No joke, an insurance approval that supposedly takes 2 days, has taken OVER-A-FU**ING-MONTH! Only because I have had to call, email, and threaten to choose a different provider to get any form of communication between the office, insurance and myself. Apparently, they can never get in touch with each other. But, kinda interesting how I can make a ONE simple phone call and facilitate a 3-way call instantly. Unbelievable! I've been going to the OBGYN at their facilities and working with Dr. Steven Martin and would like to warn others so STAY. AWAY. Whatever you do, at least for OBGYN services, DO NOT SEE STEVEN MARTIN. Not only does he seem beyond under qualified to be handling a field such as this (and I asked him this exact question too, but funny, he could barely give a response). He is also extremely awkward and a bit rude. He seems to care less about patients and more about covering his own ass. Wrong diagnosis. More than once. Going back on his own words. No explanations regarding anything. I will never return and hope for the sake of others, you don't as well. Good luck though. Too much bureaucracy and self-importance. Not a patient-centric outfit. When I receive text messages to fill out a survey, you have to jump through more screen time hoops. I am a former R.N. I have worked with good caring doctors. JHCP does not foster good care. Just the opposite - you will not get care that you need. Most recently, they no longer do blood work in their offices because they are too busy. There is no respect for individuals. It all seems to be CYI (cover your ass) approach. They are horrible. If you are vulnerable, old, or special needs, you will not improve or get the care you need, in my experience. My location is Downtown Bethesda. I have a neighbor who was unhappy with his assigned doc. There have been very dissatisfied reviews of the doctor I am assigned to. There are too many instances of neglect and a system that just doesn't care. This does not reflect on the nurses and doctors at their flagship hospital in Baltimore, which is rated very highly. I have never posted a negative review, but I am making up for it now, with the length of this one! If you are looking for a doctor, please bear with me. I have been a patient at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians in Belcamp, MD, for two years, and twice they have let me down, most recently today which compels me to write this. JHCP-Belcamp has not had my back when I needed them. I take my health seriously, am committed to annual physicals, blood work, mammograms, etc., whatever the doctor orders, and I respect doctors, nurses, and PA's. I am happy to say that I have had excellent care in the past, but I think this practice has a business model that has making money as its primary goal. I have never felt this before regarding my medical care. Over the course of the past two years, I have called my doctor only twice, both times to ask for a prescription. Both times, I was told that I would need to make an appointment to get the script. They stated it was their policy. I understand the policy, but let me tell you what happened in more detail. Last fall, I had an important professional event, and I could feel a cold sore developing on my lip. I have lived with cold sores my entire life (I am 62 now), and I have always had a script for Acyclovir at the ready. For those of you unfamiliar with this drug, it is taken as needed, and preferably before the cold sore starts. I had a script issued in Florida, but there were not enough pills to complete the regimen. I phoned JHCP-Belcamp and asked if they would call in a script for me. They said I would need to make an appointment. I had visited the office relatively recently for my annual physical and they had my current health history. When I explained over the phone that I had been on Acyclovir throughout my life - and only took it when I felt a cold sore coming on - they still said I needed an appointment. I reminded them of my recent physical and emailed them photos of my current script. I told them that I live 45 minutes away from their office and that my event was in a couple of days. They still said they needed to see me. Acyclovir is a benign drug, so I asked to speak to someone else in the office who could help me. I couldn't believe that I was having such trouble! Well, I never got the script and wound up with a cold sore. Fast forward to today. I have COVID and feel lousy. I went to Patient First on Saturday because JHCP-Belcamp was closed. I tested negative at Patient First but knew that I had been exposed to COVID and I was highly symptomatic. They did a PCR test, and a positive test result came on Sunday. I had the results sent to JHCP-Belcamp. First thing this morning (Monday), I called JHCP-Belcamp and asked if they thought I was a candidate for the antiviral drug Paxlovid. I explained to the nurse that I am in day 4 of symptoms, have had chest tightness and coughing, that I am 62 years old, and that my dad and grand dad died of lung cancer (medical history that JHCP-Belcamp has on file). My lungs have always been a worry. I am fully vaccinated and once boosted, but I felt because of my age, family history, chest symptoms and because COVID is a respiratory virus, I felt vulnerable. Well, guess what they said: you need to do a Tele-health appointment to get a script. It crossed my mind that they might ask for an appointment, but I thought because I had just been examined at Patient First, tested positive yesterday and spoke in detail to the nurse about my symptoms today, that they would either say that I was not a candidate or that they would call in the prescription. But NO, I had to make an appointment which I did not do. I count on my doctors to be there for me, and to help me when I need care. I do every test and follow up visit they ask me to do, but when it comes to calling in a prescription, their policy appears to be motivated by money: make an appointment to make a buck. I value my health and my doctors too much, and this is not serious medical care. read more

They're the best- specifically the pediatrics dept is where we go. Dr. Reisner is so caring, and all the docs there are so responsive. Convenient location with free parking, and part of Hopkins system so they can get you into specialists easily. They always go the extra mile. read more

The pediatrician doctors are nice, but good luck getting ahold of them during or after hours. I needed an antibiotic for my daughter and my mother-in-law graciously offered to take her to get the Rx. The pediatrician told her it wasn't a sinus infection and did not give the Rx. She told us to call her if it got worst. The infection got worst the next day (Friday), we called and called and called, but never heard back from our pediatrician. We ended up rushing her to urgent care and the urgent care doctor immediately identified the sinus infection and ordered the Rx. Within a day she was much better. Bottom line, they are a nightmare to deal with in any kind of emergency. The after hours call line is a JOKE. Go with a pediatrician that will respond and actual cares. KEEP SEARCHING. read more

TL:DR Dishonest practitioner with deceptive billing practice. I scheduled an appointment for a physical examination as I was covered by my insurer for preventative care. In preparation for my examination I printed out and brought with me a checklist provided by my insurer of exactly which services I would be eligible to receive under this preventative care appointment. I presented the checklist to my physician at the beginning of the appointment to further emphasize the purpose of my visit and ensure I would only receive the services which I was covered for. During my appointment with Dr. Nadia Ijaz she asked, "Is there anything currently bothering you?". Prompted by the question I answered honestly admitting that I experience soreness in my knees as a result of having played basketball regularly for the majority of my life. Dr. Ijaz recommend I consider pursuing a less strenuous activity or exercise instead and provided me with a generic list of stretches for my condition. This is the key detail right here. Note that I did not schedule an examination to have my knee soreness checked out nor did I or would I have mentioned it had I not been prompted by Dr. Ijaz. Because of this transgression the physical examination I had scheduled and had assumed I had received was billed as a medical examination. Therefore, I was not eligible for full coverage by my medical provider as a medical examination does not constitute preventive care. In addition, I have been billed for the blood testing I received that would have been covered under a physical examination. The testing performed was completed unrelated to knee soreness so if this practice wants to claim that I truly came in for a medical knee soreness exam instead of a physical exam then why would they order unrelated testing to be performed?!? To put what transpired into layman's terms imagine ordering a $10 glass of Pinot Noir at a restaurant. The waiter brings you a $20 glass of Merlot instead, but does not notify you that the wine is not what you had ordered. Considering you are not a sommelier you do not recognize that the wine you enjoy with your meal is the merlot. At the end of your dinner you receive your bill which includes a $20 charge for wine. Even though you ordered a $10 glass, were never asked if you wanted a $20 glass, and then were served the $20 glass unannounced the restaurant maintains that you are liable for the $20 glass because that is what you drank regardless of what you were aware of or requested. That has been my experience with this practice. They have refused to bill me for the service I scheduled instead electing to upcharge me for a service I never requested nor was I aware that I was even receiving by honestly responding to a question posed by Dr. Ijaz. In the past I have had a very positive experience with Dr. Jane Meeyoung Lee Shen, but considering my experience with Dr. Ijaz and the practice's refusal to address the deception I was subjected to I will not be coming back again. Do not be suckered in by the name. They may be affiliated with Johns Hopkins, but do yourself a favor and find another physician who will treat you with respect. read more

I've had good experiences with my OB/GYN doctor at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. That's why I chose to make a return visit when a couple issues arose. This visit turned out to be an absolute nightmare. First, I waited for 50 min for the appointment. After inquiring about when I can be seen and the front desk staff told me that the doctor's running an hour late (not an efficient office!), I figured, I'll just go grab some work and wait a little longer. I was only out for 5 min when apparently the nurse called me. When I returned to the office and continued my wait, NOBODY ever told me that I was called. When I inquired again, I was told that I was called and the front desk staff said the nurse will reach out to me shortly. Another 20 min go by, a nurse finally showed up to let me know that they just moved along to the next patient. I better reschedule my appointment because they were already running late. There was no apology and no recognition that I waited for an hour and 40 min at that point; instead, they blamed all of it on me because I was out (for 5 min) when they called. The situation was completely mishandled and now I've wasted 2 hours of an already busy work day. read more

Just had our first appointment with the pediatrician Dr. Reisner and it was great. The front office staff, medical assistant and Dr. were all extremely polite, kind and sweet. The pediatrician spent a lot of time with us and was very patient. She was also very cute with my daughter which helped her to relax. In addition to what I saw I had also called in the emergency line (over a week prior) and spoken to Debbie, the triage nurse. Debbie was outstanding and walked me through my daughters stomach flu before we were even established patients. She was calm and informative and prevented me from totally losing my mind. If the rest of the staff is anything like Debbie and Dr. Reisner I know we are in good hands. read more

Several problems arose through community physicians from the onset. 1. The doctor discontinued my nuva ring birth control without notice. I did not find out until I made two trips to the pharmacy. Initally the pharmacy said it was not ready for pickup and to come pack. the second time they said my doctor wouldn't renew my prescription, leaving me with no birth control on short notice. 2. When I called the office - Canton Crossing - to find out why I told it was an insurance issue. 3. After a one hour call with my insurance and a three way call back to Canton Crossing they admitted it was their policy that I must come in for an annual before renewing my birth control prescription. Either the rep at the office outright lied or was not apprised of your policies. This is unacceptable and a complete waste of my time. I made an appointment so that I could finally get my birth control. 2. Two weeks later I get the appointment. I am now two weeks off from the time I was supposed to insert the ring. 3. Even though I have been going to Canton Crossing for over 10 years I had to fill out and answer questions for a new patient wasting more of my time. I figured out that the doctor had no idea I was a current patient and didn't need the extra forms. He left to go find my medical information and came back with a better understanding of my medical history. Another example of mishandling of my visit. 4. A few days after my visit a woman called and left a message asking to talk with me about my lab results. When I heard the message I was alarmed. When I called back she asked when I could come back in because the swab sample from my annual was "lost". The fact that the lab or health care provider "lost" my sample coupled with all the other problems community physicians displayed is completely unsatisfactory and a display of an inability to properly manage my medical care. I refuse to return for another swab at an appointment I was forced to make so that community physicals would release my birth control and stop holding my medical health hostage. I finally have birth control now after 3 weeks of discontinued use without notice. The entire experience has shown me that there is real incompetence at community physicians. I am changing doctors immediately. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Crocetti for 2 years for our son and absolutely love him. We were a bit worried when we moved here that we would have trouble finding a good pediatrician since we loved our first. He met our expectations and was very patient and friendly. We asked him tons of questions on each visit and he was always delighted to answer. read more

No respect for people's time. Horrible wait times - 30 to 45 minutes past appointment each time. Lab tech on 9/29/17 around 2pm had people wait 20 minutes as she chatted away with a friend rather than draw blood and get on with it. Friendly front desk staff. read more

The doctors here are pretty good and the nurses and other staff are great. Here is the problem: you cannot get through to them on the phone. You must wait on hold for at least 10 but usually 15 minutes. Then you are told that whoever you're talking to can't answer your question/help with your problem; someone else has to call you back. That rarely happens in the same day, so I hope you aren't too sick. When you call to follow up, you are treated rudely. This office seems poorly managed and disorganized. Also, parking can be a problem, they will give you a voucher to park, but the lot gets full kind of quickly. They are never, ever on time. I have waited over an hour for an appointment that I had scheduled months earlier. I know they're not calling patients, so what's the problem? The problem is that they don't really care, that's why they get a only two stars. read more

Bottom line: Overall poor service and nightmare trying to deal with the office workers. If I could give this zero stars I would. When I moved to Baltimore, I was looking for a reputable gynecologist and naturally I thought Johns Hopkins was going to be my best bet! First of all, making an appointment wasn't easy. I took my lunch hour to call to make an appointment and it pretty much took the whole hour. Still, I decided that I was going to go for my yearly checkup and maybe the wait would be worth it - After all, it is prestigious John's Hopkins. Parking wasn't too bad actually, but again I'm originally from NYC. I waited for about 25 minutes until I was called in and saw Dr. Terry for my visit. She was nice and didn't make you feel rushed, but I will say that she is not gentle. The real issue that I have with this office is the fact that a year after I had my appointment, I am still trying to get to the bottom of a bill that I received from that visit. After my yearly "well-woman" exam, which is 100% covered by my insurance, I received a bill from quest diagnostics. When I waited on the line for my entire lunch hour, I finally got a hold of someone but was given the run around - being told to call the insurance and that it must be MY fault somehow. After about 2 weeks of calling and trying to get a hold of someone, I was told by the Dr.'s office that there was an issue with the way THEY coded the paperwork and they had to resubmit. I was reassured that the problem had been fixed and to ignore it if I receive another bill from Quest Diagnostics. I waited about 3 weeks and sure enough received another bill from Quest Diagnostics. I called Quest Diagnostics today just to confirm that it had been taken care of and they told me that no one ever called them from the Dr.'s office. It has now been a full year that I have been trying to deal with this. Bottom line is that a Dr.'s office is no different from any other business. And I can assure you that they will never get my business again. I've moved around quite a bit and have been to many doctors but I have never had to deal with this level of incompetence. read more

I moved from DC, where I loved my GYN to Baltimore where I needed to find a new one. I thought the experience was fine. My new doctor, as I've found many JH doctors do, took things one step at a time. She took time to answer my questions and took time to investigate the concerns I had. While results returned inconclusive the doctor took time to explain them to me. I found the results turn around surprisingly fast. I think as patients we need to manage our expectations within the medical field. I have confidence my doctor did what she could to help me the best she could and if test results returned indicating that further testing was required then she would have done that. But she as many doctors are is limited by the insurance companies. I've had an ear in on conversations with doctors who have been practicing for years and they're just as frustrated as we are by this reality. They went in to medicine specifically with JH to help people, and the insurance companies put limits on this. I'm frustrated by not having answers but not with my doctor, with the insurance companies that won't let doctors do their jobs! read more

Dr S suggested that my child who had a demonstrated sensitivity to a medicine be given the medicine again so she could see it. Took them 8 months to retrieve my kids vaccine records and today their answering service blind transferred me to smothering answering service and still no triage nurse. WORST Pediatrician ever. read more
