I took my Toyota Highlander in for a brake check and a checkup for a trip to Colorado. The brakes were fine, the grinding noise I heard was the ABS kicking in, and the car is good to go. I was invited to sit in the office where it was warm (it was about 45 degrees when I arrived) and when my car was done the mechanic brought me the certificate and also kindly offered to let me take some of the Texas Monthly magazines. That was a very kind and unsolicited offer, and I took him up on it. I will definitely go back next time I need something for my VW Jetta. This place gets you in and out without fuss and treats you to good old fashioned hospitality too.

Tried to take advantage of a college kid...Before I go further, I dont do "reviews/complaints", but…read moreI couldn't let this go unmentioned in case some other parent is looking for a trust worthy mechanic. I'm not a "Karen/Chad" My daughter called to report she had some "major problem with lots of flashing check engine lights" (her words).... I live 5 hours away and couldn't diagnose. This shop told her it was coil problem/ misfiring and would cost $1,300. I called to confirm the only issue was a bad coil pack.... yup.... that's it folks.... an $80 coil and a reasonable labor charge and 30mins could have put her back on the road, but that wasn't in the options she was offered. A good mechanic might have recognized all the coil packs were aftermarket (changed less than 2 years ago and had a lifetime warranty from OReilly) and asked more questions.... or if they thought the coils were original said "we can fix the issue with the one coil, but you really should replace all four if possible because they are old and will also have issues"...but nope.... they saw $$$ from a young adult away from home with limited options in a small town. They lost an opportunity to win loyalty for being honest... may not have earned a fat check this time, but I would have known who to call or recommend to someone else in the future. Take my story with a grain of salt, I only spoke with the receptionist about the work needed and they waived their diagnostic fee. Hopefully this was atypical for them and they aren't in the habit of gouging customers. but just in case, now you know my story.
