My husband and I both had the fish, which was fresh, pan-fried to perfection, and wonderfully flaky. The bun had a delicious garlic-bread flavor, and the fries were crispy with just the right amount of seasoning. The owner, Desi, personally served us and was attentive and welcoming throughout our meal. The restaurant itself is as memorable as the food, with an eclectic nautical décor and interesting things to see everywhere you look. It's the kind of friendly, unpretentious place that makes a stop in a small waterfront town special. If you're in DeTour, don't miss Mainsail--you'll be glad you stopped!

"Why didn't you call" and "no you can't move tables" and "I have another church group coming". My gf and I could hear orders put in from other tables and he would make some pretty rude comments. He was also snappy with just about everyone there. The food was mediocre. Additionally when we finished our food we sat there for 15 minutes waiting for him to handle our bill. The mainsail also charged us $1 for water. Are we living in California? I can't remember the last time I was charged for water at a restaurant! I've asked a lot of my local friends what they think about this place and they all agree that this place sucks! The attitude is terrible and it's no wonder this place is shutting down!

The flatbread was huge and delicious, especially for the $12 it cost. The herb chicken pasta was served with a roll and my girlfriend couldn't eat it all. The restaurant definitely has a rustic feel to it, and almost feels like a mom and pop place.
