Basically a bar with a large indoor area and tables & chairs, set up is kind of like a community hall. The place is owned by a couple of veterans, and there is army paraphernalia all around. The food was very tasty - whitefish was fresh and battered perfectly. We were told it was caught the day before by the local Sault tribe. Staff was friendly and attentive. Super awesome experience at the trailhead. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, drinks are amazing and food is excellent! Will be going back for future trips. Also, this is the only campground I've seen with a bar and restaurant on the property. The views from outside are breathtaking! read more

Fortunately came to Trailhead on Wednesday $10 off the whitefish dinner night. What a deal! Never had such a large serving of fresh whitefish, never had such a delicious serving of whitefish. Never had such a wonderful whitefish meal down state. Included a large baked sweet potato with cinnamon brown sugar butter, incredible roasted vegetable, and warm bread. Did I mention how large the whitefish portion was? Huge. Can't say enough good things about the meal. read more

Last minute decision to try Trailhead and it was well worth it. The fish was perfectly cooked. The tangy coleslaw was fabulous and the mashed potatoes were great as well. The bread was excellent and the shrimp appetizer was fantastic. Our waitress was Missy who was actually the owner along with her husband who are veterans. The service was great. I wish this restaurant was closer to home so I could go more often. Try the peach cobbler.....so good. read more

I give the Trailhead 5 stars because Pat and Missy, the owners, are awesome. We rolled in on our fleet of 5 side-by-sides, running out of daylight, and they couldn't have been nicer. The cook had already gone home, but when Missy saw us ride up, tired, dirty and hungry, she replied with an enthusiastic "Hell Yes" when we asked her if the kitchen was still open. She fired it up herself and cooked really good cheeseburgers for all of 10 of us. Pat, a Drummond Island resident his entire life, was also super cool. He spent a lot of time with us, showing us where we should go (such as a 110 year old ship wreck, that if your rig can make it to the site, was a wonderful experience). He fixed our flat tires and wouldn't take any money. We ended up staying over at their camp site which had showers. To us, that was a decadent treat. Drummond Island is filled with beautiful sites, challenging trails, and as Missy and Pat had personified, some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Stopped in for a drink and wasn't sure about dinner. We were there early, but ordered the prime rib. Next thing you know it's filling up and bar is getting busy. One of the best burgers I've had in a while - definitely in my top ten list! I had the mushroom burger and it comes on a very light and airy ciabatta roll. So good! It is not worth arguing, it was not a good experience and would not recommend this place, especially if there are women in your group.

Clean, comfortable, with a nice view of Miller Lake. The food is good and reasonably priced compared to other places on the island. The owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome. A small campground is adjacent and popular with folks who bring their Jeeps and ATVs to ride the trails. Depending upon time of year their schedule varies. They have a stage and large banquet area where they sometimes have live entertainment. A good place to stop. read more

second time at trailhead and will be my last ! Last year had a great time with our group of jeepers.This year when we showed up for our lakefront spot with a pad and electric and water hook up that we had made reservations for and was confirmed just hours before our arrival, there wasn't any , Missy claimed she was booked for the whole weekend. She said sight 19 was on the water . what she should have said was it was under water. no pad. when my husband went back into talk to her about it she held out our check and said don't like it leave! well it was 10;30 at night had waited 2 hours to get on the ferry at that point. so we took the sight in the middle. grass wasn't cut for the holiday weekend, neither bathroom had a hand dryer that worked, it was obvious that the hand soap was diluted. Shower rooms were dirty. We decided to leave a day early and spoke to missy about a one day refund. She said nope could have booked it all week, She claimed that the campground was booked solid and that's why we didn't get the sight we were promised. But there were several spots lake front that were empty the entire time we were there. Was very unhappy with the lack of customer service she gave to us. Luckily there are many people on the island that welcome the tourist. I would recommend any other place but there. Trailhead puts a bad taste for the island in my mouth! read more
