The Brewhouse & Kitchen is a first-rate real-ale brew pub and restaurant in the centre of…read moreLichfield, popular with business-types [unfortunately]. The first thing you see when you enter this alehouse are the copper kettles they use for brewing - they also do tours and seminars on brewing. A fairly broad range of on-site brews are available on tap, plus several guest ales and the usual array of fizzy lagers. I tired several ales, and found them to be of variable quality. The pub covers two floors and several designated areas, so you can find a moderately quiet spot even if it's busy - which it frequently is. There's also a smoking area to the back on the ground floor. Superior pub grub is available throughout the day, plus several "small plate" options for lunchtime. Of these I chose the small cod & chips and the 3-egg cheese omelette - both were tasty and well-prepared, at UKP 5 each. The food was served fairly quickly, despite the fact that a party of "suits" were already marauding the premises at the time. The décor I found appealing, and the staff friendly and nimble on their feet. Warmly recommended for Lichfield!

1st time there. Popped in while passing for a beer or two. Tom was alone behind the bar. He greeted…read moreus very politely and was courteous. He explained what beers they make & what is what. We were guided by him in our choices & he was bang on. Tom was pleasant, polite and most helpful. We had no intentions of dinning but did share a Key lime pie that was to die for. The menu was not just pizza & burgers there are a lot of great healthier choices too all reasonably priced. The outside is amazing. Will we go again? YES!!! Only negative we found was there are no litter bins in the garden.

The decor is posh and welcoming, the interior is highlighted by reclaimed wood, Edison bulbs, industrial metal, mid century styled seating, and lots of books (which you're actually welcome to read while sipping a pint or 5). I ordered the ribs, which come with fries, slaw, and grilled corn on the cob. The meat was tender, fall off the bone, perfect. I would have liked just a little more BBQ sauce on the ribs though. I asked for an extra ramekin, which the wait staff kindly brought. The BBQ sauce is unique and makes use of bright orange rind and juice to punch up the flavor. The corn was seasoned just right. There is enough food on the "plate," a cutting board, for two to have a large meal. I ordered tea to drink to soothe my sore throat. Tea was served in the cutest little tea pot and was very tasty. I tried a sip of the stout. I will definitely be getting that next time. It was phenomenal! (If you go for just beer, I'd give that 5 stars). The stout had smooth chocolate notes and drank like a delicious cuppa cocoa.

I went on a Thursday at around 6.30pm and it was a little quiet but on the plus side we found somewhere to sit no problemo. This place serves up street food, drinks and beats (boom boom) Great for a balmy summer evening :) I love that they have covered seating areas in case it rains/for those that can't take the sun. I went for the jerk chicken with rice and peas from 'Jerk', £7 for a very decent sized portion. It wasn't the best chicken ever but the gravy that came with definitely upped the flavour and made the meal delicious. Rice and peas were nicely done, I just wish they did dumplings. My friend got a bagel plus fries and was very happy with her meal, the portion of fries were enough for two to share. Fun summer addition to Manchester's food scene.

You've got plenty of food options, though I was too full from my swine fries (cheers Bangers and Bacon) to really enjoy some more grub, and you've also got some cool drink options. I had a couple of pints of the Pilsner at Kozel LoKal and it went down a treat! Get yourself a spot on the deck chairs on a sunny evening and you'll find yourself not wanting to leave! Great option of quality street food and an overall top place to chill out!
