I could not make that appointment so they said they had NOTHING ELSE and they put me on a call list. How many businesses do you know that do horrible work and then don't offer to fix it? This just proves what I already thought - that he has no backbone. I like people who stand behind their work, not blame people for their shortcomings. He's probably going to treat me like I did something to cause this filling to come off because that's who he is. And he'll probably also tell me that he didn't have an appointment because I missed one cleaning or something. This dentist is weird. He takes things personally and has zero social skills. Any good review you see on here will soon be somebody who is upset. They will cancel appointments on you and not reschedule and then make you feel horrible for not coming in and seeing them. They are very disorganized and their scheduling is archaic. There is a very bizarre culture in that office and it's not centered around the patient as it should be.

The time had come when I had to stop avoiding the unenviable task of finding a new dentist. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Barr and his staff. Ginny and Deb are two fantastic ladies up front, both with great senses of humor (the wry kind) and the maternal instincts I don't think I've seen in any doctor's office that I can remember. Christine was fabulous in her dental hygienist duties (also, great sense of humor), and Amanda was a warm and detail-oriented assistant when I went back for a couple of fillings the next day. Dr. Barr (who introduced himself as "Phil") got right down to business, and in his back pocket, he had a couple of great lawyer jokes for me. This all culminated with being very satisfied with the work product. Oh, and his kids have a pretty good band in Montreal: The Barr Brothers. Check them out.

Over the years I came to appreciate that reliability, and Dr. Barr was always a great professional. I should have written a five-star review a long time ago, not that the office would have needed it. The practice was sold recently to someone called Katherine Burton, who I've never seen. I have seen one of the other Dentists there, who is young and eager and seems knowledgeable. I do find the bedside manner not quite filling Dr. Barr's shoes, although I suppose that's something that comes with time. Other things have changed, too: the front desk staff, who I always liked, and I've had to trundle out to the other office in North Prov a few times because they couldn't reschedule me on South Main. None of which is a deal-killer, and I guess if I walked in the door today I wouldn't think much of it, but, I don't know, it's just the way my trust in the practice has been lowered just a bit that feels uncomfortable, somehow.

I was just scheduling a routine cleaning and check up but they were able to get me in very quickly. Everything seemed pretty standard. Friendly front desk staff and hygienist. They took X-rays and did a good cleaning and I have my follow up booked. The only oddity was that when the dentist arrived he never introduced himself or really said much of anything. Pretty much just flipped through the X-rays at lightening speed, poked around a bit and was out of there without even telling me his name! Not a big deal but felt a bit impersonal. I will still be back though because everyone else was lovely and the location is super convenient for me!

The office has a robot named GRACE answering the phone, absolutely useless at booking apointments, you'll wait on hold for 10 minutes before it gets to the part of the automation where it asks you to press 1 for a call back. Press 1, it plays a message about invisiline and puts you back in the hold que. The actual human staff has booked me with other doctors and made my dentist work with two patients at the same time. He's always training his assistants, never had the same assistant twice. One time the assistant shoved the xray thing in my mouth 6 times before moving me to another chair where the machine was actually working. Nevermind the fact that the physical office building is fairly new but it's all falling apart. I love my dentist, he's worked on my teeth for 20+ years but I have to switch. A doctor's office is only so good as the support staff.

When you walk into the clinic, you're met with the friendliest receptionist. The clinic itself is located on the bottom floor/basement. The wait time was about 10-15 minutes and they get you in almost right away. The dental hygienist is the friendliest person also. She makes conversations with you, tries to get to know you, and tries to make you feel comfortable. If you don't want to talk she's good with that too. All while she's establishing good rapport with you, she's taking care of the dental cleaning and assisting the doctor with the procedure. She attended to my needs and ensured I was comfortable and pain-free. Dr. Rubinstein herself is nice also. She attended to multiple patients at once with ease. With all the needles and drills going inside my gums, I felt absolutely no pain during and after the procedure. I was anxious about my treatment but this clinic revived my hope in getting dental procedures again. After the appointment, they get all my requests done in a timely manner. If you have any urgent needs and are in the Providence area, Dr. Rubinstein and Ducoff's clinic is a good spot to establish dental care.

Last night I went to make sure there was no paper work for me to fill out, but when I entered my portal (linked in my appointment confirmation email) it said no appointments. I emailed to make sure my accounts were synced, but then received a call the following day telling me my appointment had been cancelled because they won't have a hygienist. I do wonder if they would have told me without me asking-- my guess is no considering my partner had an appointment the same day and didn't know his was cancelled until I told him mine was. I then asked if I could come in the day before or the week after, and was told they're scheduling into April. Even though THEY cancelled my appointment. Needless to say I will be going elsewhere.

The front desk staff and hygienist were always very friendly and we had great conversations. My teeth came out clean and were healthy. They offered me to make my next appointment in that other office in Johnston or Scituate or to change dental offices. I decided to look for another dentist office in Providence since it is more convenient.
