A great pediatrician. He cared for my boys into adulthood, with complete success.

In walked this giant of a man, and my son's eyes went wide. (His previous ped. had been tall with a scary booming voice!). Dr. Mike immediately knelt down to my son's eye level and spoke to him. I knew right away that I had made the right choice. From then on, I *loved* having Dr. Mike to call on, and he saw us for newborn care, immunizations, allergies, divorce stress, concerns about speech delays, and even post-care for stitches. In fact, of the things I regretted about moving away, losing him as our pediatrician was the biggest. I have partial hearing loss due to the over-prescription of antibiotics when I was a child, and when I discussed my concerns regarding over-medication with him, I found we agreed on the topic, as well as a great many others. I always felt comfortable discussing my concerns with him, and he treated the children as part of our whole family unit, taking into account interfamily relationships and stresses (like our divorce) on my sons' behavior and development. He never made me feel like I was wasting his time if I called with a question or concern. He was (when I left) one of the busiest pediatricians in Grass Valley, and with good reason in my opinion!

Did the procedure I was after I didn't have to wait at all. Everyone was really honest and nice .... If you look at my other reviews from this same day, I tried to receive treatment at three other urgent care facilities all under the Lincoln urgent Care brand... And they wouldn't even accept 100% cash payment to treat a spider bite! So it's a tricky world because the only reason I went to the Lincoln urgent Care was because it had 4.9 Stars and I avoided Westerns Sierra because they had one star. But I got the best service ever... What a confusing maze. Thanks for the treatment

This was hands down the worst medical experience I've ever had, and I thought my previous…read moreexperience with them was horrid.... At my daughter's 2-year checkup, this doctor, Mr. Peter Harris, barely even did an actual exam. Yet he felt completely comfortable telling me my child was "severely autistic" and would never live a normal life, go to a regular school, or be around other kids. Who says that to a parent--especially without a proper evaluation by a true ASD professional? It was cruel, reckless, and completely inappropriate. I left that appointment terrified and heartbroken. No parent should ever be spoken to like that based on what felt like a rushed, lazy assessment. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and did NOT follow his referral. I paid extensively out of pocket for an independent evaluation, by a world renowned doctor, and guess what? My daughter is NOT autistic. She simply has a speech delay and some oral motor issues; things that are manageable and common. So not only was Mr. Peter Harris wrong, he was wildly wrong. To make it even worse, they had the nerve to call me months afterwards to make sure I went through with their referral--like they were trying to double down on their misdiagnosis, or receive a nice kickback from UC Davis. This bargain bin of medical clinics throws around serious labels like it's nothing, with zero regard for the emotional damage it causes families, especially mothers. It's fear-mongering, plain and simple. If you care about your child, get a second opinion, trust your gut, and think twice before trusting this clinic and doctor. No one should have to go through the anxiety and distress that I endured.

This allergist is very disorganized and horrible toward their patients…read more I initially asked when they could accept me for my first allergy shot, and they stated the ranges of time I could come in. I drove an hour to their location and arrived with the proper timeframe just to be denied. On the day I arrived for my second shot they suddenly decided to no longer take TriCare insurance, after I used my referral for their services, meaning it will be very difficult for me to switch providers. Allergy testing and appointments were a huge investment of time for myself and my active duty spouse, just to abruptly be told that I can no longer continue care with them, not even with a self pay option. I unfortunately live on a heavily wooded military base due to no choice of my own but due to my spouse's military service, and will have to continue suffering through allergies and sinus infections until I can start the allergy treatment process over with a new provider or until my spouse can relocate again. Would not recommend this allergist to anyone, especially military families. This office should be embarrassed of the way they treat their patients.

While their…read morewebsite proudly advertises Medicare acceptance, which he currently has, however they refused to see my friend because their supplemental coverage is Medi-Cal rather than private insurance. What makes this particularly disappointing is that other specialists--including my friend's current allergist in Sacramento--accept Medicare and compassionately waive the 20% co-payment for those in need. This practice, however, seems more concerned with maximizing their already substantial Medicare reimbursement (80% of their full charges) than serving vulnerable members of our community. Healthcare should be about healing, not profit margins. When medical professionals turn away those most in need--especially when alternatives exist to make care accessible--it reveals troubling priorities. My friend now faces the burden of traveling over 60 miles each way weekly for care that should be available locally. In a system where many struggle to access basic healthcare, I believe medical providers have an ethical responsibility to find creative solutions rather than simply closing their doors. I sincerely hope this practice reconsiders its policies to better serve all members of our community, regardless of economic status."

Dr. Allen and the whole staff at Center for Living Health are all extraordinary…read more Before my son was born I hunted high and low for a pediatrician that would a great support my child and any future children I would have. I had a lot of qualities that the Doctor would need to possess and needless to say Dr. Allen went way above and beyond. My son was born woth a rare genetic disease which did not really take full effect until his second birthday. Dr. allen was able to see he was showing signs of delay very early on and referred us to the early start program. He was so kind as to encourage us with a message of hope that we would help Finn overcome his challenges. He was able to supply us with healthier options for teething issues, as well as, giving us advice on sleeping and preventing fevers. Dr. Allen helped us navigate the devastating turn shortly after my son's second birthday. After a two month stay at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, our first stop was to see Dr. Allen. He was very quick to help build back up the encouragement that Finn is going to do exactly what Finn is going to do. Dr. Allen has given us a deeper insight on labs and diagnosis, he has been wonderul at giving us supplements to help combat the side effects for the nasty medication he needs to be on and hes helped with pain management. He has also given us so much help when we have emergency hospital visits. He has supported mothers intuition (which has been right thus far) he has referred us to compassionate specialists. All I can say is, we live Dr. Allen. He and his team and a bright and guiding light during our very dark journey and I am so grateful yo have such a caring, honest and intelligent doctor double check the qork of everyone else that is involved in Finns life. All doctors should be like Dr. Michael Allen!

I've waited a few weeks to write this review- I wanted to make sure I wasn't coming from an angry…read moreplace I brought my daughter (16yr old) To see Dr. Allen because of high sugar levels/borderline diabetes in October. We are a family that eats very healthy; no seed oils, everything organic, very minimal sugar. No sodas, no processed or boxed food. Nothing microwaved. My daughter is very active in sports, she runs and weight lifts on weekly basis- yet has a very hard time loosing a single pound. We don't eat out, no fast food. So the high sugar levels and extremely low iron levels puzzled me. Thinking something in her gut needs to be fixed, or her thyroid is out of order. I had a handful of tests that I've already had Kaiser order and brought those to the appointment. To my surprise, the doctor didn't order new tests, didn't suggest new tests, and hardly reviewed the tests Several times he asked her if she was stressed. Several times- as if to have her change her mind. My daughter said she stresses over school- but nothing out of the originally and nothing on the extreme levels. The push was for stress lotions and his own vitamins that was created by him and his office. I was hoping he would do an exam on her, maybe to see if her glens were swollen, or look at her tongue- none of that done He spent an hour with us... and brought in a box of vitamins and lotions. My mistake was buying everything he suggested. We even paid for a bottle of vitamins that they didn't have in stock- but promised to send them in the mail. I had to call 3 weeks after the appointment and they forgot to send us the items we paid for. Office is disorganized. They did apologize for the mistake- but I should not have had to call to look for the vitamins weeks later after paying for them. I carefully chose this place, because he is an MD and practices holistic care and because of the yelp reviews. But it was my mistake In choosing this practice- because all he wants to do is upsell his own vitamins and lotions and not recommend anything else. Very disappointed in the appointment My daughter mentioned in the car that every vitamin looks the same and joked that we bought sugar pills. I was hoping that during this appointment, additional blood work and stool tests would of been ordered to see if fats are digested correctly, T3, T4 and THS tests would of been requested, or allergy testing or some other test to see if her gut is working properly. something else to see why her iron levels are almost non-existent and why her blood sugar is so high when she consumes no sugar Save yourself a thousand dollars, and go someplace where the doctor actually wants to get to the bottom of your issue and not just by having you buy his own vitamins. How can you prescribe vitamins when you don't truly know what is wrong.
