Show up for your appt early, wait an hour+ to see a nurse, then wait another 2+ hours to see the doctor who leaves a lot to be desired. His "beside" manner is atrocious. While I get he's a doctor, he talks to patients like they are total idiots and beneath him. If you need an eye specialist I'd recommend finding someone else - unless you're into waiting HOURS at your appointment and being talked to like you're dumb.

Fiften years ago there were only maybe a dozen to twenty eye neurologists in the USA. There are more now but not that many... so the fact that we have three on staff here is incredibly fortunate. The fact that the two I have had care for my vision are empathetic as well as thoroughly skilled is just beyond amazing luck. On the day of your appt charge your phone or bring something to occupy yourself. There can be a lot of waiting... this is normal! Why??? Their patients all have complex issues and the doctors will take as much time to thoroughly try to solve each one. One by one.... That can back up the flow. Just realize when its you in that room... they will give you 100% of their attention. They will come in fully prepared (meaning they have read your chart thoroughly prior to seeing you) and will ask you as many questions to get to the root of the problem and you will leave with an action plan and answers. Its productive. You are in good hands here.

I found Dr.Kelley after a couple other consultations with refractive surgeons. A friend referred…read moreme. When it comes to surgery on my eyes, a referral is highly coveted. The other consultations provided options other than Lasik. I was told the outer layer of my eyes were not smooth and lasik would not be good option. They suggested a couple procedures that were newer and more expensive than Lasik. I was pretty disappointed about that. When I finally got to Arena Eye Surgeons (Dr. Kelley's office), his consulted told me that I actually was a candidate for Lasik. What the other doctors neglected to tell me was that wearing contact prevents oxygen from getting to your eye, and alters the shape. They advised two weeks, no contacts. Dr. Kelley advised four. After four weeks of glasses, my eyes apparently returned to their normal shape. The surgery itself was painless. You are awake, and your eyes are completely numbed. They say you can see instantly, but with all the goo in your eyes, you can only see things fuzzy. But over the next day after it starts clearing out, then you actually can see! It even gets better over the next week! Dr. Kelley always reminds me about the success of my surgery. Sometimes your vision is 20/20, sometimes a little less, but mine is now 20/15 (better than 20/20). Coming from a -8.5/-9.25 glasses prescription, this is amazing. The total cost was around $3,750.

Dr Kelley has a very extensive resume as well, and has been doing this procedure since 1996. Doc took plenty of time answering my questions and making me feel comfortable and explaining exactly what to expect. I asked why some of his competition offers a menu of different prices and he has one price? He was upfront and honest in saying that the procedure is the same, regardless of how good or bad your vision is. While it might not be the cheapest around at $2300/eye, I'd rather pay a bit more for a great doctor who is going to work on my eyes. He called me the evening of my procedure, just to make sure I was doing ok, and left his home phone #, just in case I had any questions or concerns. It's hard to find docs these days that will do that. My vision is great and I'm very happy with my experience with Doc Kelley.

I was recommended by a…read moredoctor I see for migraines, so without thought I decided to go ahead and make an appointment. When I first arrived, my appointment time should have been at 2 o'clock, but the person made it for 2 but a month later. They were able to squeeze me in a little later that day, so I sat in the waiting room and waited. No real apology, just kept saying I don't know what she was thinking. When I first went back, I was with Jill a technician who was highly rude. I felt so uncomfortable. I tried to start conversation to potentially break the ice, but she was so stoned faced and rude. Anytime she would ask me a question it would be accompanied by an odd look. She just looked like she wanted to be somewhere else. The other technicians were friendly and fine. Almost towards the end of my visit I first saw Maha Jabbar, OD. She was nice and friendly, but when she left the room came back she told me that they failed to do an eye exam that was supposed to be done prior to my eyes being dilated so she wasn't sure what prescription I should go with. Right before leaving, I met Doctor Erdey. He was just OK. He mentioned that I needed to just go to Walgreens and play around with the strengths. He said not to get readers but actual glasses and I have yet to find a place that has glasses at Walgreens that are not readers. I did ask him if I was near or farsighted and he said both so I was unsure of what type of glasses to really look for. I then asked him if he thought it would be easier or better for me just to get a prescription and he said go to Walgreens first and then get back to me in a month. Obviously he didn't want to prescribe me anything because they failed to do testing before being dilated. Instead of coming back, he kept telling me how it was just cheaper to go to Walgreens. In all honesty, I'm not even sure if what he told me was correct because when I went to try them on at Walgreens, I couldn't see very well with them. I don't understand why they wouldn't just ask me to come back another day. I wholeheartedly regret going here and I wish I could take it all back. What is more disappointing is due to my insurance, I can only get this type of eye exam once a year. I will now have to wait a whole year before I can see another doctor. Please do your research before choosing them.
