I'm honestly not sure how this place has such high reviews, the portions were ridiculously small. The beans were okay, but the mac and cheese was dry and not cheesy at all. At first they asked if I wanted sausage or chicken, then said they could "hook it up" with both. What I received was five tiny pieces of sausage and one single chicken leg. I wouldn't pay more than $6 for a plate this small. The sausage tasted good, but the portion was kid‑sized. Very disappointing overall. Work on your portions. read more

Its not often that I will go out my way to thank the cooks for food when it comes to catered services. But this one was different. The USS Higbee command picnic did good when this this company to serve lunch for us. It wasnt just basic hot dogs and hamburgers. These nice people served up smoked brisket and pulled pork as well as chicken (you had a choice) and they didnt skimp on the portions. The meat was seasoned and flavorful without being dry. You didnt need sauce for it because of how juicy it was. They had Mac and cheese with actual cheese pull and the noodles were not soggy. Mac salad was phenomenal too. My husband had the beans and said they had a good kick to them. And oh my god let me gush about the cornbread. Normally cornbread is mealy and dry when I tell you this was more like a cake than a bread that's how nice and moist it was. Just the right amount of sweetness too. They did an amazing job serving the several hundred crew members and their families for this command picnic. Came across this yummy bbq outside of Equinox Miracle Mile while at the park with our son and it was the best surprise! We got bbq chicken and the rib tips - both are 10/10! John Que's BBQ is the best. I was introduced to his smokeout on site deliciousness with a few catered lunches on a TV set the summer of 2024. There is something about walking outside on a warm day to the aroma of a smokeout and for it to be matched with a plate of meats cooked to mouthwatering goodness and sides that are a perfect balance. In 2025 my wife and I hired John for a large backyard party we were having. He was immediately on board to help create a wonderful afternoon for our friends and family. He was upfront on costs (and very fair) and even took into consideration the vegetarians and kids we had in attendance. We will absolutely hire him in the future. Everyone loved it. we had a celebration at my work site. we all were very disappointed. We paid for a meal and all we got was a sandwich because someone dropped the ball and did not bring any of the sides and on top of that some of the buns were soggy and wet. It wasn't even that good very very very very very, very, very, very disappointed will never ever ever choose this place again. They were so nice! SO incredibly nice and it was really easy to set up. They also came almost 30 minutes early which was very nice as well. I ordered brisket/burnt ends, chicken, mac and cheese, beans, and coleslaw. They also gave us some bread and salad which was great. You may be wondering why I only gave three stars...the food to me was just okay. The brisket was very tough and I was unable to eat the burnt ends as they were not tender and I was afraid of losing a bracket from my braces. Also the mac and cheese was underdone and the cheese was not melted so I had to put it in the oven to get it to finish cooking. The chicken was really good as well as the beans. We had them catered at work today, they cooked and served us Smoked Turkey, brisket and Salmon for the mains. Green beans, Mac & Cheese and mash potatoes & gravy for the sides also had cornbread. Additionally they had some yummy bbq sauce for the meats called butt naked bourbon bbq sauce which you can get on Amazon it was really good with the brisket. Great pulled pork sandwich. Cooked just right and the BBQ sauce is top notch. Los Angeles isn't the best town for barbecue, but this is the real deal. The sides I tried were good too. Both the coleslaw and the baked beans were worthy of second helpings. One bit of advice if you attend an event they are catering: get in line early.
