Luckily for us, the hospital took me in so I wouldn't have to come back up here to do this before my surgery date! The hospital has Free valet service! A good concereige staff. And wonderful people to check you in, (Julie B.), and fun, friendly, helpful people in the lab! (Cinda, and (?) I forgot your name; but I loved your haircut ). I'm praying the surgery personnel, nurses, and other staff are just as great. I bet they are! The hospital is beautiful and peaceful! Love the restful feeling one gets stepping inside the front door! Can't wait to see my room! A private suite where Billy will be staying with me! Awesome! "Lord, I pray the insurance covers it all, and I am praying for great surgical results from all in the OR. Amen." Need a peaceful but expensive getaway? Get sick and stay here! LOL! KIDDING!!! So far my review is 5's. I bet it's 10 by the time I leave!

I highly recommend this hospital for your needs if needed! Hands down an amazing stay and experience there.

The ladies at the check-in desk were courteous. There was a slight hiccup with the billing, and it was handled well. They forwarded the issue to the registration department, and we worked it out from there. My registration clerk did a great job. She was fully versed in what she was presenting, and she was able to clearly explain/answer the questions I had. She was efficient and left nothing unanswered. From there, I joined the nurse for the actual pre-op. I'm horrible with getting names, but my nurse was great. Again, everything was fully explained, and she addressed every question asked. Bravo to both of these ladies who assisted me; it was a great visit, and they fully prepared me for what's to come. My only note: Grade F The registration office is a bit too open, and the patient information can be heard in other rooms. They have sliding doors to close off the waiting area, but they do not have doors on the other side. Because there's no way to fully close off the rooms, they are violating HIPAA due to everything being heard in other rooms. I heard the clerk asking for the full name, DOB, verifying insurance, etc. That is not acceptable. Parking: I was in the Justin Tower; they do have valet, but I'd be leery of using it. There was so much going on around the cars, I wouldn't feel comfortable adding my car to the mix. There's plenty of parking around that tower; parking elsewhere would be a short, but brief walk.

So was there for a pacemaker but had to have electrolyte correction and stabilization before that happened. I spent 5 days in ICU and then 3 days on the Renal Unit because had been told a year ago that I had Stage 5 chronic kidney disease. Nurses in the ICU were great. Techs and nurses on the renal unit were great. After stabilization, Dr. Shah (and his great surgery staff) did the pacemaker placement on Sept. 8 about 8 pm. All went very well and was released the next day, Sept. 9. Kidney doctors that I saw reclassified me at Stage 3b chronic kidney disease. I have NO complaints with the hospital, the doctors I saw (which were numerous) the nurses and techs (who were very attentive and caring), the house-keeping staff (came every day to clean room and bathroom) and the food (which was very good, plenty of it, and a good selection). I would recommend this hospital to anybody.

We nominated Andrea Ivory for a daisy award and we pray that she will receive it because she deserves it. Melva also needs to be recognized for her being so active going out her way to make things right.

1 STAR Absolutely…read moreterrible experience at Harris Southwest Hospital. The ER staff came across as extremely unprofessional and showed absolutely no sense of urgency or concern for patients who were waiting for help. Be prepared to spend 4+ hours in the ER just trying to get seen. There were no rooms available, and patients were left waiting with very little communication or assistance. What made the experience even worse was having to be seen and evaluated by a doctor in the waiting room rather than being taken into an actual room. When you go to an emergency room, you expect urgency, professionalism, communication, and basic patient care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. It felt like there was no sense of urgency and no real concern for how long patients were left waiting or what they were going through. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone looking for timely, compassionate emergency care. One star is honestly more than I feel this experience deserved.

I had read several…read morereviews before I decided which emergency room to go to and I chose here, and I am overall not happy with the care I received. I was unsteady and short of breath so I spoke with registration and they quickly had me come into triage. Right there the nurse and provider there did an EKG, blood pressure and spoke with me. They were very kind and I appreciate that. I was told to go back to the waiting room and that I would be seen shortly, I waited maybe about 5 minutes before a young lady very sweet came to get me for a chest X-ray. She was so sweet and it was so fast, and she told me they had a room for me. They also grabbed my husband he was already in the room waiting for me. That was all very fast. The room was very clean and had a tv and chairs. All of that was appreciated. My nurse and tech were also very sweet with getting me adjusted to the room and all set up with fluids, and hooking me up to machines, doing blood work and etc. What I have an issue with is the doctor. She came into the room and wouldn't even let me tell her my symptoms which I had written down since I had been unwell for awhile, she cut me off and said " well why are you here now" and why didn't you go to your PCP. I felt like saying I'm here for fun. Also I told her I just moved to Texas, also it's a Saturday who's going to see patients on the weekend? I told her I had been unwell for awhile and wanted some help and answers. She did all the work up and I appreciate that (that's her job) but she never not once looked at my ears, but proceeded after looking at my results with no obvious signs from the test results, saying I possibly have an imbalance that is caused by the ear. I wonder where she pulled that from if my ears were never even looked at. She acted as if I was bothering HER by coming into the ER for help. This is why I stay away from ER's because people like this make you feel unwelcome or that you're bothering them. I wouldn't come back here that's for sure. Also workers in the hall were swearing to each other, having a loud conversation, it was just very ghetto and unprofessional to say the least. Don't make patients feel like they're a burden- we don't enter the ER for fun.

The team was responsive, compassionate, and highly professional throughout my visit. They moved efficiently while still taking the time to be attentive and thorough. What stood out most was how well the staff listened. I never felt rushed or dismissed. My concerns were taken seriously, my questions were answered clearly, and my comfort was checked on frequently. The coordination and quality of care gave me a lot of confidence. Emergency visits are never easy, but this team made it as smooth and supportive as it could be. Got into rats nest (not knowing what it was) I did not put mask on and breathed this for several hours. I have several medical conditions: COPD emphysema, diabetes, polycythemia vera, high b/p, hemochromatosis, high cholesterol, and a few more. When a friend came by and told me about the Hantavirus, it scared me. I phoned primary doctor, was told to get to ER since I have lung diseases and it's critical for me to be tested asap. Went to BSW emergency hospital explained to them why I needed this test done. A blood test was done and CT scan of chest (I had a bra on with underwire, informed tech but was not ask to remove bra). That will interfere with scan. I ask RN again about Hantavirus test. Was told they can not do it at this facility, I needed to go to bigger hospital. Ok then I needed to go. But I sat there waiting. At least 3 1/2 hrs have gone by. Why am I still here wasting my time and ask to leave. Once they released me, they told me to pickup prescription from CVS 24 hour service. Which I did, ask Pharmacist what the medication was for and he stated my lungs. Then looking at my release papers, they had diagnosed me with COPD and hemochromatosis. WHAT !!! I'm the one that told them that I had these two diseases and had a lung doctor. I didn't go to the hospital for that reason but they diagnose me with that, but I already knew that. I phoned and questioned this and got the run around. Wow, what a waste of time !! They don't allow photos or recordings so I apologize for the few photos I could take. I'm sure everyone has their own opinions about this emergency hospital, but I'm just very disappointed in how I was treated. They must not truly have listened to me. I have their names but I say lesson learned... don't go back !!
