Built in 1841, with later extensions to the rear, this is a listed building and still in use. It's a very striking church which I spent some time looking at today. It
opened as a Church of Scotland church in 1842 and in 1843 it became a Free Church.
It's symmetrically built in sandstone with a three-stage steeple, belfry and a clock (on the south-east side).
Inside there's a panelled timber gallery on three sides supported by cast iron columns. The pews are made of wood. A pair of decorative, curved, staircases lead to a carved wooden pulpit. There are diamond leaded windows with colourful borders and images.
