I thought I chose the best school I could. I think I was wrong because there's a bully not being addressed right because after she attacked a girl she's back trying to fight my child and other girls. I was told someone in office knows her so but that shouldn't have her protected. I did call about the child but nothing happened good enough to stop her from fighting a child almost 2 months later. I've given this school it's fair share of a break but so much has gone down within these past months that I need to talk about, being that there's only about 5 months left of school and my final year here. For the most part, there hasn't been too many fights recently or any that lasted. But I want to talk about the teachers. At least 2 of my teachers are picky about the noise in the classroom. They either dislike when it's too quiet or tell us to speak more. This has been bothering me a ton, because when people don't stop talking the teacher will get upset but when they ask for feedback and no one responds except for a shake of the head they go crazy. When it's the same kid volunteering to answer questions the teachers get upset and ask for someone else. Not everyone wants to speak up, afraid of getting the answer wrong or just generally don't want to. The teachers can't seem to understand what's going on through kids heads on a day to day basis, learning is important but understanding your students is too. Now the coaches. Just yesterday me and my friend were leaving the locker room to get to class a minute or two before the bell rang, no big deal really. We were stopped by one of the male coaches and he told us to put our bags down and run across the gym or he'd write us up for "skipping" when class was completely over by now. This was baffling to me because we weren't skipping anything and we weren't trying to be sneaky about it either. The coaches make everything too much of a big deal. For our grades, they usually put a 95 for every "assignment" in the class as a participation grade. We played mat ball one day and the ball didn't even come to me once and I barely got play time. I received a 70 for not participating which dropped my grade down by over 10 points. This is the most stupid format for grading ever because if someone else is grabbing the ball before me I can't just take it from them and throw it. My science teacher is always complaining about my class because we don't answer questions and we're an advanced class, if she hears a little bit of chatter she counts seconds for us to stay after the bell rings and is always giving out warnings to kids who aren't doing much of anything to earn them. Back to the ID's from before. They are useless. We don't use them at all unless we want to go to games for sports, no one checks them and people have lost there's without a care in the world for it. Everyone in this school has been stooped down to a lower level because of these teachers and staff and it's not going to help anyone with a successful future. Instead of teaching us about scale factor in math -which I'm not sure I'll ever use in my life- we could get an early introduction into finances and how to pay for important things that we will need in our every day life ahead. The teacher's don't care about kids problems and one of mine is always telling us we need to learn how to be independent but all she ever talks about is how proud she is of herself and her kids. There are some serious issues with this school its full of bullies some of them teachers if not bullies some of the teachers sleep in class when you ask for help they just dismiss you my daughter had to deal with it to include being threatened What they need to do is fire the leadership and clean house if not things will just get worse read more

In short, this school sucks. For those who want an essay, here you go: The lunch monitors are stupid. They said that they wanted to not hear any voices or see any trash on the floor, (which is impossible not to get, considering this is a large room full of food and hundreds of 6th graders,) they'd give us assigned seating. They heard one boy speak and they decided they'd give us assigned seating. Most of the regular teachers are also dumb too, they don't recognize any mental illness symptoms when they're clearly there, and the math teachers assign a ton of assignments. They also use the DeltaMath website, which I strongly hate. If you are in a period where your teacher has a sub, pray for it to not be one of those old subs that doesn't understand any of the programs used. For example, I was in my advanced ELA period, and I had a sub. It was a sub that was old and didn't understand anything. She didn't even know what our assignments for the day. The special ed kid in my class was getting really frustrated, and the sub handled the situation very poorly by sending him to the front. The kid then had to leave, but he didn't have his stuff that was still in the classroom. They sent kids to go get his stuff for him, but the sub simply asked if those kids were the special ed kid, and declined their entry to the classroom when they said no. Some of the rules of the school are garbage. For example, there is the "Away for the day" policy where you can't have your phone out during school hours. This includes passing periods and lunch. Apparently, this rule exists because of what the 7th graders did last school year. The dress code is also flawed. No baggy pants if considered too baggy by the people behind the dress code? ...why?? Wow, just by the sheer size alone, it is hard to believe that this is a Middle School. They have an enormous gym, football field, and extra large hallways (needed when you are dealing with thousands of prepubescent kids). The staff is always on top of things and they seem to really connect with the kids. I would feel safe sending my children to this school. read more

I was a student at this school and I got sexually harassed by one of the kids' showed text and everything of him harassing me.The office did nothing about it.Once i was able to talk to the counselor I got a very weird vibe from her.I tried talking to her about it and she kept asking for sexual details and I told her 3 times I wasn't comfortable. Then nothing happened she didn't talk to the kid cause she believed he was a good kid and didn't even call his parents NOTHING.I was very disappointed. read more

If I could rate this school a 0 I would. This school is THE absolute worst. it's called the best school in texas but tell me why there's so many bad reviews. this school doesn't care about anyone but their staff. if a student is s*xually assaulted they do absolutely nothing about it except say "boys will be boys". so basically they're condoning that abuse is ok, which it isn't. They also say that if you're being bullied to tell someone, but do they care? Absolutely not. they ask "do you have proof?" because if not they will not believe you. So Mr. McKenzie and Mrs. Lopez, what kind of students are you guys raising without acknowledging they're bad behavior cuz it sounds like potential criminals in the making without you correcting their behavior and showing they can get away with their behavior. what about the people who suffer from their behavior? I'm a student that goes here and this school is absolutely trash! All the "popular" people think that they are better than everyone else. The dress code is super unfair! Girls can't wear the things they want because it's a distraction to boys! It's not the girls fault that boys can't keep their eyes off of us. Also when a student or a group of them are being bullied teachers just turn their heads and act like nothing is wrong and don't try to resolve the problem. If you are planning on sending your child here, you might want to watch out on that because, our school has so MANY fights! Most of the fights take place in the restroom. Why you may ask? Well, because teachers won't do anything if it's in the restroom. Kids hardly ever get suspended for fighting. The school says we are "The Best Middle School in Texas." Yeah, I don't think so!
