Long-established traditional tailor's shop, located in a Dickensian building that looks as if it's…read moreslipped through a time-warp.But don't be fooled. The tailor here is fast, accurate and efficient - catering at sensible prices to an 'in-the-know' clientele, who make it their first stop for commissions or simple alterations; and that includes everyone from local barristers and footballers, to Quadrophenia mods looking for a recreation of that authentic mid-60s look. All finishing is by hand, but check out some of the old machines some of them dating from the 1920s.Take in your own material, or choose something from the pattern book, and expect to pay a small deposit up front prior to collection of the finished garments.

Ken Ellis is the only member of staff left at H. Coleman, a bespoke tailor that has supplied its…read moreservice to clients for almost a century. He's been there since the early 1960's and this commands over 40 years of experience. As the previous reviewer stated, don't let the interior decor of the workshop fool you. I take an active interest in learning about bespoke garments and Ken seems to appreciate the opportunity to provide you with his words of wisdom. I buy all my material from Holland and Sherry in Saville Row, London which Ken orders for me. Naturally, I'll pay him in advance. But, Ken will charge 1/10th of what the Saville Row tailors will charge and he will produce a suit which will easily match Saville Row standards. I've worn the completed suits and visited the staff at Holland and Sherry and they agree that the quality of Ken's work is superb - so who am I to refute their observations. I've had 3 * three piece suits (black, air force blue and mossy green) produced by Ken and his attention to detail is impeccable. I have another (tobacco) in the pipeline and in the near future, I intend to have Ken make me 4 more suits in black, charcoal grey, frency navy and a dinner suit. Such is my confidence in Ken's ability. I would strongly recommend his service.
