Over the years we have often thought of finding a good custom jeweler to create a beautiful setting for her stone. In July of this year (2019) we moved to Stuart Florida. We took Pat's stone to another local jeweler with decades of experience. The result left much to be desired. We then heard about John David Cooney. We made an appointment to go in to talk with John David. I had come up with a couple of possible ideas and wanted John David's opinion. John David sat down with us, went over our ideas, asked many questions to get an idea of what we were looking for, then began to jot down initial ideas of his own. The end result was a magnificent, hand made, one of a kind, true masterpiece in white gold. John David created an exceptionally bold ring out of white gold that really showed of Pat's large aquamarine to the max. He continues to work on watches (from changing batteries on Timex, etc.) to repairs on Rolex and Patek Philippe. He sells and repairs fine jewelry. He also works on French and English shelf clocks (small carriage size and larger). We met him the other the other day when we brought in an antique wall clock and he politely said that he stopped working on antique clocks about 10 years ago because they take so much time. All the while he was talking, he was unscrewing the clock works and telling us interesting things about it's age, the maker, and about working on time pieces. In the hour we were there having a fun conversation, he unbent a spindle, oiled everything that could have been keeping the clock from working, and explained how to hang it so that it had the best chance of keeping good time. We took it home, hung it on the wall and with a couple small adjustments to make it level, it has been keeping good time ever since. He asked that if I could get the word out that he doesn't fix old spring or weight driven clocks anymore, and I said I would. So there you have it. He'll work on wrist watches, pocket watches, pieces of jewelry or French carriage clock size or larger. GABE WAS WONDERFUL. I would trust him implicitly if I had a valuable watch. Alas, I only have an old wooden wall clock that is working again after 35 years of just hanging around being pretty.

We were under the impression that the earring was created by them and thought a matching earring could be made. They told him to send them $500 and they would try to match the earring. It couldn't be matched, they couldn't "find" a match anywhere, so my husband chose a pair of gold Claddagh earrings. They did not cost $500 and when my husband asked for a refund of the balance, he was denied. Nancy, the Manager, told him he would have to come into the store and make a purchase because they don't give refunds. We live in PA now, so that wasn't possible. My husband said that he purchased a lot of jewelry from them when we lived in Stuart and Nancy said he only spent $250. I have a jewelry box with quite a bit of jewelry from this store, so maybe it was only "worth" $250.00, but he spent a lot more than that. He bought estate jewelry, a diamond wedding band (which cost more than $250.00) , a few emerald pieces, earring and pendent sets, rings and bracelets. Nancy was extremely rude, unprofessional and condescending, denied the refund and said she didn't care if we gave them a bad review because they have lots of customers and didn't need our business and hung up on him. The "store policy" should have been explained before we gave them $500 and it was not. We trusted them because my husband did business with them for over 15 years.
