I love to go at Christmas especially as they have about a million trees decorated and it really gets you in the mood. They sell whole range of christmas decorations at reasonable prices. The cafe is good value but usually very busy. They do everything from tea and a cake to Sausage and chips. Don't forget to visit Joshua's farm shop across the road which is lovely too.

However most people love the variety, and we are talking socks to sculpture and tea pots to tea roses. You need half a day to see it all. Two hours before lunch, which you should take in the very efficient restaurant of course, and an hour after will do you nicely. Great grub to eat and your order appears very quickly, probably due to the busy supervisor who is always checking things are going well. Very refreshing to see someone doing their job properly ! To describe the garden section as 'comprehensive' does not do justice. There seems to be such variety in everything from plants to ponds that most gardeners would surely find anything they needed. Easy free parking, disabled access, most presentations are under cover, staff knowledgeable and helpful. We have watched this business grow for twenty five years and the superb presentation and facilities now are the result of some excellent business decisions by the owner manager who is frequently seen chatting to staff and customers. Congratulations.

At the end of last year we went to visit family and thought we would go in again and have a look around. I went to have a look at the pets and spotted another green cheek conure shoved in a bottom cage with no price. My husband went to enquire as something wasn't right and the more I looked at this conure the heartbroken I got. He had plucked his chest feathers, his posture was awful, his beak was very dry and flakey and he looked very underweight. He just looked sad. I cried in the store. The staff said he had been there for two years, he had no toys and was being fed budgie food, not appropriate for a small parrot. I didn't want another bird but I could not leave him, I bought him and felt awful about the other birds as they didn't look much better! He was £152, I know I can get a breeding pair of conures for less than £90 and they would be in perfect condition. We did get a discount tho. Upon returning home I emailed several times with pictures about his condition with no response. So forget it I thought. Then weeks later he started to have seizures. Off to the vets we went and £100 later after tests the vet said he was in appalling condition and even she felt awful for him, underweight, bad condition, mentally scared and as he had no toys he hasn't learnt any bird skills and just sits all day in his cage doing nothing. Even though he has plenty of toys he doesn't know what to do with them. I am utterly disgusted with endsleigh and their treatment if animals. If it was someone who wasn't clued up on birds, they may have gotten away with it, how can you treat a poor animal in such a way, it breaks my heart and is utterly disgraceful. I have not ever had a reply. The vet said it will take up to 2 years for his condition to get back to normal, and I am so happy that he is finally in a caring home that loves him. Endsleigh, you should be ashamed of yourselves! Visited October 2014

The sold - off pet store is stocked with budget brands, all the small pets and exotics have gone and the Knowledgeable staff replaced by cheap to employ kids. The non garden part of the store has slipped down market, with the premium products that used to be on offer replaced with cheap replicas. Our cafe experience was at best OK, but over priced. Again this used to provide Starbucks coffee, homemade baked goods and excellent food, we had a very expensive cod and chips which was disappointing, and small. Even the food items on the way out were of poor quality, it used to be stocked with hard to get candy and condiments, premium snacks and chocolate and all manner of goodies. It now looks like an Aldi.

It was voted UK Garden Centre of the Year in 2007 by the Garden Centre & Retail Association. It was recently taken over by the Wyevale group. They sell everything imaginable in the gardening sphere, and secured a real coup by being the first garden centre in the UK to be permitted to sell the Wollemi Pine to the public. (For non-botanists, this is a rare pine thought to be extinct, but rediscovered in Australia in 1994: fewer than 100 adult trees survive in the wild, so it is being propagated around the world). This reflects their reputation as a high-quality plant nursery, and is about as high a commendation as you could get. The retail section also sells a wide range of other gardening and outdoor merchandise, from books, cards, ornaments, scented candles and crockery to pets and pet supplies, garden furniture, hot tubs, outbuildings and machinery. There's also a cafe-restaurant, and an extensive play area for children, which includes a large mock-up of a pirate ship. As you'd expect (given its location on the A38, close to to junction 22 of the M5), there's extensive car parking, but the centre also provides a free bus on Thursdays from Cheddar via Weston-super-Mare - details on the web-site.
