It's certainly okay that they don't have a storefront, but it's scheduling a time to see and hear the product that's a problem. Even though day and time was clearly stated and repeated back correctly, he still scheduled it for the wrong day and time on two different occasions. Unfortunately I was only in Portland on travel and haven't been able to make it back.

I bought the Pioneer speaker set designed by Andrew Jones, with two towers, a center channel and…read moretwo bookshelf speakers for side/rear placement. And the subwoofer. I read the reviews of Stereo Dave's modification of the sub, so I was interested. On speaking to Sean Scoggins, who runs Stereo Dave's, I found out they have a "special sauce" to modify these speakers. So, I sent them the towers. Frankly, a significant portion of the cost is in the shipping back and forth. But, even if you double the cost of the speakers, the modification was well worth it. They are much more open sounding, more musical, lighter, more responsive, and more realistic with better separation of sounds and better placement. This is the best-kept secret in audio. I have just sent them the center channel speaker (it has three drivers) for modification - with the towers sounding so good, the center channel was clearly pulling the system down and needed to be as good as the towers! I heartily recommend this service and will send them the other units for modification soon.

Incredible service, good prices, and a shop full of temptation!…read more I recently pulled a pair of Traynor PA speakers out of retirement for a friend's outdoor birthday party. It had been 15 years since I last ran music through them, and this time they sounded unbalanced. I tested them the next day using a pink noise reference track, and confirmed that one of the high-frequency horns was much quieter than the other. I fired up ClaudeAI to find out what options I had for replacement, and it pointed me to a couple places and products online. I'd much rather buy local than from Amazon, so I did a quick search and found JaMac. When I called, they told me they could probably repair the existing horn for much less than it cost to replace it. They asked if it was easy to remove the horn (yes, just 6 screws), and told me how to identify whether it was repairable. I removed the horns, and confirmed it was the type they could repair! I just left the shop, and the repair was 15 minutes and only $16, for a new diaphragm. They tested both horns and confirmed that one was broken. They also tested the speaker crossover to make sure that hadn't led to the damage. The hardest part was leaving without buying a new set of speakers! The shop is full of great deals on really high quality speakers and components, but alas I have no excuse to buy any more speakers.

We've all been there before. You order something from a small website, give them your payment…read moreinformation and then they come back later and say "we do not have the item." Unfortunately, this is becoming too common. When I went to purchase a couple items from DJDepot.com, I was a little alarmed that they had PayPal plastered on their page but when you went to pay the only way you could do it was to present them with your credit card information on the order form. Call me crazy, but I went ahead and ordered from them. I get the news later "we do not have the items." DjDepot.com CONTINUED TO SELL the same items they knew they did not have, that's a Huge Red Flag. Because of all this fishy behavior (is this site even real?) I decided to cancel the credit card I gave them and have a new one issued. Now I don't claim to know much about DjDepot.com but I will say this, this all looks terrible. When you have a site listing PayPal's logo but only directly taking credit card information, delivering no product and continuing to sell the products they don't even have - it looks bad. This wild west behavior is one reason Amazon is cleaning everyone's clocks, so Amazon should thank DjDepot.com. I didn't buy from Amazon, I reordered the products from another tiny retailer although it was a very difficult decision after the experience with these guys.
