You can go in the shop and see two people ahead of you and think you are good. Then you realize that half the barbers are only taking appointments and the other two are taking walk-ins that signed up on the computer as indirect appointments for the next available barber and then left the shop to come back in an hour. So they are extremely busy all the time and walk-ins are a thing of the past. If you want to build your day around a very good haircut, they are excellent. They used to be walk-in and cash only. Take a number and wait. If it was crowded then maybe you stayed or came back another time. Now, you have to login to a computer, give your name and number and select from who is available for service and THEN it will tell you the wait time and schedule your appointment. Maybe. The computer is not prominently displayed, so you just have to know where it is and how to use it. All of the excellent barbers are attending their clients or studiously avoiding your gaze, so you are left to your own devices to get in the system. The place has always been busy and used the first in first out system. I am not sure what problem this system solved, but I saw several clients coming in and not knowing what was going on because it was literally an iPad laying on a counter near the now-empty number machine. It's now a hair salon that cosplays as a traditional barber shop, albeit a salon that gives a great haircut.

Granted, this is an old-school barber who's just doing basic haircuts, nothing fancy like fades or coloring or whatever, but that's OK because a basic haircut is all I needed. Both my boys received exceptional cuts from barbers we knew and I got mine done by a barber who was new to me, and he did a great job too! I was pleased to sample a PBR while we waited, while one of my sons played the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game with another young man. I only guided him to my desired cut with a mix of sample pictures on their wall. He did the rest with perfection. The experience was exceptional, conversations with other locals left me laughing while Dave sculpted my hairline to a profile I couldn't imagine possible.
