It was cooked medium and I guess I shouldn't ordered medium to begin with and a steak on a filipino guised italian restaurant. We visited it for our anniversary, and the Italian bistro interior was truly captivating. They had some watercolor advertisement prints, a nice wine rack, and other touches to sell the bistro atmosphere. The supervisor, Mark, was extremely engaging, and along with our server, Aira, made sure that our visit was stellar. We enjoyed talking with Mark very much. We chose to eat the spinach and artichoke dip, the mozzarella sticks, and two fourteen-inch pizzas. I LOVED the pepperoni pizza. It had a spicy, addictive sauce that really gave it oomph. The assorted meat pizza was great, but I'm not the biggest fan of Canadian bacon. It was still delicious but didn't wow me as much as the pepperoni did. The thin crust delivered on its promise: tender dough under the toppings with a crisp, cracker like crust. We truly enjoyed the experience. The dip had this baked cheese crust that really elevated the taste, and was served with fluffy, flour tortilla, fried chips. This dish was my second favorite next to the pepperoni pizza. The mozzarella sticks were also amazing, with what seemed like hand breading. I'm used to the kind of mozzarella sticks you get in diners, so these sticks tasted a bit... classier? I think that's how I'd describe it. Anyway, I invite you to give Mama Lous in the Nuvali Solenad Mall a try. I think you'll be happy you visited.

With a view fronting Taal Volcano (get there early or make a reservation so you can get a table outside), there's nothing much that can top good Italian food and a hot cup of coffee with the cool Tagaytay breeze blowing around you. My personal favorites are Buon Giorno's risottos, specifically their salmon and sausage ones. Not too dry but not too moist, with just enough meat so you don't feel like you're just eating wet rice. Oh, and just like a lot of other good Italian places, fresh unli-bread while you're waiting for your food is a big, big plus.

We didn't even go to Antonio's. I would have lamented the fact had Buon Giorno not stepped up to console me. First times always have the greatest impact, and just so everything is clear, I have patronized Buon Giorno since and there were hits and misses. But that first time was perfect. The lamb was cooked to perfection, the salads crisp and bright, and the drinks were refreshing and well-concoted. The interiors are really pretty without screaming for attention. While it's not exactly a place people go to see quirky decor, the restaurant is tastefully and interestingly designed. The pastels and somewhat shabby chic interiors make everything feel cozy despite the slightly cramped restaurant floor. If you prefer to eat al fresco, they have many tables outside. View + fantastic food = worth the drive.

Getting a table was easy and the branch was pretty packed passed 12 noon. Later on, most of the customers were seated at one side of the restaurant including us. Penne with Smoked Bangus & Truffle Oil was the most interesting of our orders for its uncommon pasta flavor. It smelled as good as it tasted and the truffle was fairly strong while the noodles were soft. Ripe Mango Shake was typically delicious but we had to follow-up on this after realizing a different table received theirs first. The same thing happened to our All Meat Pizza; after seeing them serve our neighboring table first, we knew we had to wait a second long wait again. A server apologized to us and asked us if we were willing to wait for a new one. Good thing we had more things to talk about while waiting. All Meat Pizza had a decently crunchy crust and the meats were just ham and ground beef that tasted like bolognese. Two-Meat Pizza would've been a less misleading and more satisfying name. The cheese was legit, though; that I can say with a smile. :) The reviews brought us to Bonitos and we can still head back since the servers were still apologetic and friendly. It was nice to have different food for a change.

I will sure be coming back to check them out again when we get the chance to visit UPLB again. Hopefully, they'll stick around for a good many more years!

This place can be easily missed if you're along Sucat road because it's quite discreet-looking and has no parking. But inside is a different story--the vibe is reminiscent of Bellini's. It's cozy, homey, and filled with Italian-themed decor, a leaning tower of Pisa, and so on. You'll forget that you're in bustling, polluted Sucat road! We got the Aglia Oglio Pasta, and a Mushroom Risotto (that they made vegan just for me! Just ask nicely). Both dishes were really topnotch and exceeded our expectations (though to be honest, we had none at this particular time. I mean, any meal after a 10-hour trip from Vigan, Ilocos will be satisfying). Their servers are very accommodating, and at that time they were offering us these really fresh, gigantic portobello mushrooms they had that looked so tempting (but were quite pricey--though to be honest, I STILL think about that moment. What if we had gotten those mushrooms?!?! WHAT IF). Just like Bellini's, at the end of your meal you are treated to a complimentary jigger of Italian sweet wine. Bellisimo!
