During the severe storm on July 21, 2026, the rear room of my home sustained significant water…read moreintrusion due to a roofing failure. The volume of rainfall was so substantial that the gutters overflowed, allowing water to back up and penetrate the roof system. By the time I discovered the issue, there were approximately three inches of standing water on the floor. Fortunately, I only lost a few boxes of documents. My first instinct was to search Google for roofing contractors. I proceeded to call the companies that appeared in the search results. The first five calls were answered by AI systems rather than actual people. On the fifth call, I finally reached a live person, but it quickly became apparent that she lacked the experience to handle the use of a phone. so I ended the call. My sixth call was to Fairfield Roofing, and I only wish I had found them sooner. Had they ranked higher in the search results, I would have saved myself considerable time and frustration. The phone was answered immediately by a real person, Sal, the owner. I explained the situation, and without hesitation he said, "I'll be there tomorrow morning at 9:00." The next morning, Sal arrived exactly on time with his crew. After inspecting the roof, we discussed whether the damage could be repaired or whether a full roof replacement would be necessary. Rather than trying to sell me an entirely new roof, Sal proposed a repair solution that only someone with decades of experience would have identified. It was practical, cost-effective, and exactly what the situation required. As someone who owns multiple properties and routinely manages construction and renovation projects, I have a solid understanding of what constitutes fair pricing. Sal's proposal was more than reasonable. I told him he could get to work immediately and we sealed the deal with a handshake. Over the next six hours, his crew reframed a section of the roof, eliminated a problematic gutter configuration, tied the new construction seamlessly into the existing roof, installed the necessary copper flashing, waterproofed the entire area, and completed the shingle installation. The finished product is exceptional. You cannot tell where the original roof ends and the repair begins. More importantly, the leak has been eliminated. The entire experience reinforced something I believe many businesses have forgotten: customers want to deal with knowledgeable people, not automated phone systems. While Sal was working at my home, his phone rang constantly. He personally answered every call, addressed each customer's questions, and scheduled inspections--many within 24 hours. That level of accessibility and responsiveness is increasingly rare. I'm not suggesting every customer will receive service within 24 hours, especially during busy periods or after major storms. What I can say is that Sal clearly makes every reasonable effort to respond quickly and treat each customer with urgency and respect. Based on my experience, Fairfield Roofing has earned my business for future projects, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. If you're calling roofing companies and the first thing you encounter is an AI answering service, consider what that says about how the company prioritizes customer service. In my case, the contractor who answered the phone himself was the one who delivered exceptional workmanship, honest pricing, and outstanding service.

Texted me a picture of guys on the roof after they had left. Would not give me an itemized invoice without me paying extra. Invoice I was emailed says, "for work done"! Repair didn't work and when he came back to "tar the valley at no charge", didn't actually do anything. Changed his story quite a bit but I have a text chain showing the original conversation. Not the company to choose of you want honest communication or any details. Became accusatory quickly. Not professional. "I don't know exactly what you're looking for. I mean I sent a photos with a few narrow holes that were there, and in the area that the nails were in and the method that was used to repair the holes if you're looking for something more for If you're looking for something more formal on letterhead, I could write a report on on the letterhead with the photos and be specific about exactly what method was used and everything to repair the holes but there's a $450 charge for that"

Not only are they reasonably priced, they are also very professional and experienced. That's the trifecta! I am thrilled with the start to finish of this project. I wanted someone to come out to look at the roof prior to pricing. I thought they sent roofers, but in retrospect realize they were sales agents. They communicated well when it was time to receive payment but did such a horrible job otherwise. There are nails and a hammer left on the property. 1 month after they completed the job, we are still finding nails. I signed the job with them but when it was time to do our gutters, a random company came to my backyard. At no point was I informed the job would be subcontracted to another company. When I complained, they told me those are Gunner workers using another company's truck because theirs broke down. We have had many repairs and this was by far the worst I've ever had. We kept having to remind them to come after they've gotten our money. The gutters are so poorly done that it's raining currently and it's so loud in the house because the spouts are high off the ground. All you hear is the water gushing down to the lawn. Please do not believe the google reviews. They are very positive but the Yelp reviews matched my experience.
