I had a very disappointing experience with Progressive Automotive and Tire Shop…read more I brought my car in for an ABS sensor issue and was charged $720 for what ended up being an oil filter housing gasket replacement. Considering the gasket itself costs around $30, the final bill felt extremely overpriced, especially since I was never given a clear breakdown that justified the cost. What concerns me even more is that I was told this repair was related to fixing my ABS sensor problem. After scanning the vehicle, I don't understand how an oil filter housing gasket would reasonably be diagnosed as the cause of an ABS warning issue. The repair did not fix the ABS problem at all. I was upfront that my main request was to have the work completed within 24 hours. I was informed there would be a $100 rush fee, which I accepted. However, I'm still left wondering where the remaining $620 in charges came from and why the pricing was so high for the work performed. I understand that labor and diagnostics cost money, but customers deserve transparent explanations, accurate diagnoses, and fair pricing. Unfortunately, I did not feel that was the case here. Based on my experience, I would recommend that anyone considering this shop ask for a detailed estimate and explanation of the diagnosis before approving repairs.

KAZ automotive will no longer be getting business from me. I recently retired from the military,…read moretherefore I had to transition registration and tags back to Virginia. The DMV was a far more pleasant experience through this process than kaz automotive if that tells you anything. Over the course of a week, I was turned away twice for a state inspection during their advertised open business hours. There is a lane dedicated to emissions and inspections which I thought was pretty convenient, and on both days the lane was open with a sign off to the side stating their hours (closes at 3pm supposedly). Both times I arrived during active business hours with an open waiting lane, I waited approximately 15 minutes to only be told they are closed and would not accept my business. I tried to plea with the gentlemen asking why I had been turned away twice, and that I do not have a sticker because of transitioning states and this isn't the case of an urgently expiring sticker and I got hit with the "well, that's not my problem"! Well hopefully this review gets to your bosses, and sees how you speak to customers and it does become your problem. At the end of the day, my business will go elsewhere...

None of the repairs had an impact on passing the inspection. Shocked, I felt something was not right so I picked up my car and told the dealer I will seek a second opinion. I found Favio on Yelp and sent him screengrabs of the video sent to me from the dealer. He contacted me immediately stating we need to talk. He told me that the parts were not defective and this is a typical tactic dealerships are using against owners. He also said he could not in all honesty perform repairs when they are even warranted. After about a week of driving, we were going down 95 and heard a loud thud, then the power steering just died. We managed to limp home, but once we parked and checked it out, we saw the belt had come off and there was a major coolant leak. This was never was an issue before, especially since we've taken this car to two different shops in the last year. Including one where it passed VA state inspection. None of those shops complained about any cooling system issue. When we towed it back, they told us it needed a radiator and thermostat and pretty much wanted another $600 on top of the $1,600 we already spent. They wouldn't even cover the tow. They just put the belt back on and had us tow it to another shop to actually fix the leak. The car is still not drivable. We understand things happen and we are not idiots when it comes to vehicle care, but it is incredibly frustrating when a shop tries to avoid accountability. I've tried many times to give them chances but far too often I find myself paying to get something fixed and it doesn't even fix the problem. I feel as though I've wasted so much money with this place. I will say that the business is friendly, professional and they're prices are competitive but if they don't fix the problem in which I initially brought it in for, that kinda defeats the purpose. When they actually fix what needs to be fixed, they're spot on and do very good work. My recommendation and/or suggestion, get a second opinion first, that way you can compare what they find to another qualified mechanic. In my opinion, I'd rather them be honest and say that they can't fix the problem rather then have me waste so much money on things that won't.
