THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR VEHICLE! Absolutely piss poor performance with this company. My brand new vehicle was dragged in parking gear with E-brake on for 20 feet with no skids. When I went to pickup, I asked if it was policy to use skids when owner is not preset. They said "YES". I proceeded to show the employee a picture of the skid marks they left behind, he was speechless. When I asked which clown it was, he said "it wasn't me" "it wasn't me". Called them and after about 10 minutes on the call the guy straight out refused to service us after saying he would send a tow truck right away. Agreed on price and everything, after learning that it was only 3 miles worth of tow he refused. I'd give 0 if I could and drive this business into its grave. The guy sounded like he was hard on his ass eating burgers. The customer service was so bad. We called back and the guy asked "so are we getting paid?" I recently used Joe Rader towing to pull my car out of the ditch. The worker who came to help me was very professional and friendly.

I had a dead battery and needed a jumpstart. I was out of area they would usually travel to for just a jumpstart and suggested another place. I told them I called that place and they quoted me over double what joes quoted and that I couldn't afford it. They called me back 10 minutes later and said they had someone that would be near me for a towing job and would come help me too but it may take a bit to get there. They showed up within an hour and not only jumpstarted my car but was extremely friendly and made sure I knew not to turn my car off for awhile and to leave my window open Incase my car auto locks and I'd be locked out. Rader towing was sent out by AAA to a plowed road. I was at the bottom of slight incline, which driver refused to drive down as it was snow covered. He said if I got pulled to top of hill he would then tow the truck. I arranged for a pull to top of hill and let driver Know, which he then stated his boss said to not provide tow at all, it was to "slippery" . I asked if I got to black top would that work. He said no and the proceeded to BACK UP 2 miles to the black top. As I got pulled by a friend to black top, we followed driver past many driveways where he could've turned around. Asked again at black top and he stated he closed the call and had to get to 3 other vehicles. Rookie driver that did not know how to use the company truck and real jerk. Have heard other stories of Rader refusing service. So I spent 5.5 hours in total waiting for the eventual tow . read more

As far as coming out to jump your car when your battery is dead, Joe Rader is very good. If they offer to sell you a battery, say NO. I bought a battery from them, and it was more expensive than the one I almost got at Fleet Farm. I soon had trouble with the battery. I drove 40 miles, stopped the car and minutes later it wouldn't start. Got a jump and drove on. I call Joe Rader and wanted my money back. He refused, told to bring car to his shop. He charged the battery, 2 months later I was getting out of work, get in car, it won't start dead battery, had to call road service. After the jump I went to Sears and bought a new Die Hard. The Joe Rader battery was defective and would leave you stranded. Joe Rader will NOT refund your money, I paid over $100 to learn this lesson, DO NOT BUY A BATTERY from this outfit! The JOE RADER battery did not even last ONE YEAR!!! The Sears Die Hard has lasted me 4 years, no problems at all. read more

Full disclosure -- I had used Joe Rader Towing once or twice before and found the experience satisfactory. I've found all local alternatives to be comparable on PRICE, and the QUALITY of either this company or any alternative ought be similar because what they provide is pretty straightforward. So, basically it comes down to SERVICE. Whereas prior encounters were acceptable, I encountered a rude, unpleasant person upon calling on Oct. 11 when I had a flat tire (no spare) the evening before my wife and I planned to depart for a 5-day vacation. We needed to get the vehicle to a garage and were calling "after hours" (@ 7 p.m. on a Sunday). The woman answering the phone had an accusatory tone, not in any way helpful, and it felt like a great inconvenience. She was also a very poor listener and after a series of questions started repeating questions to which I had already replied. The experience was wholly unpleasant and unacceptable, especially given our willingness to pay a premium (knowing we were calling after hours). Getting nowhere with her, after about 5 minutes I terminated the call and connected afterwards with Andy's Towing, which I recommend because he made something that didn't need to be complicated rather easy. For Joe Rader Towing, I'm giving 2 stars because they provided acceptable service on one or two prior occasions. If I were ranking Joe Rader Towing solely on this most recent experience, I would be reluctant to give more than a 1/2 star. read more

I called Joe Rader Towing when my daughter's car was stuck on ice on the road in a snowstorm. She was all alone, it was getting late and she had little gas. When I called for a tow truck for her, I was explaining where she was, but the lady who answered the phone barked at me how was my daughter going to pay for this. She hadn't even gotten a description of the car yet. I told her I would be happy to give her a credit card number right then and there on the phone. She took my credit card information. Then she asked again where my daughter with her car was located. I repeated myself several times. She said my location description wasn't good enough. She barked that the tow truck can't be driving around all over in this weather. I said she could talk directly to my daughter. My daughter had a cell phone, just not a smart phone. She had me call my daughter so that she could talk to Joe Rader Towing. She did. My daughter said the lady was extremely rude also and didn't like her location description (which wasn't a complicated location). The lady said it would be an hour. So my daughter waited. I called the county sheriff so they knew where she was in the snow storm. Forty five minutes later, when we thought the tow truck would be getting close, that lady calls my daughter back and cancels the tow truck on her saying that it would be over an hour and they are just not going to come.!!! After my daughter was already waiting, getting close to running out of gas and her cell phone battery getting low in a snow storm. Thanks to the very nice county sheriff, they called a different, very nice towing company who saved the day. read more
