The park is fairly large and even large enough do several laps around the perimeter of it and your work out - done! If you visit the park right before school gets out, you may encounter the carpool pick-up for the elementary school across the street. Planning a kids birthday party? They have the perfect spot for it, which has a covered area that comes with the concessions area (you can use to store food, etc), plus there is plenty of ice! The rental charge is peanuts, plus you can decorate and use time is fairly lengthy.

Add the mixture of trees, bushes, and docks, and you have yourself a very nice scenic elegant park. For activities, there's people fishing and kayaking here and walking their dogs. I have reservations about the playground because of the fact no one seems to do a whole lot of maintenance on them or check for nests. My daughter sat on one of the pieces of equipment and ended up sitting on a nest of yellow jackets. Not only did she get stung once, but four times and she was only 4 years old at the time, poor baby. Luckily she was a tough girl and someone ran to grab us some Benadryl. If an when regular maintenance or cleaning is done at this park, they need to be checking for this stuff or at least clean the equipment so that it does not attract these kind of insects. Other than that, the park is large enough to do a few good jogs around the park and you can get a good workout in. There is ample parking and is well lit for the evening hours.

I really only knew that as being part of "The LSU Lakes". I didn't know that this one had a…read morespecific name. It makes total sense because it is by our city park. With views of beautiful lakeside homes, a golf course and park greens, this lake is surrounded by Baton Rouge beauty. I've walked around the lake many times and the feeling of tranquility always overcomes me. You'll see many joggers, walkers and more expert runners taking advantage of the open space that this lake area offers. You can even paddle board and enjoy the water on a warm Louisiana day. It's located close to the interstate as well, for easy access. Parking is not difficult to find close by either. You'll find some shady spots to sit to take a break from the scorching sun on those hot days.

My complaint with the lakes is that there is not more restrooms or good walking paths around certain parts of the lake. From this complaint, I would have to take away one star. It's a peaceful place with lots of trees and open spaces. There's a tennis court, covered picnic table area, water fountain, benches, two sandy playgrounds, and a walking loop. No restrooms. Recently they built a nice scenic pathway that takes you through the trees to Farr Park, and from there it's a straight shot to the levee- another nice walk and good place to see the sunset.
