Everyone I interacted with was an aggressive prick, in person, over the phone and by email. I hate toxic masculinity. They get an extra star because they did try to right their wrong by offering a $50 credit, doing the existing tattoo at no additional cost and hooking me up with a new artist. I said no, mostly because I want a nice association with the tattoo, and not a constant reminder of this poorly managed tattoo shop. I also wasn't convinced that they could book appointments properly. Be warned, other reviews indicate that management and appointment bookings are weak areas for this shop. I'm not the first person to have an issue with the booking, and I probably won't be the last either...

Both artists had loads of tats - personally, if I was going to go for a tattoo, I would want an artist with lots of body art. The main area is filled with different skateboards, accessories, and clothing. This is a place for hardcore boarders who like to build their own set of wheels. I enjoyed seeing all the artistic and colourful boards and was inspired once again to think about taking up the sport myself.

So I was very unhappy to show up early for my appointment and wait and an hour after my appointment time I was still waiting. I ended up having to leave. The reception girl was lovely and rebooked me for the next day. They booked me with the same artist and I got the rate I would have gotten the day before. Unfortunately the artist was awful. She was conceited and had no manners. She complained about not being able to use the computer and about the design. She complained about the "thin lines" despite there being no demand for thin lines. She ignored my requests. And she chose the font and then proceeded to complain the entire time about it. I got three small tattoos and each one has a problem. One on my wrist has two lines coming off of it instead of one where she had tried to go back over it and messed up. My forearm spacing is messed up (my fault for not bailing and getting it anyways) but she did messed up part of it so the lines aren't clean. When I suggested an edit she told me she didn't like it and wouldn't even humor it. I had to use the pen and draw what I meant. An "&" shouldn't be too complex of an idea. And the biggest problem I have is a colored one on my leg. I asked for it to be shaded and instead it is flat color. It was supposed to have a certain number of lines through it and she messed up and said "oh well". She was very heavy handed and did not hide that she was irritated with me. It is healing horribly. I'm not sure if I had a bad reaction to the colors or what. It bubbled up and when some of it finally flaked off what is left looks terrible. It will definitely need touching up. But there is no way I would consider letting the artist near me again. Can provide pictures of this horror show if needed. She also did not go through any care instructions with me. I had, luckily, been with friends the day before and heard theirs, as well as having had one before. But it seems like something the artist should go through every time. She was whiny and had a bad attitude. I suspect she was mad about having to give me the Wednesday rate (I was fine paying regular rate - I just wanted a quality artist) and her work certainly showed it. The studio itself was great. The other artists I talked to also were. The reception was great. Just the artist was awful. Absolutely awful.

She is so professional and exceptional at what she does. She's the teacher of the students who passed through the doors before starting careers at other places!! I had the carbon facial today. It's not as invasive as the THREE FOR ME but it was something to try. Alyssha is kind and has incredible bedside manner. She knows how to relax the customer, prepare and educate them on what to expect. Such a soft-spoken person, you can just feel you are in good hands. You can trust the whole experience to her capable expertise. EIE Medi spa has been my "go to" for several years now. The prices are unbeatable. The level of professionalism and experience you cannot always find at other laser providers. You can go to a fancy dermatologist or a derma spa, but you will pay for their overhead. This is incredible 'bang for your buck' with the expertise of the teachers who have taught the people that are now working at the derma spas. Check them out for their monthly sales and incredible gift certificate purchases. Unbeatable prices. Superior service. Kind and friendly knowledgable staff. I am a happy repeat customer. And... Trust me- I'm fussy.

I was there once before with a friend who wanted to get his eyebrow pierced and they took really good care of him. I decided to get a couple of body piercings and it was pretty close to closing but they were nice enough to take me in. I got two piercings, since it was get one and get the second one half off. The guy did a great job making me feel relaxed and not scared about getting poked. He placed some markers and if I didn't like the position of where the piercing would go he remarked me. The whole process wasn't too long and while I was getting pocked he kept asking me if I was doing okay. He kept reassuring me I was going really well for never getting a part of my body pierced, except my ears. I felt super strong and brave! The guy was pretty nice and very friendly. That was the reason why I decided to go to The Eye of the Lotus in the first place. When my friend got his eyebrow done the guy who was doing his piercings was just so nice and funny; he totally took my friend's mind off of what was going on. They informed my friend and me (when I got my piercings done) how to clean our piercings. Like I said the joint was really clean and the staff was really nice and very professional. They made sure they did things the right way and they way you wanted.

It's a very busy shop so I'd recommend planning well in advance and booking an appointment. I particularly like that there aren't tattoo pictures hanging all over the wall. They encourage custom tattoos. Mine was taken from a photo that I took while on vacation. The artist drew it on while looking at the picture. I went back for touch-ups and asked him to fix up one of the stones which was no problem. Actually my tattoo got infected and I was concerned about it so I went back to the shop and the owner at the time, Anastasia, assessed it and offered helpful advice. I'm a huge chicken, it took me forever to work up the courage to even call for a consultation. I was nervous back when i got the tattoo, but it didn't even compare to how nervous i was for this. I called and wanted to just book a consultation and the receptionist couldn't have been more nice and helpful. She was actually able to book me in later that same day and said if i decided to go forward with the removal after talking with Ben, he could even do my first session right then and there (Pretty sure my heart stopped, i wasn't prepared for that lol) But i went in later that afternoon and ended up having my first treatment! Ben was SUPER calming and and awesome. Explained everything and was honest with me. Said it wasn't going to be fun, but that he guaranteed it wouldn't be as bad as i was probably making it out to be. And he was right. He even gave me a sucker right before he went to town lol. I was really surprised how quick it was. My tattoo isn't big by any means, but i'd say it was about a minute tops. It feels and sounds EXACTLY like an elastic band being snapped on your skin. Mixed with a really warm sensation. He uses a cold air machine which REALLY helps with the pain. I'll be back for at least another 3-5 sessions i'd say, but having gone through it now, i'm not nervous at all. I highly highly recommend this place if you're looking to remove a tattoo. Its very clean and tidy, and Ben is really great at what he does. You can tell he takes his business very seriously and knows what he's doing.
