We went to check out the playgrounds on this particular day, and there is two separate playgrounds which have their own parking lot. You will need to drive to each one, they are not close enough to walk. The first one was near a shelter and bathroom and had more to do. Though the second one I preferred because it was in the shade but there was no bathroom. This was the only frustrating part because I feel like you have to cut your time short or pack everyone up just to go pee. I hope they consider a solution for this because it's enough of a drawback for me not to consider going again. I have also played volleyball here and I can attest that they are great courts!

It is small but well useful, and it works especially well during events like First Fridays and the Christmas festival as extra space. The playground is a hit with my kids and makes it easy to stop and let them burn off energy while walking around downtown. The restaurant stalls are a nice touch, and grabbing things like hot chocolate in the winter is a favorite for the family. It feels welcoming, lively, and well integrated into the surrounding downtown.

I was always in awe of the experience and wanting to try it. This was my first time camping. The camp grounds were clean. Our group camp site was in an extremely shaded area surrounded by trees. There are many trails here for hiking and I enjoyed this. I found a replica of an old frontier-style schoolhouse. It's what the school looked like 100 years ago. That was interesting. Since this is a camp site nothing about it was luxury of course but the most peaceful aesthetic was nature and the soothing effect the experience had on my nervous system. I brought all the things to be comfy. There were showers and decent bathrooms on the camp ground. This was less about amenities and so much more about embracing slow living. A place where no one is in a rush! The camp ground attendants were awesome. They came around daily collecting our trash. I do recommend this park for camping.

You can access the playground by entering the Trails End Apartments. It's a pretty solid playground, honestly. One swing set has 4 swings and the other one, located on the complete opposite side of the playground, had 1 regular and 1 baby swing. There is also 2 play sets, one for older children and one for younger ones. One thing I really enjoy is the rock trail surrounding the playground. 10 laps = 1 mile, according to signage. Additionally, they call the trail a prayer walk. Each lap represents prayer for a different reason, which is amazing. I also love it because adults or adolescents can walk around it while children play. You pretty much can see every part of the playground no matter where you are on the trail. I did a little over a mile while I was there, according to my Apple Watch. I forgot to count the laps to see if it was accurate, lol. The only thing I dislike is one of the rules they have posted. Specifically, rule #4 says "Do not use the playground during worship services. (Join us inside instead!)". That bothers me because while I can see the intent, it's a missed opportunity. If people are playing on the playground during worship services, they may hear a word or a message from a speaker, or even be lead to the church by God or a spirit. Additionally, rule #3 says "Share the playground with all who wish to play". If I read rule #4, that may deter a non believer by not making them feel welcomed. But hey, that's just my opinion and thought process on it. You can't have partial inclusion ‍ Overall, I would return. Like I said, it's a solid playground. There is street parking and also about 40 parking spaces. They also have 2 benches as well. I do think there should be more as it is a solid size playground.

It took a bit of travel for us, slightly over an hour each way, but it was worth it! The grounds here, the trail, the surrounding river, and the playground all make for the perfect day for kids and their parents, too! The nature trail is packed well and overall very stroller-friendly, with shortcuts in case you need to cut your walk short. There are also lots of great vantage points to sit for a moment and take in the scenery, if your kids will afford you that luxury. As for the playground, this is one to remember. It is so unique, constructed out of wood and fitting right in with the natural vibe of the surrounding woods. And the added bonus is listening to the flowing current nearby while your young ones enjoy going down the fish slide, swinging, and building a fort with bamboo. Also a lot of good spots for bird watching here! Be sure not to miss the part of the trail by the gravel parking lot. That takes you to the waterfall area, and there's a spot with 4 hammocks rigged up for kicking back and enjoying! Make a plan to come visit this place on a warm, sunny day. If you like nature, you and your family will love this! And if you are a history buff, interested in environmental conservatism, or a homeschool parent, this area is a good experience and opportunity to learn about the Saxapahaw/Sissipahaw natives' life on the Haw River and the development of the hydro mill as a source of energy. This area checks boxes for spiritual wellness, educational opportunity, and physical exercise as well. Aside of that, just fun and enjoyable!

This was our first time on any rides, and we went on the train first. The train made four laps around the track. For the first two lapse, our granddaughter was getting used to the train. By the third lap, she was OK and started pointing things out and enjoying it. By the fourth lap, it was all smiles and excitement. We also bought a ticket for the boats, and we're the only people there. But she was not ready to ride by herself, so that got nixed. We were going to get tickets for the carousel but the little one was getting tired so we left to head home. All of the people working there were super polite and friendly. The park was spotless and well maintained. The cost of the rides was only a dollar or a dollar fifty, which is a steal. They had snacks beside the ticket booth, but we didn't have any. All in all, this is a wonderful place for families or even couples to just enjoy the beauty. Five stars all day long!
