If your vehicle is towed by Jay Balor after an accident in Chesterfield, prepare to turn over the title to your car to Jay Balor Towing. The Chesterfield police put a "hold" on my Jeep for 30 days after the accident, I could not get it out of their tow yard or touch it. The vehicle had minimal damage and I had a cash offer from another company to tow it out and sell it for parts. Jay Balor Towing informed me they were charging me by the day, during the 30 days Chesterfield Police had a hold on it. Over $1600. They then told me I owed that full amount ..or... I could turn over the title to my car to them. I don't have that kind of money. That car was my family's only vehicle. I turned over the title and asked if I could have our belongings and the license plate. The car was already in the process of being taken apart. Our belongings were gone. Now I receive a notice of abandoned vehicle at Jay Balor Towing from the court. They told me I could have tried to get my car back through this abandoned vehicle notice. Too late. Court told me to contact Jay Balor to .. remind them .. The woman screamed at me, told me they sell cars to another company to part out, and hung up on me. I'll take the L, I didn't have a choice. I think Jay Balor being contracted by the Chesterfield police allows them to scam people. Just a word of warning. Zero stars. read more

Joe Ballor towing is one of the worst towing companies I've ever dealt with. I would not have chose them however I had no choice because of the circumstances. I would have been stranded if the cop that came to assist had not called them and got them there right away and then taken me home. I first went to their office on Friday March 23rd to sign off on an invoice so that they would release my car when the insurance company had it picked up. After doing so I asked if they needed anything else and was told no and so I thanked them and left. Today I received a phone call from my insurance company who informed me that Joe Ballor towing called them and would not release my car to the other towing service company until I came down there and yet signed another piece of paper to release the car. I then called Joe Ballor towing and spoke with a different lady from Friday who told me yes you need to come down and sign the invoice so that I can release the car to the towing service driver that's here to pick it up. I then said to her but I already came there on Friday and signed the invoice for you to release the car she then told me no you need to come in and sign it on the bottom. I then said are you kidding me I'm in Madison Heights right now at my work's office. Are you going to reimburse me for the gas money to come all the way down there and sign it again or can you just take my authorization over the phone to release it to the driver? She said no you must be present here at our office for me to release your car and I said okay fine and then I left and headed over there and signed the invoice. I then asked this lady if she needed anything else or was she all set and she said no I don't need anything else so I said okay thank you there goes another $10 (for my gas) and left. I was halfway home and then I received another phone call from the other towing service company telling me that Joe Baylor towing now wanted $75 to release my car to the other driver. At this point I was fuming and said OK no problem I'll head back there now and pay them their $75. I got back there and went into their office and told the lady what do you need now? She then explained that she needed $75 for the tow and that she couldn't bill it to my insurance company. I said you're kidding me again, this is a joke, right?! I then lit into her and her staff like a firecracker going off tossed my debit card at her, paid the fee, got my debit card and my paid invoice and walked out. After I walked out I walked back into the towing yard to find out what was happening with my vehicle. The driver who was taking his sweet time finally pulled the flatbed tow truck out and parked it alongside the row of wrecked cars rather then in front of my car. He then walked toward my car and was pulling my car key out of his back pocket. I said to him what are you doing you can't drive my car the radiator was punctured and all the fluid leaked out you'll ruin my engine. He responded oh I'm just driving it on to the flat bed that's not very far it won't hurt. Ivan said to him if you so much as turn that engine over even once I will hold you and Joe Baylor tone responsible for any and all damages to my engine or any parts affected thereof. Then he looked at the car and then he looked at me he looked back at the car and he looked back at me again and then he walked over to his tow truck cab got in and pulled it around and backed it up in front of my car and loaded it properly. He finally pulled it out of the yard onto the street that borders their towing yard and unloaded it as I watched him for the other tow truck to then back up and loaded onto their flat bed. This entire ordeal cost me 2 hours and $75 plus gas. I will never allow anyone to call Joe Ballor towing to pick up any vehicle I own now or in the future. read more

Absolutely horrible service the dispatcher very rude and nasty the tower said out his mouth he was going to have to break the bumper he then broke my radiator hose which is exactly what I heard I asked him what it was he said if I would have to guess it was the freon when while saying all kind of remarks under his breath then when we got to the shop he said "They were lucky they didn't wrap it around the pole" these people are utter ridiculous rude and disrespectful when I called the dispatcher hung up on me multiple times then said she would call back after speaking to the tower she called back talking about the only derogative thing he said was "they lucky they didn't wrap it around the pole" then started screaming you're trying to blame us as if she was the person towing the vehicle and instead of listening she was on the defense of the tower. Had a bronco pickup by your company ,the person who came to insure bronco was taken on schedule.. I told your driver prior ,I did not want him on property but your driver was allowed to remove vehicle.. 20 minutes later seen your driver and unwanted person on back of property. They crossed a no trespassing sign the roped off entrance... I stated I did not want him on property, your driver asked if my name was on deed, which I said no my fiance is,I have been paying rent here for 4 yrs. An argument had started with trespasser telling your driver not t9 listen to me because I don't own property. At one time trespasser squared up like he was going to fight, in which I asked him why are you squaring up. Driver went back to get Bronco and the person trespassing was loading a seat in the front of property ,which he was allowed. I went back to were driver ,trespasser decided to now driver his truck on the back of property. I again was yelling for him to leave property, and he was saying that he didn't have to because I wasn't owner. At that time your driver got my attention, told him i can't hear y9u,then he said ,You go in the house,until I'm finish. At this time I could see this wasn't going anywhere good.And retrieved to my home.. NOT ONE TIME DID YOUR DRIVER TELLVHIM TO STAY AT THE CRUB WETE HIS TRUCK WAS FIRST.. My Fiance the home owner never gave trespasser permission to be on property, your driver was the only one with permission.. I feel all of this could have been prevented by your driver not allowing him to cross a posted no trespassing, and saying I had zero say who enters property. The incident could have been very violent. Since trespasser is 82 ,no reason for any further.. to go any further.. Driver was told at the beginning that if I had no say over who enters property, to wait until home owner gets home. He refused and that when all he'll broke loose Trespasser, has been notified to never enter property ...very disappointed on how this was handled and told I had no power or say in my on home read more

Joe Ballor Towing is not a customer service company. They are only concerned with making money and greed. The tow operator that arrived at the tow scene was dishonest and did not communicate with clearly with me. He misled me and hooked up my car when my insurance had sent out another tow company. Ballor arrived first and proceeded with the tow. I was charged an excessive amount of money and my car was placed in an impound lot. I needed cash to get the car out by noon the next day or would incur more daily charges. My insurance company was a free tow to a collision shop. I am out hundreds of dollars and very upset with businesses taking advantage of people in need. this experience left me feeling like Ballor bullies customers and other tow companies. I had to use Ballor for a secondary tow out of their yard because other local tow companies wouldn't even except my tow service call. I do not recommend Ballor. My 16 year old daughter in need and myself learned a valuable lifetime lesson about towing and insurance tows. We are educated and will not let this happen to us again. read more

But when he delivered my car to the location, he parked my car the incorrect way in front of my house. This caused me to have to pay $95 to get the car turned around. Watch out for debris flying off of loads hauled by Ballor. Rocks coming off of a piece of heavy equipment on a Ballor oversize hauler broke the windshield on my brand new car, costing me both in money and insurance increase. Ballor doesn't care that they damaged my car, and potentially caused injury, insisting that Michigan is a "no-fault state," so their drivers can do whatever they want on the road. I called AAA for a flat tire on the side of the road. Twice I was told "they are on their way now". The second time, I asked them to inform the tow company that a police officer is wasting time sitting there waiting. I should point out, this was less than a mile from the tow company. I called the tow company directly, and was met with the most unpleasant woman ever. I reiterated that a police officer is sitting here with me and my toddler, waiting for this tow truck. "We didn't know that". Yes they did, because AAA told them, twice. I would say this is not their norm, but that would be a lie. I have lived in this area my entire life, and this is how it always goes. Office staff is rude. Once, I was forced to wait for 5 hours, in the dead of winter, with a 3 month old- at that time their office staff was rude as well. I cannot fathom how this tow company stays in business, other than its really the only one around here. Between the rude office staff, and the lack of prioritizing or worry about the safety of the customers. If you need your tire changed, call a friend. If you know someone with the capability to tow a vehicle a short distance, call them instead. Do not deal with the absolute miserable people in their office. read more

My roadside assistance connected me to this company when i got a flat tire at 10pm on a Tuesday. The driver called me asking me question that were unnecessary nor not even relvent to his job and what he should be doing like "how i am getting to the dealership". I was told by him that i need to fill out paper work at the dealership when clearly a dealership is not open at this time then demands he needs to look at his gps and hangs up. He then arrives and tells me to do his job for him by backing my car up to his truck to get it on the truck as he's demanding again that i need to talk to the dealership first, and telling me it's there policy they can't tow a car with out the dealership being open. As i told him the lady that called me for GM said it's okay to do that and he proceeded to be snappy at me as a young 23 year old girl and this is a grow adult male, so i told him don't tow my car and he proceeded to say "oh no i'm towing it" after he just told me from the policy he couldn't.. then i told him to get the fuck out of my car and leave and i'll find a different company to do it. as he proceed to tell me i have attitude after he got there being an asshole to me. Absolutely with out a doubt the worst service I have ever had to use. We didn't call them the car was taken by them, fine I understand it's their jobs. They literally threw every single formality to not give us the car back. Threw us through every hoop there was and made sure to make us complete everything "the next day" because of course with their hours there was no way we could do it the same day. Every time we did something then came back they'd say it wasn't enough and create another reason just had to wait, literally every single time. We went to get our car back Friday, they said they were closed and to come back tomorrow (they just took our car they were open for 10 more minutes) they should have taken us. Saturday we come back with everything they ask for, I had called prior and made sure we had everything and knew how much waited on hold for 23 minutes only to be hung up on and had to recall and wait again. The women In the office are absolutely disgusting people. They are rude and lie and just bleed you for money. They literally accused us of forging a signature because we had just purchased the car and hadn't been to Secretary of State yet to change the title (a printed copy, we had our signed copy). So we brought everything she said we'd need. A letter with a picture of the original owners license. She literally made up a story that the license signature didn't match the one on the letter. Literally a letter with her license attached like she thought I conned the women into sending me a picture of her license. She wouldn't listen to me at all no matter what I had said. She wouldn't call the number the original owner had left in her note. She wouldn't even let us get our moving boxes out of the back. (That's why we drove it, we were moving from Waterford to new Baltimore and couldn't afford a tow truck, we are currently fixing the car up.) So the original owner called again when I had left because of course they took so long that had closed and she was told they even called the police on us for suspicious behavior. We dealt with that and put a counter complaint with the police. We were told by the police to just go back Monday with a new printed title. We came in Monday (today) had everything in order, everything they told us we needed. It took two hours its getting close to closing they now say we need to go to Secretary of State and change our address on our license before we can pick it up. I told her I was told mail would suffice as proof, she argued but ultimately said yes. I had my father bring up 6 pieces of mail with my address they only said two would work, a bill, 3 letters from the government she wouldn't accept as separate letters even though they are clearly different departments seriously trying everything to make us keep our car there again. I went to the car found one more and finally they gave me our car after another 30 minutes of "processing". This company is going to get a letter from my attorney. This whole process was ridiculous and dragged out for absolutely no reason other than the want for more money. They are absolutely a disgusting disrespectful company and they need to be shut down. We were there for hours each time while they talked amongst themselves and people were left on hold for well over 20-30 minutes on the phones while they ignored them, I myself was one of them and then they hung up after 20 minutes of me being on hold. They are ran poorly and need to be reported (which I have already done so today). We had a similar situation last year with buying a car from my father. It was impounded for being parked in the street. Same circumstances the title wasn't in my name all I had to do was bring the signed title and my id and we got the car back. This whole situation was blown way out of proportion and drug out just for the sake of money! Don't use them ever! read more

I went to this company to hire them as our tow company, for our condominium association. We have a bylaw that states, no parking form 2 to 5 am and violators will be towed. We have signs posted throughout the complex which say the same thing. When speaking to the man behind their plexiglass window, he told me oh no - they can not tow a vehicle if the person owning it lives in our complex. I told him, we have already had vehicles towed by another company. He restated emphatically, call the Macomb County Sherriff's Department. They will tell you the same thing. I left their office and called the Macomb County Sherriff's Department. They informed me Ballor's Towing was wrong. We are private property and we can tow vehicles of our choice. Seems to me they just did not want our business and lied to me. Thus, we will not be contacting them again. I guess the owner must be making a lot of money and doesn't need more business. read more

Towed our parked vehicle after an accident without authorization. The tow we had arranged through our insurance showed up and the car was gone! We had to call around to figure out where it was. Ballor claimed the police made them tow it, but the responding officer personally called us back and said that was not the case--even the police report indicated we were getting a tow from another company. So on top of the initial fee for the unauthorized tow, Ballor wanted to charge our insurance for a re-tow to the body shop of our choice. Wanting to get the car to the shop ASAP since it was a Friday afternoon, we reluctantly agreed and were told the car would be delivered Saturday morning at the latest. Monday morning rolls around and the body shop calls us to ask where our car is because they had it down for delivery and our insurance agent was there waiting to inspect the damage. Despite numerous calls from me, the insurance company, and the body shop, it still took them over two hours to deliver our car. Total scam! read more

My Son was in an auto accident. Cops called Ballor's for pickup of the vehicle. Ballor's told us it would cost $270.00 to get the car out. Once we got there they would not let us remove the vehicle from their lot. They took the car and dumped it on a side street and charged another $35.00 for the effort. Shake down artists.
