I stopped here prior to dining at The Charleston. The charming area that houses these two businesses comprises some other shops, and all together, they form a sweet little street that is a pleasant way to spend an hour or two.
As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the owner and artist who proclaimed, "Come in! You don't have to buy anything!" Galleries can feel a little intimidating sometimes. Most people are not really looking to buy, and at least for myself, I don't want anyone to feel like I'm wasting their time. He was lovely, though: friendly, sharing stories about pieces and answering our questions. He is clearly passionate about his work, and it shows both in the beautiful art displayed, and his conversation regarding it.
It was not all one medium. We discovered sculptures, woodwork, pottery, and paintings. Some creations were attributed to at least one other artist, but there may have been more featured as well. It's a cozy space, and this encouraged taking time to appreciate each piece on its own. I actually ran into a friend here, who purchased a sculpture for her son. The prices are not outlandish, especially for one of a kind works of art. If you are in the area it's worth taking some time to explore. read more
