After a staff lunch one day one of my coworkers convinced us to take a detour to Keeping Up with the Joneses before we headed back to work. I am so glad I did. This little shop is the perfect size. It's small, quaint, and has just enough to browse without being overwhelming. We started with the clearance rack outside and the clothes were so cute! The sales are really good! One of my coworkers scored a gorgeous blue and white work dress and a pink and coral lace dress for a wedding reception--both on sale for $50! They had some cute white shirts with black printed sayings on them. I got two that said "Chanel and Champagne" although I was really in love with the "You had me at Merlot" shirt. They just didn't have it in my size. :-( The sizes available go up to size 14. If you look hard enough you can find some items in XXL, but the selection is small, so keep an open mind. I plan to regularly stop by to see what is on sale and maybe fall in love with more of their clothes. I spotted some gorgeous dresses and tops, but again my size wasn't available. There's a small fitting room in the shop. It's located in the back of the store, which is also where Aria Salt is (they share the space). One thing that I really love is that the material of the clothes felt thick and durable. You can tell the clothes are well made and will last. The owner was friendly and helpful, giving tips on what kind of shoes went with my coworker's dresses and ringing us up quickly. I also scored two large stemless wine glasses for 50% off each. I'm loving my new wine glasses! Can't wait to go back to Keeping up with the Joneses!

On Pistols & Pearls' website, I found a turquoise petal necklace and a tunic that I just had to have. I went through the easy add-to-cart process, entered my payment information and hit 'submit'. Once I was back on the homepage, though, I noticed that they had a '10% off a $50 purchase' coupon code that I didn't have the chance to enter before my order was on the way. Quickly calling the store, I spoke with a super-nice girl who advised me that she'd take the 10% off my final total before shipping the order to me. Sweet! What's even better, is that I received a shipping notice not an hour after I had called the store. And less than two days later, the necklace and tunic were on my doorstep... and were even more beautiful than I had imagined. Talk about quick service! I'm not too far from Midlothian, so a trip there is in the works and I'll definitely stop in to have a look around!

I wanted to buy a pair of cowboy boots and Cavender's was the first place I stopped at. Compared to places like Lucchese's, this place has boots that are on the affordable side. The first pair of boots that I tried on were the ones I ended up purchasing at the end of the day. I opted for suede instead of leather, since I was looking at them for more of a fashion statement. What I love about my boots is that it doesn't really look like cowboy boots and I could wear them with anything. Jimena was the employee who had kept them on reserve for me while I perused the other boot stores to see what else was out there before making a commitment. I am so happy with my purchase and I highly recommend coming here.

When I walked in, it struck me as the hollywood-version of a frontier town hatter's workshop, intended as a movie set for an old western moving picture show. Wooden head forms sat like statues on rows of shelves. Ancient presses and tools were left in disarray, as though the workman had just walked away a century ago. Only one of three ceiling fans creaked lazily to stir warm air inside the cavernous chamber. It was a snapshot of a moment in time, and I was enchanted. No one greeted me until I had poked around for a minute. Then, a kindly-looking young gentleman appeared from a doorway and asked if he could help. I was welcome to browse and ask questions. The great-grandson of the original owner returned to his bench in the rear workroom and left me to nose around the place. Time-travel is possible, as Peters' Hat Shop proves: all of the original manual equipment, wooden forms, tools, and materials from nearly 99 years ago are not only preserved here, but still used daily to create hand-crafted headwear for discerning gents. You can see my photos. I would have gladly paid for a museum tour here, but it continues its life as a working hat shop. The selection of off-the-rack styles and range of sizes is sure to suit most men, with straw fedoras, bowlers, sun hats, and more. Peters' house-made specialty is the classic cowboy hat, but they can make (or renovate) any style you wish. Custom orders are currently backed up six months out, according to the owner, but quality is surely worth the wait. Check out Peters' history at its website: http://www.pbhats.com What a treat it was to stumble on this place! Next time I'm in Fort Worth, I'll be back for another hat shop experience, and maybe put in my order for a John Wayne or Tom Mix.

Fincher's at the Stock Show where they had a booth selling Justin Boots -- and the experience was outstanding. Earlier that day, we visited several other booths and honestly felt disappointed. There was very little assistance, and most places seemed overpriced and uninterested in helping customers. Then we wandered into C.B. Fincher's booth and were greeted by J. Morton -- and everything changed. J. helped fit our twin boys and was incredibly patient with them as they tried to figure out what they wanted. He had them try on multiple boots in various sizes and took the time to teach them what to look for in the "perfect fit." He didn't rush them or push a sale. Instead, he focused on making sure they understood the fit and felt confident in their choice. He also made sure we, as parents, were completely comfortable and happy with their selections. The boots worked out great, the price was very fair, and the quality is excellent. What really stood out wasn't just the product -- it was the service. J. Morton was a true salesman in the best sense of the word. It was obvious that he cared more about making us feel welcome and taken care of than simply making a sale. Great prices. Great quality boots. But the real star of this western store is the people. Real quality products and real quality people. We'll absolutely be back. If you'd like, I can also shorten this into a more punchy Google-style review version.
