During World War II the townsfolk used the caves for protection against air raids. In more modern times, the caves were used as banquet halls and for raves.......recognizing the potential hazard to the structural walls ( as they are only sandstone & one can scrape sediment away w/ one's fingers ) the site was closed off and is currently being turned into an educational / tourist destination Layers of mineral deposits show where this was once all underwater from the swirls in the pattern of red & tan layers They prefer guided tours - hardhats are issued at check in & you can reserve tour guides who speak a variety of languages We walked around the 1 level they currently have open - there are large buttons along the way which will light up parts of the cave & showcase various points of interest. We saw roots from trees on top of the mountain we were currently under; the "Throne Room" with its huge, cavernous rotunda; and a banquet hall that still had a large wooden table in it - must have been where they held their events. The process to get them were simple with the help of the Daenner Transportation Office handing us instructions and information on what we needed to do and how. We got there and were in and out in about 15 minutes which is great, but like I said, customer service sucks. When you come here you need to have your application, German License, secondary identification, and pictures. When my husband went up, she picked a picture he wasn't too fond of and asked if the female could use the other one. At first she ignored him and so I asked for him when she asked me for my papers, she looked at him and he repeated his request, she rudely said that all the pictures were the same and refused to use another picture. She basically ignored him and kept going. In my opinion, these licenses are OUR identification's, IF we want to use a specific picture we should be ABLE to chose what photo we want, especially if they're in accordance with their specifications. To get the picture I wanted, I had to scratch out the faces with a permanent marker to make them unusable, so if you're going here and have pictures on the photo fix that you don't want to use, make sure you cut out the one you want or scratch out the ones you hate because these people will NOT let you chose, and they will be SUPER rude about it. German's I tell you, some really dislike Americans just like the peach that helped us.

27/10/2021 Serene…read more Beautiful. Peaceful. It was pretty empty on this crisp, fall morning. The sound of water can be heard throughout the property and makes it so easy to relax here. You can hear the traffic from the outside street at times but the sound of the water helps to drown the city noise. It was 5,50 EU per adult. Not sure about children. They do have a snack shop that was open that sold daifuku "good luck" Mochi and rice balls. There were other things but those two delicacies looked delicious.

They have everything it's like a Macy's but way better because they have alcohol and a huge selection of shoes casual and athletic. It's a mini foot locker inside of the PX. They literally have everything I'm going to school shop there from now on. Plus they have other stores and kiosk as you walk through. This base has lodging , gas station and an airport its big. And just like we always say in America big is better lol. No it's a cool, clean well kept base though.

I was just there last year and the park has been updated. I must say I'm very happy that the very long slide is till there along with the small zip line. There is a great restaurant nearby and restrooms are very clean. Lots of tourist pamphlets to pick up here including the bus schedule and various bike routes. If you have a question on how to get somewhere on the bike trails the locals are very happy to help. There are various trails to take in the woods. The actual Devils Table is an amazing sight to see. It hasn't changed much and that is good. Take your climbing boots and be ready to use those legs to get you up to ride the "slide of life". That's what my family calls it.
