The line just didn't move and we were at the head of it. It's a great store with just about everything you need when it comes to crafts and sewing. The fabrics are on a huge sale right now. It's really the only game in town in its category other than Walmart. Michaels doesn't sell fabrics. If you do shop here often, it's best to download their App. It will always save you money, even if there is a sale going on. Cut remnants were 75% off. Some fleece was 60% off. I ordered a sewing machine online, went to pick it up and was told that the machine couldn't be found in the store. No offer for substitution or compensation for my drive. The worse customer service. The thin old lady with blonde straight hair who normally works in fabrics, is absolutely the rudest. Is she prejudice against beautiful people? I don't know. But what I do know is SHES RUDE EVERYDAY OF HER LIFE!! Never a smile or a kind word! Im not one to complain but since I'm waiting outside the store with 20 people ahead of me and the lines not moving AT ALL, I've decided to multi-task. Waiting out here at a stand still, for over twenty minutes allotted me the perfect to complain. Furthermore the cashiers are rarely kind either. They all look like they hate their lives. Joann fabrics needs to start paying their employees better. At least that's the first thought that always comes to my head whenever I shop here. Joann fabrics should be known as the place that employs miserable people. The cashiers never smile, and literally every other employee looks like their mental health is hanging on by a thread. I asked the lady in the fabric cutting area if they had a different color of fleece, and her expression did not change from her miserable looking face, and she didn't even respond to me vocally, she just shook her head and frowned at me. Stood there for over 10 minutes by myself trying to find the right sewing machine while all the employees just walked past me with no help. I finally get help and after 10 minutes having to stop an employee they tell me the product I'm looking for is not in stock. Walked in to purchase some high density foam and fabric to make some pillows. Found the foam $25, thread like $4 and some fabric with no price. Now the first thing you learn in sales is SELL! The lady was so hung up on the fact that because there was no bar code on the clearance item that she could t sell it! Instead of searching for a comparable item and pricing it accordingly she insisted it was corporate policy that she could sell it and we should find another fabric. Since I wrote my last review I have since change my opinion. They have gotten a lot better with customer service and have hired more help. I love their specials and the fact I can use as many coupons as I want as long as they have different numbers and even competitors. I always find things to buy, that is the only downside (lol). I am not sure where these other people have been shopping, but I have been coming to this Joann for years...even at its previous location in Coral Springs. The staff is well informed and willing to assist. Maybe some shoppers don't understand that when a fabric cutter is working on an order with several patterns, they simply have to wait! Some times, there are lines in any store...Publix, Walmart, etc. If one doesn't have time for retail, then go home and order on line! Rudest people in such a stressful time like the COVID-19. My mother waited in line for almost an hour wanting to get in, the store was set to close at 7pm (and she arrived before 6pm) and two young kids part of the staff came out to literally treat everyone (including my mother) the rudest way possible saying they were closing early without any reasoning. I assume they wanted to end their shift early but that still didn't justify that there were people waiting to get in and they just decided to be rude and not even explain the reason for closing early. My mom just needed one item and the young associate came out and said that "he couldn't help her because if he had to help her he would have to help everyone". Consider changing your management to people that are more prepared for these kinds of roles. Specially during this time, a company like this needs empathetic and professional people, not kids. read more

This is a fun place to go for all your sewing and crafting needs. They have the biggest selection of fabric in the area. Okay, I know this isn't saying a lot, but at least it's something. There are sewing machines and accessories and notions. The crafting section has a large variety of supplies for all kinds of crafting projects from bird houses to fabric painting. There are always current seasonal favorites, like gingerbread house kits. The prices are generally reasonable. The best thing is that you are allowed to "stack" coupons and there are always plenty available, along with different store specials. The big issue here is a lack of sales associates when you need to check out. I've never been there when we didn't have to wait for an unreasonably long time to check out. This seems to be prevalent with the chain. It doesn't matter which location we go to, it's always the same. I even read a review of a location in CA that had the same complaint. If they would make it easier to get in and out, I'd probably give it 4 stars, but I get tired of the same issue all the time. read more

Rude employee makes my Yelp rating so low. We walked around the entire store looking for what we needed... did not see any employees to ask for help. Finally in the very back corner of the store I found a girl with a headset on. I asked her my question and she replied with.... "did you press the button on the desk for help." I looked at her for a minute then pressed the button that was right infront of us. She touched her headset and said "oh the help button worked. How can I help you?" This is a tough one for me, because if you need fabric and/or sewing/project items, this is my go-to place, but the staff are usual never available to help and lines are often long. Store: Jo-Ann's is conveniently located in Shopping Center (next to Home Goods) off of Sample Rd. and 441 (just past Casino) in Margate. They have a lot of fabric, sewing equipment, accessories and other project items. Note: Guys, this is where I get my dress shirt/suit/blazer buttons and fabric for my daughter's last two costumes (Minion and Wonder Woman - check the pics)! Staff: although they have a lot of items, it isn't always easy to find things and the staff is almost never available to help and only a few have been friendly. I don't like to leave a review that is down on the staff, but I hope management takes notice and provides the proper staffing, so that the staff aren't overwhelmed. Overall: I certainly recommend Jo-Ann's for your fabric/sewing needs, just be prepared to help yourself and spend some time, as lines for fabric cutting and checkout lines are often long. I am extremely pleased with the superior customer service I received from the manager of the Coral Springs yesterday. I had purchased 14 yards of fabric online recently, both at a 50% off price, plus an additional 10% off with an online coupon. I soon realized that I had miscalculated and only needed 11 yards. When I called customer service about it, it was too late to change the order. When the order came in I took it to the store and explained it to the manager. Although not policy, he refunded me for the total order, and allowed me to purchase the 11 yards with both discounts, even though the coupon was no longer available. The only thing that could have improved this experience would have been if I was greeted with a smile. No one on the staff ever smiles in this store. read more

Joanns is right down the street from me so I seem to gravitate that way several times a week. I love all the floor people- they are so helpful and kind but I am smitten about the new security guard that followed me throughout the store last week. Granted I am a clay sculptor/ doll maker and gardener and am always a mess. I was insulted plus I am friendly but not personal with the staff, why didn't anyone tell him I float around the store getting ideas and findings? Beads here, felt there, clay there, paint there, mica way over there. Sometimes I need a big cart! I'm still too hot to get material for my LR drapes. I think hurt is a better word. I thought they thought better of me than a common shoplifter. Hobby Lobby and Michael's are a jaunt but they welcome me. Maybe I am "old school" and just expecting more. read more

When I arrived at store the item wasn't there, and it cost $9 shipping to get it from another store or online. In no way did they try to accommodate me. This review will be short, but inclusive of what this store is about. Joann's is my new go to place for arts and craft/fabric needs. The customer service is pretty good when you can find an associate which may be a little difficult at time. You will always find an associate at the fabric cutting counter, but they are usually busy. My reason i like this store is usually any day of the week you can find a coupon on retail me not for at least 40% off or more. The coupons may be found at retailmenot.com and click the Joann's section. The coupons are good unless an item is already marked down or on clearance. I can't believe how a manager acts to their employees in front of customers. Like it's a chore to help an employee. I needed fabric cut for me and the price online was different then what it's ringing up. The lady was very nice and said she would get a manager. The worst store of any kind I have ever been in! There are literally two employees there any day of the week and both of them work so slow it may as well be in reverse. I went in for a simple return, anyplace else literally in the country would have taken 10 minutes. This process took 45 minutes and involved three people! Worst customer service ever for the second and last time. Asked if they had an item, employee said "yeah, it's back there". Stood in front of a cashier and her trainee while they checked the trainee's phone, never acknowledged. Started ringing me up. Informed me of my total, did not apply coupon, missed an item and had to start again. This was not the trainee. Asked to speak to a manager. Some lady came up, I asked if she was the manager. Her response "I could be". Told her of the service I received AND SHE JUST LOOKED AT ME! NO RESPONSE, NO "I AM SORRY". NOTHING! I asked her if she thought that what I experienced was acceptable, if an apology was due? She said in the most sarcastic tone ever "sorry". I used to come to this location often because of the variety of fabrics they have available, however the staff is SO RUDE!!! Every time I go to the fabric section they all look so miserable!!! They work slow and with lots of attitude so it's no wonder there's always long lines. The last time I went I waited so long that my 4 month old baby started crying. I had to bring him out and nurse him while in line so I wouldn't lose my place. The employee gave me dirty looks and started mumbling some things. I asked another employee what the problem was and she said that I probably "shouldn't do that here" (referring to feeding my baby). Well if I didn't have to wait so damn long for you all to do your job I wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. Horrible attitude and rude employees who are not helpful at all!!! Don't bother asking them for help, they get pretty upset if you have any questions. I asked for another type of fabric and she left to go check. I came in to use the great 60% off coupon I saw on the website. I noticed that the item I went to purchase was in a 50% section with no products only prices listed. I pick up two plus another product to use my coupon on. When I got to the register, they rang up at full price. I remarked to the cashier, Lori,"Oh, those aren't on sale." I didn't ask her override the pricing to match the deceptive signage or even to check the sign because I had a coupon so it wasn't a big deal. Immediately, I'm met with attitude and she barks at me that it's not on sale and to pull up the coupon on my smart phone. I'm mildly put off by this but I hand her my PRINTED coupon and I'll just use my other coupons on a separate transaction. She then scans it and barks at me again to pull up another coupon on my phone for the other items. I tell her that I printed it from the website so it's going to be the same number but she argues with me that they're different numbers. The service in the building is awful so my phone was taking a while to pull up the site, to which she remarks derisively treat it's Joann.com. Obviously I know why the site is, that's where I found the coupon. I have my boyfriend who's standing close by to pull it up on his phone. Of course, the coupon he pulls up doesn't work as it's the SAME coupon that I printed earlier. The lady behind me offers her coupon and is promptly told that she can't do that and use her coupon in her transaction afterward. I decline the coupon so she can use it. Lori was so incredibly rude, I'm horrified that Joann has such an unprofessional individual working in customer service. Will not shop here again. read more
