If you do lose your fish from them, you need to be testing YOUR water parameters (INCLUDING AMMONIA). I will continue to go to them for all of my aquarium needs. I have a 10 gallon established tank and a 30 gallon newly established. The owner, Jim, and his employees are wonderful and WILL help you with your fish tanks to determine what is going on in your aquarium IF you do have any issues with fish purchased. If I could rate them more than 5 stars I absolutely would.

Although the people was still nice, the process of me adopting my second kitten wasn't as smooth and detailed as it used to be. I guess maybe they're understaffed or don't have much budget. I hope they get their stuffs together though because I always recommend people to adopt pets from here!

We happened to come across a kitten we were interested in that was being fostered by the Friends of…read moreParkville Animal Shelter. We were initially a bit daunted by the pre-adoption application which has several open-ended questions to fill out; much more involved than any other shelter I'd adopted from. We applied on a Thursday and received an email Friday informing us our pre-adoption was approved. Since there was an adoption event on Saturday we were able to pick up our new furry friend the next day - meaning that from application to pick up was less than 48 hours. Our experience at the shelter, where the cats are housed in their own separate house on the grounds, was fantastic. The volunteers were insanely kind to our family and let us meet the animal, take photos with him, and then we did a short informational session with volunteers. Our cat's foster mom was there and kindly told us about our new friend and sent us home with an entire grocery bag of treats and toys. One note is that there is a two week trial period where your adoption isn't finalized until that point, at which point your pet's medical records will be released. Not a bad thing, but different than other shelters I've worked with so I wanted to call it out. Overall if I were telling a friend about my experience I'd say that it's more involved and more intense than other adoption experiences I've had, but worthwhile and still incredibly efficient.
