Halo-Halo Filipino Food - Delish Pork BBQ Plate

What a real hidden gem of delicious food in El Paso! This is a cafeteria-style restaurant that is…read moredo popular among Filipino locals. I know very little about Filipino food so i did a little bit of research to identify the best combo. Their Pancit noodles and Kare-kare (peanut stew) was most satisfying. Their BBQ Pork is also unbelievably tasty. They offer a rotating menu that keeps things exciting with different daily options. I have to say that Kare-kare was really, really delicious! The service is super friendly where you can experience Filipino kindness and joie de vivre. The young man who served me could clearly see that i had no clue. He gave me several small taste of pork; just for me to enjoy! What a kind gesture! The ambiance is low-key with no frills and simple table setting. If you want to experience some authentic flavors, combined to very generous portions, and a super friendly staff Halo-Halo is definitely a great place to visit!

An honest review from a long time customer here. I've been going to this place since they first…read moreopened--when food quality, price and service was amazing, unfortunately that has drastically changed the past few months. The food quality has gone down but here is my biggest gripe--the price/value. For the past few times I've been here--I got the Lechon Kawali plate, and I consistently get maybe 4-5 small/medium pieces of pork belly, how can you charged people $14 for this? Then yesterday, I got the grilled pork belly plate and all I got was 1 thin sliced of pork belly, seriously? I was extremely disappointed and probably won't be back here anymore.I also ordered Chicharon Bulaklak, 4 pieces for $8? It's just not worth it anymore--I mean look at the cake prices, $29 for a roll of Brazo De Mercedes--it's insane. I understand things are getting expensive but there is a line when it becomes stupid and dumb. I do not recommend anymore. They have forgotten their loyal customers--the very same people that made them successful. I know many people can probably agree with me but just don't have the time to say it like it is, well I'm saying it like it is!

This is my favorite ethnic market in El Paso. It's our mini HMart. I am pretty sure it is Korean…read moreowned, but it does also stock a good selection of other assorted Asian ingredients, too. A very good selection for the size of the store. They have limited produce and side dishes, but they are excellent quality. The refrigerated cases and the two large frozen sections are excellent. They also sell a good variety of base ingredients, oils, vinegars, soy sauces, jangs, spices, seasoning mixes and condiments. And a whole aisle of instant ramen and other instant noodles! Heavy on Korean options, but they also have some Japanese, Indonesian and other offerings. There are tea and snack sections too. And a good rice selection - multiple varieties of Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and more. Service is always quick and efficient. The store is very clean and I feel confident and safe buying my food there.

They also offer Korean beauty care products. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the store is super well-organized. I come from New York City with a giant china town and I would say Airang definitely helps fill that void in El Paso and guys the japchae is super good!

The vegetables from sinigang was cabbage which is normally used for nilaga. The bbq was not bad. The portions of every meal doesn't justify the price. I think the turon was the highlight of our meal. It wasn't too sweet at all. Perfectly glazed with brown sugar. I give them props for making it fresh. We wanted to support our kababayans so we did. The service could be better if the lady would be more approachable. The only friendly staff there was there 2 year old kid. She was waving to everyone. It was hard to see the cleanliness of the truck but on one of the picture the cooking oil was visible from the outside. Running a food truck is hard but I'm hoping that next time we visit, they would improve their service and their quality of food. Still worth giving them a chance for our next visit.

I ordered the pancit and I was shocked to find it bland with no green onion, white onion, garlic, etc. only small pieces of cabbage and 3 slivers of carrots. The lumpia was the size of a pencil but the beef stick was the only thing that was good. Next time, I'll pass and look at another food truck.

You can choose between chicken, beef and pork for protein. You can choose rice or pancit for starch. Some lunch plates come with two lumpia, but you can special order them if you want. Service is very friendly. I went there at the end of lunch hours, so it wasn't crowded. There was no wait, and I must've received my food within five minutes after I placed my order. Now, the food. It was alright. It lacked wow factor for me, but it tasted just fine. My pork was a little tough and dry, but had some decent flavor. Pancit tasted just fine. I prefer to have had some more vegetables in it, but there was plenty of rice noodles and satisfied my hunger. Lumpia was definitely overcooked. It wasn't burned, but it was very close to it. I think Lumpia Express offers very good alternatives to regular hamburgers and pizzas. After all, it's all about supporting a local business, isn't it??

The Lumpia is some sort of flavor that doesn't resemble any of the lumpia I've eaten and I'm 100% filipina and lived in the philippines for 12 years. They sell bulgogi... It just seems like a fusion place rather than a filipino food truck.
