From the beginning, I trusted that I was purchasing a home that had been honestly represented. Unfortunately, after moving in, we began discovering issue after issue that we believe should have been disclosed before the sale. Within a short period of ownership, we experienced significant water intrusion in the basement on multiple occasions, leading to expensive repairs and major stress for our family. As we continued investigating the property, we found additional concerns involving plumbing, HVAC installation, and other workmanship that left us questioning the quality of the renovations that had been completed before the sale. Instead of enjoying our new home, we have spent our time and money dealing with problems we never expected to inherit. What has been even more frustrating is the lack of communication and accountability after these issues were brought to their attention. As a homeowner making one of the biggest financial investments of my life, I expected transparency, professionalism, and a willingness to address legitimate concerns. That was not my experience. I encourage anyone considering purchasing a home to do extensive due diligence, hire thorough inspectors, and ask detailed questions about the property's history, renovations, drainage, and any prior water issues. We first used this place back in 2021, while still living in Naperville Illinois. The agent at the time Kathy Schroeder was personable and our home was sold rather quickly. Yet, this is where the problems started. An agreed to time to move out which was the usual 30 days. Ok, well the new owners needed to move in two weeks sooner. Mccolly INSISTED we abide by this as we were looking for homes in Indiana already. We went through the Schererville office and found a home in an area. The location of our home was behind a corn field and a supposed flood plain. The realtor, Mary Embry with Mccolly and our realtor stated that no one is allowed too behind us. Late in 2020 the property was sold. Talking to neighbors and the Town of Schererville everyone knew of the sale. Red flag # 2. Then I had the pleasure of speaking with the seller after the sale and I inquired regarding the property. He related the Mccolly advised him not to say anything so that the home could be sold! Red flag #3! Now we are looking for purchasing another home since our family has downsized. Going through Mccolly again! Why? I guess I did not learn. Totally understand about being outbid on homes. I get it. Where the problem begins again, our realtor found us a home in Crown Point with another Mccolly agency, Michael Borowiec. This guy had a prospective home on the market for 9 months. We looked at the house. Liked it, bid on it, looked at it again, and he withheld information that the owners were never interested. Red flag# 4. Next we moved on and our agent found another home we liked. We signed the papers with our bid amount. Everything was accepted. Closing set up; home inspection set up. Then apparently the Mccolly Agent Alan Harrell represented the sellers, stated they want to back out of the contract. Our realtor sales lady said we needed to follow that with no specific reason. Overall, Mccolly Real Estate cannot be trusted. We have heard nothing but lies, misleading information and have a habit of NOT disclosing information to buyers! A DEFINITE firm to avoid. If I could give zero stars I would. Maybe Mccolly should have their license revoked in Indiana!

I was told my lease was up at the end of march when I asked about my money and I stated that technically that's a 13month lease not a 12 month lease and Cindy was the one that looked at my lease and told me my renewal information and everything then later tried to lie and say we never spoke about my notice and stated the property doesn't keep track of when tenants leases are up. Good price listings for the area. Bad job at communicating with sellers/contractors before…read moreclosing. Long story short, they closed on a home without telling the contractor it was closing. There were thousands of dollars in tools left in the garage. Then the realtor called me a week later saying they gave the contractor my number so he could meet up to pick up his tools "because he left them there on accident". First off, legally the tools belonged to me after closing so the correct thing to do would be to ask me if that would be alright instead of assuming they could just give my number to the contractor. Secondly, it was an obvious lie! No contractor accidentally leaves all of his expensive tools in a home if he knew it was closing. Luckily for Rossi and Taylor, I had packed up all of the gentleman's things and returned them to him because he didn't deserve for you all to do that to him. I should have held Rossi and Taylor liable for reimbursing the contractor, but I'm a busy guy and I knew the contractor probably was too.
