I stayed at this beautiful B&B for a 4 day yoga training and was so pleased that I did! It's best feature is a private lake and quiet setting. It was too chilly to play in the water but you have the options of swimming, paddle boards, and kayaks. There is also fishing and a walking path around the lake! I stayed in the "Sun" Suite (the rooms are named after elements). My room was in a walkout basement with lots of light and great views of the water. It also has a kitchen, private bathroom with shower, comfy sleeper sofa, and separate bedroom. The breakfasts were filling, varied each day, and well prepared. Food sensitivities can be accommodated if needed also. My favorite is the Amish Casserole! Yummy! It's only 30 minutes from Columbia and near to wineries but I found little reason to leave the property, except for dinner and the occasional grocery store trip (of which they have a pretty nice one for a town so small). I enjoyed it so much I am hoping to take my husband some time and maybe some of my girlfriends for a yoga retreat!

Visited for high tea recently and everything was as expected and much more. We somehow got mixed up on the time but now worries. The Innkeeper didn't miss a beat and was accommodating and welcoming. The starter was a delightful strawberry soup which was so refreshing. The tea sandwiches we equally delicious. The scone with clotted cream and lemon curd where the best I have had recently. Now let's talk about the cakes. I think the peanut butter bar topped with chocolate was my favorite. A very large chocolate covered strawberry provided the fruit we loved. The macrons were delicate and just melted in my mouth. To wrap this up, we had a memorable afternoon and would definitely do it again I hope you will give it a try.

Ken and Linda are the perfect hosts and run the inn with great attention to detail, making you feel like family from the moment you enter. We chose to stay in Booneville for a quick get away from the Kansas City area. If you combine it with a trip over to the Arrow Rock Lyceum theater, you've got a perfect little 24 hour trip. The inn is beautiful with four Victorian rooms to choose from and another three French inspired rooms a few doors down. All the rooms have private bathrooms, coffee service, gorgeous furnishings, access to their beautiful gardens, and an incredible breakfast, made by Linda. The Grand Victorian Manor is a true bed & breakfast experience with great amenities, food, service, and hospitality.

This place has turned me into a B&B fan…read more The owners were friendly but not intrusive, and willing to help however they could. I'm not a big dog person, but I really enjoyed their little dog Logan who couldn't be more friendly while still not licking or jumping on you. We stayed in the Garden Room. While the fact that it is in the basement might turn off some people, I thing the positives outweigh the negative. By being in the basement, you've got 2 floors between you and the other guests plus your own private entrance...so it felt more private than the other rooms. I liked that I didn't have to worry about having the TV too loud when we were watching a movie at night. The room was the only one with 2 comfy chairs (recliners) facing the TV. Plus it had a king size bed, gas fireplace, small table and the biggest bathroom in the place. I was temped to use the whirlpool tub, but didn't. The shower was nice though. Much nicer than the shower from the hotel the night before in KC. They have a lot of movies to watch from your room,,, though they tended to lean toward romance and movies more than a few years old. Breakfast on Sunday was served at 9. It was good but on the light side. Our first course of a cheese souffle (muffin size) with 3 sausage links (not my favorite) and the 2nd course was fresh fruit with whipped topping and a drizzle of chocolate (yum). Hearty eaters might leave a little hungry. The coffee was good. They had this fancy machine that made individual cups of coffee or tea with a number of flavor choices. They had a machine in the dining room and in every room. Oh...and the location is good. You can easily walk to downtown, even in winter, and to the Churchill Museum. If you are looking to get out of town from St. Louis or KC for a night, I would definitely recommend the Loganberry Inn. They do gift certificates...perfect for a romantic gift. Hint hint.

Because I'm four years old at heart, we had to stay in the boxcar on our recent Katy Trail bike ride. Location wise? Perfection. You can see the trail, you're right next to the best stop along the trail (Meriwether Cafe & Bike Shop), and right by the famous Rocheport tunnel. It's wonderful. The outside is cool too because there's a hammock and a small porch, but inside is really cool as well. Old wood floors, two loft beds and a standard queen bed. Water is potable, there's a bathroom and a shower and it's what you need. The A/C runs nice and cold and that was perfect for us on our return trip over the 4th of July. The other thing of note is that bikes aren't allowed inside, and they offer a little shed for them. Traveling by bike means that it's the most important piece of our trip and while Rocheport is a super calm, idyllic, safe place, it's still hard to just trust leaving our bikes in a shed... or at least for me to shake my city mindset of leaving a bike out. *UPDATE* We re-booked this to come as a family and it was a stellar experience. The A/C worked so well on a hot day, the hammock was relaxing and we had fireworks going off nearby. We left our bikes out, including our bike trailer and everything was fine. Love this unique spot right on the Katy, and highly recommend booking it and relaxing with the easy-going flow in Rocheport.

Great shared kitchen and living space; laundry available. Make your own breakfast if you want more than a continental-type set, though. Two adjoining rooms on ground floor could use better sound insulation b/w (seal up the old doorway!). Big yard with hammock, patio, etc., to enjoy. Easy walk to shops and places to eat. We really liked this place on our long bike ride on the Katy!
