i had the same issue as everyone else . asked for a quote - told him to stop by anytime and he can see the tree as i work all day . gives me a price - we come to a deal of cutting tree down and cutting up wood to firewood length sections that i would split later and to leave the branches an i would do clean up. said he was going to try and do last week - i told him i would be home - then he cancels - no big deal and said the following week. they he said he stopped by and said it would cost another 300 to cut the tree down . after having a written estimate - he said he undercharged after looking at it already. i declined him to do anything - i can rent a lift for 500 and cut it down myself. i would suggest you steer clear of him as he does not hold true to his estimates. he is alittle less but not worth the lack of professionalism. there are alot of tree companies out there that are reputable. read more

Quoted $400 for a large Pine Tree. They came out when they said they would. Communication was through texting and email and was good. You wont be able to beat their prices that's for sure. They use ropes and climbing, so that was important as we didn't want our lawn torn up. They cleaned up the lawn and blew away all the debris as well. Would use again if needed. John quoted me a price to grind stumps and remove everything overhanging the house. A few days prior to his arrival I contacted him and told him I didn't want any commercial sized stumps grinder being towed behind a truck to get to my stumps because they would have to drive a truck up my lawn, tearing it up in the process. I requested that he bring a smaller standard sized walk behind grinder to which he stated that wouldn't be a problem. Upon arrival on the day of the job he immediately said that because the hand unit is more time consuming for him he requested an extra $50.00 to which I replied that I wouldn't be paying him more money and if he can't do the job then I'll get someone who can. Reluctantly, he elected to proceed with the job. Then while he was up in a giant tree in my front yard I requested that he drop a branch that was overhanging the house to which he said (from waaaay up in the tree) that it would be an extra $35.00 to drop the branch. Again I told him that I'm not paying him more money than what we agreed upon. He then said that he's not dropping the branch and proceeds to cut off the smaller limbs that were going toward the house in a haphazard way that had them falling into my landscaping. He was obviously pissed because he tried to squeeze me for more cash twice throughout the job and I wasn't budging from the agreement. Keep in mind that this company doesn't come equipped to handle real work. No bucket truck for ANYTHING. John literally climbs into every tree, which takes the better part of an hour + if you have real work. They also don't use a mulcher for the branches. They just chop up everything and put it on the back of a super small trailer. The trailer is something akin to a trailer you would haul a jet ski on. You will MOST DEFINITELY get squeezed for more money as the job progresses. He also subs out his stump grinding work because when I initially discussed having a hand driven grinder brought out as opposed to a commercial one, he said he will "reach out to the stump grinding guy". The people who showed up also left a great deal of stump that I'm discovering now that I'm getting rid of the wood chips. In conclusion, this business is not equipped to handle tree work. They don't have their own equipment, to include bucket trucks and grinders. John will literally climb your trees and cut down branches but also try to price haggle you throughout the job. I will NOT be recommending this business to anyone or use them again. read more

Communication was great and services were completed quickly. I had a tree removed from the front of my house, they did the job while I was at work. I came home to a beautiful front yard stump gone and everything. They even cut and left me firewood which was nicely stacked along my fence. Coudnt be happier! First of all, the communication was absolutely horrible! I was quoted $325 over the phone with pictures. When he got to my house he said "this is a $400 job." I told him to get all of the branches hanging over my house. He didn't do that at all. He cut one long branch and said if I wanted the other branch cut that would be another $100, after he said that he told me that he would cut up the branches, but to hall them away that would cost another $150. He brought one saw with him and two guys. The equipment you see in the pictures, he didn't bring any of that with him. He was nothing but money hungry. Oh, and he left a huge mess on top of the roof. Luckily, there was a guy up on my neighbors roof that could clean up John's mess. I would not recommend him to anyone ever! From communication down to cleanup- don't call John Maloney! read more

Dont hire them. Jj Treetops subcontracts all work. They arrived with 4 guys and a small utility trailer. They were suppose to clean excess debris however they left 95 % at the curb expecting the township to clean it up. I had to pay someone else 700 to get rid of it. Some of the pieces left were over 150lbs. When the other contractor came to clean up the stump grinding he charged me 200 vs 175 that john quoted. In addition they destroyed my lawn and cracked my concrete. I called him but he didn't respond. Word to the wise. If a company doesn't have their own equipment or employees dont hire them read more
