Extremely upset and dissatisfied. I went in for the permanent straightning treatment. I went 2 days earlier, the man which i think is the owner looked at my hair & said $120 I went to do it on a saturday, Number one - none of them speak much english so you cant even communicate with them Number 2- they said it will dry my hair out more im like ok thats fine as long as it doesnt burn off Little did i know they were about to fry the living shit out of my hair . It became elasticy and would stretch and snap off when you brushed it wet and the lady was literally breaking all my hair brushing it aggressively with a blowdryer while wet and damaged My hair is fried. I washed it 3 days later (as advised).. not only is my hair not straight at ALL Its 5 times worse than i started with , and COMPLETELY FRIED. I cant even run my hands through it , Its like you lit a lighter underneath my hair. Its ALLLL FRIED all curly .. u i dont know whether to cry or kill myself like what did they do to my hair. my first time here and very upset with the outcome of hair . i showed her what colour / highlight I want but she didn't follow what I showed her . i wanted for hair colour with highlight , hair treatment and hair cut. but she only did hair highlight , treatment and hair cut . the hair treatment didn't come out great as well, as it was still not soft . will never go there !! read more

This place is the best hair salon I've ever been too. First of all, the workers are extremely friendly except the owner (he's kinda mean). Although they speak very little English they are still friendly and get the job done. So the workers are nice and patient. Second of all, there work is very professional and good. I ironed my hair and cut it and it turned out very good and got tons of compliments not just by my friends but other ppl too. The prices are also amazing for there work. A haircut was only $15. $30 to iron hair. Very good price overall and worth what they do. P.S. if u cut ur hair ironing is free. My only complaint is the rudeness of the owner and how long it takes to wait. The owner is the worst out of all of them and if u can avoid him or just ignore him ur pretty good to go. Also it takes like 30 mins on a busy day which is mostly everyday to get ur hair done. If u go on Sunday after 6:00 it's pretty nice and quite and not many ppl are there. dont ever ever come to this hair salon.if you dont want to ruin or damage your beautiful hair dont ever ever come here. they are very unprofessional , irresponsible and they ruined/damaged my long hair. supposed to be im having only bangs haircut but then the lady sales talk me regarding hair hot oil treatment and straightening she said i will make your hair beautiful etc. obviously i said yes because i trusted her and my friend recommended it. after the treatment the edge of my hair became so dry , kinky and damaged. that why i had to go to different hair salon to cut my hair to very short haircut. then i thought its only normal then i didnt washed it for 3days. but right after i washed it and dry i started to have hair fall continuously until now. i have a lot of small hair or should i say baby hair from the hair fall. i went straight to the hair specialist and they told me that they ruined my hair and i need treatment and it will cost me like almost 2k. i was so frustrated, upset , devastated and depress because of hair . i called the salon regarding with the situation and told me to come to their salon i went there the next morning and explained and showed to them what happened to my hair but they didnt even give a shit at all. the guy whos in the cashier was so very unprofessional and rude all of things i said to them and crying infront of them/him he didnt even say sorry and said to me " do whatever you want" like seriously? i went there to talk to them nice and properly and i was asking for compensation or what they gonna do for my hair that i need almost 2k for the treatment but they didnt give a shit at all. very unprofessional and irresponsible..i regret coming into this salon. if there is "0" to this i will give them a negative reviews!!!!!!! read more

I needed a trim and some desperate hair intervention. I got a trim, hot oil treatment, and straightening for $30! That's so awesome. No lineup, just walk in. It's also very affordable + the staff are friendly if you're polite. You probably won't have the usual hairstylist-client conversations but not because they're not mean or unfriendly, there's just a definite language barrier. Nevertheless, the hair stylist heeded to exactly how much I wanted cut off!!! The only thing is it doesn't seem the most sanitary. I looked around and saw a lot of dusty, unwashed looking areas. My wife moved to this salon from a more expensive one where there is "great service" and "ambience". Quality of the cut? Pretty much at par with the more expensive one! Ms Li cuts her hair and the layering looks awesome. For the price and the quality of the cut, five stars. Well, as for the cleanliness and service, it is not part of their charge so you don't pay for it and so you don't get it. :) Well, from experience they do serve people well - especially those who are polite and respectful to them. The hairdressers there are very friendly. No reservations. Just walk in and Charleson (or at least this is what his name sounds like) does the queuing and helps decide who goes next. To be honest, this really isn't a yelpable place. This dinky little Korean hair salon at the corner of the many plazas in the area is utterly unnoticeable and not meant for people who come here expecting normal western standard service. When you walk in, you will notice a large number of women sitting around the waiting the room. The first seat is always occupied by the bossman, who looks mighty mean but is actually super nice. He cuts mostly hair for men, sometimes does stuff for women, and his main job is to ask customers what they need done, how much it would be if they ask, and direct the people in the seats when and where to go when a hairdresser is ready for them. And no, all the hairdressers in there do not speak English very well. They can barely talk about your hair with you in fact. They know words like, "layers" "yes" "no" "highlight" and "colour". If you want anything specific and needs to be explained, then you're screwed. Best if you bring a picture. Why this place is awesome? first off it is CHEAP. $50 for color and haircut included...you cannot beat that. Secondly, the hairdressers in there are AWESOME. They are friendly, great with your hair (trust them and you will get good results), and really meticulous with your colour, cut, and style. But be prepared to wait. No appointment is needed (I don't even know if they take appointment). You can literally be waiting up to an hour or two on their busy days. Is it worth the wait? My five stars is saying yes. I'm exposing here Toronto's best kept secret, I hope this will not make my wait time longer! CASH ONLY, but there's an ATM in the store. Parking in the back too. read more

You're only paying $25 for a hair cut, $30 for haircut with hot oil, and nothing over the top. You are paying really cheap for service that can cost a lot more. If I could give zero stars I would. Warning: do not get the straightening treatment done. The stylist was in experienced putting the treatment too close to the scalp and too long under the heat causing my hair to break off. I am now suffering from extreme hair loss. I've been coming here for a while. It's a basic place and they don't speak much English, but they understand the basics. Cut and style used to be $25. Now it's $35. For the value, it's great. The owner is uptight and rude, but everyone else is ok. They give you your tenth cut for free, but the owner always gives some attitude, as if you're forcing him to give you the free cut. Today when redeeming my free cut, he pointed to a paper taped on the glass that shampoo and service is extra $5. I hadn't gotten a shampoo and I pointed it out but he was just mumbling in Korean and pointing to the sign. A lady that worked there said it's for service. I said then the free cut isn't free anymore? No one answered. I paid and the owner said some more Korean words. I said "sorry?" He said " It's ok. Don't worry about it." I dislike his behavior very much. Don't offer a free cut if it annoys you so much, and don't charge a made up service fee because you're upset someone is redeaming their promised free cut. Overall I give 4 stars because I there's no half stars to make it 3.5 and as long as you don't deal with the owner, the service is good. read more

Ok, so I love this place, not only because it's so cheap and their work is amazing, but also because all of the hairstylists are so kind. I understand that there would be a language barrier for others who aren't Korean, but considering the price and what you get out of it, totally worth it. I got a straight perm for $100 and it lasts forever and looks and feels amazing. Where else could you get a straight perm for $100?! Granted, they gave me a discounted price, but still. They cut hair well for $20.00, but rarely heed to how much you want cut. I asked for just below the boobs length and they cut my hair up to my shoulders (bye mermaid hair ). The hairdressers were also playing around during the cut.. if I cared a little more about my hair, I'd probably get mad over that. My hairdresser was very nice and friendly, however. Ok so the interior isn't straight out of a movie; this place doesn't look like a Yorkville salon. But you aren't paying Yorkville prices either. The service is great. Communication can be a little difficult but they do their best to understand what you want done. I've sent 4 to 5 times elsewhere and did not get the results nearly as good as JJ's. The prices can't be beat. I paid $130 for colour, highlights, cut and styling. The only thing is the wait. They don't take appointments so I needed up waiting about an hour. Out of all the experiences i've had at hair salons, honestly it was the worst. Not only is the facility unsanitary, the service was horrible. I felt rushed to get my haircut and she didn't take her time with my hair. I got a simple trim with layers, and she didn't even see if my hair was even in the end. She styled my hair and was in a rush to be done. I went home and took a shower to see if my hair was even and I was so upset to see the result. I've never seen someone cut my hair to be noticeably uneven, my left hair was shorter than the right. When I went back to get it fixed, not only did I not get an apology, she was really rude about it. Never going back there ever again, i would not recommend it to a friend. (I've been to other Korean hair salons that have similar rates as this one and i've not only been treated better but i got a cut that would be qualified as legitimate.) read more

I only had $120 because the last time I went there, they charged me $120. I told them that I would leave and go back to withdraw my money. But I guess these people didn't understand what I said. So they told me that they'll give it to me for $160. I said that I really don't have enough money and that I will come back. They still tried to convince me. Until it got to the point that I took off my robes and towels and stood up. The hairdresser started to panic and went to the guy owner. They were speaking korean but obviously, they were arguing about me. The owner (guy), is really good at pricing. He was the one who charged me for only 120 before. I know that he's nice and that he tells his hairdressers to lower their charge whenever someone is trying to haggle. After the arguements, I was about to leave but then she told me that she'll give it to me for $130. So I sat back again, but this time, she was obviously pissed coz she wanted to charge me for 170. You see, the thing is, most of the percent of your pay goes to them. Which is why they charge you expensively because they keep a percent of it. When she started doing my hair, she was treating me harshly. She started pulling my hair and combing my hair hard. She was gossiping about me in korean and laughing with all her other co workers. You see, this is the thing with this salon. They are fucking rude. They talk shit in front of you coz they know that you don't understand what they say. I come here every 6 mos for treatments because obviously, their price is cheap, the reuslt is good, but you get insulted. After that, she let the chemicals stay in my hair for 2 hrs. I know it's wrong because i've been having straight perm for 5 years now. When she was blow drying my hair, she keeps on combing my hair hard and pulling my hair and making shitty comments about my hair. She even told me that my hair would be dry after the treatment because she used a strong chemical. Like??? Who the fuck would say that.. In the end, she passed me to the owner because she doesn't want to straighten my hair. All of her fucking co-workers were laughing at me when she did that. In summation, if you are looking for a cheap treatment and good results, then go to this salon. BUT ONLY DO THAT IF YOU CAN HANDLE BEING TREATED LIKE SHIT AND HAVING A HAIRDRESSER WHO PULLS YOUR HAIR AND TALKS SHIT ABOUT YOU IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE. Also, if you go to this salon, try to haggle because they do charge you a lot if they see that you can pay such amount. They will also convince you to give tip. I paid 140 when I was only supposed to pay 130. I was waiting for my change but they did not give it to me because they though it was a tip.
