Had a rough start, but, in the end they came through like champs!!! Went in for a middle pew. When I say middle I mean I have a sub-compact in .380 and a large frame 9mm. I wanted a compact 9mm for CCP as I just felt the PPK/S in .380 I have was insufficient for everyday CCP. Salesman did take me too literally when showing me alternates by only showing me what I specifically asked for! He did his job. However what I wanted and what was available are 2 different things and it took some time but we finally moved on to some other pieces that were just a tad different than my original request. Got home and realized that the store was offering a "package" (free range case and 2 extra mags). I called them up, and without thinking twice they offered me the same deal that was on the website. Salesman "Seth" was apologetic however I told him there was no wrongdoing by either side. I just noticed a deal after the sale and they honored it. I never shop big box for my pews because of the fact most do not honor the Brady Bill. Locally owned shops will forever get my business!! This was my first transaction with Jim's and I can promise it won't be the last!! Thank You to Seth and the rest of the team down at Jim's. The selection and prices are unbeatable. I challenge you to "not" be able to find what you're looking for at a reasonable price!! read more

Came is with an issue getting a firing pin out of an old shotgun bolt. Gunsmith popped it quick. Friendly guy and didn't even charge me. These guys are my usual go to for gunsmithing. They also have a nice selection of parts and accessories for a decent price. read more

Moving from Los Angeles where you're almost a criminal for owning a firearm even if it's legal, when you get a nice amount of money the first thing you do is purchase a gun or two!! Upon walking into Jim's we were greeted professionally and assisted in choosing firearms for home protection. We settled on a Gen 4 Glock 21 .45 caliber and a gorgeous Benelli Nova shotgun. Prices are a little marked up but that's understandable considering Louisiana is a very desolate place and everyone's got to make their money especially as we got armed during this insane PLANdemic where everyone is seemingly buying up all of the guns and ammunition that they possibly can. We were also given free shirts with purchase and gifted a couple of extra goodies on the side. Absolutely recommend giving Jim's your business if you're looking for no frills, quality service. read more

As other reviewers have mentioned, Jim's has an excellent collection of guns and accessories; perhaps one of the best in the area. And when I've gone in their people have generally been good to deal with. But their prices are generally MSRP or a bit higher, and one can easily find brick-and-mortar stores in the area that will do better on price ... not to mention the deluge of online vendors that will almost always do better. Jim's could easily be a five-star spot. Let's hope they choose to be! read more

Went in this afternoon . Was shopping for a firearm . The manager said I'll be right back . Walked outside and when he returned never acknowledged me . I was holding the gun I was supposed to but . I finally said what the f? He was like well I'm sorry . I will never step foot in that place again . Hebert's gun will get my next purchase . Shit hole!! read more

Jim's is paradise for gun lovers. Sure Jim's sells vaults, clothing, cleaning kits, holsters and a ton other gun related items. But what makes Jim's special is the sheer quantity of firearms they have in stock. Jim's has a huge variety of guns. I'm not talking about your run of the mill Glock or Springfield XD. Sure they have those, but they also have the largest amount of 1911 style guns that I have ever seen in one place. There were every type of 1911 from entry level to $4000 custom pistols. It was truly amazing. Want to look like bullet tooth Tony from the movie Snatch? Jim's had several Desert Eagles in stock. Want to have a gun in case of bear attack? Jim's had both the .460 Magnum and .500 Magnum S&W revolvers. The staff at Jim's was very friendly and helpful on both of my recent visits. On my most recent visit I was fortunate enough to have a ling discussion about the different types of 1911 extractors. I loved every minute of it. Making the experience even better is that Jim's has very fair prices. I found them to be cheaper than the big box national stores, plus they had several very reasonable consignment guns. If you are in the market for a new gun, check out Jim's. If you need someone to go with you, let me know. read more

Overpriced. My husband has come here a good bit for ammo or gun parts. They charge way too much. And it's difficult to get someone to help you. We were talking to one guy and he just turned around and started talking to someone else. We did take our concealed carry class here, and it was good. But other than that, it's cheaper to shop elsewhere. read more

Had not been in the store since they moved. This time came to register for the CCW class, they were very friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. When I was just looking around several sales staff asked if I needed help, when I did need assistance the salesman was quick and knowledgeable. I always try to shop local and this is a first stop. read more

Amazing service. I came in last night looking for a new handgun and was blow away by not only the selection but also by the customer service. Nathan Drumm, sales associate that helped me, was wonderful! He made me feel completely at ease with my purchase. I will be coming back here for my gun/ammo needs. read more

Josh was very helpful and answered all my questions.. prices were comparable to other companies.

This is good business, has great prices and there sales team is super. The guns they have fantastic. I enjoy going there. Good people.

Great firearms dealer...great selection of items an firearms afficionado would want to own and if they don't have what your looking for they will be more than happy to help with acquiring it...The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable ...they will go the extra mile to get you the answers you are looking for... If you need a Suppressor Ross and Brian are extremely knowledgeable to answer all your questions....For your gunsmithing needs Devin, Nick and Johnathan are more than capable of handling your requests...I personally have had numerous interactions with these staff members and can't say I have had any better experiences than what I have here at Jim's...Bill is an excellent manager that has taken time out of his busy day to make sure my questions have been answered and my requests fulfilled... I visit this establishment at least two times a week and have yet to have an unsatisfactory visit...I highly recommend giving them a visit for your firearm needs.. read more

I don't know shit about guns. Like literally nothing. I know my guy carries one and I know I'd like to learn to shoot one under his guidance. Other than that? Nothing. Of course I ended up here because of him. It's a gun store. It's a bunch of dudes talking about guns. There are no pretty things to look at here and as girly as that sounds I don't even care. This review is for the ladies. I tried looking for something interesting and only found targets (yikes), camo everything, enormous gun safes, dead animals and again...guns. It's definitely testosterone central. If you do find yourself here ladies, take a look at the massive fan above your head. It's truly incredible. And the most fun I had here. read more

Worst gun exp ever... I was highly over priced for an fn 5.7. And I knowing complied bc of what I thought was great customer service. This particular gun I chose to purchase using their layaway plan! I had an emergency arise and needed to cancel my layaway and called in ahead to confirm I could and they told me I could. When i arrived at the store all hall broke loose. They lied to my face about policies and changed them all together regardless of their written policy agreement all together. They lied and changed my acct info, layaway balance and all, and it wasn't the sales ppl it was Jim himself calling shots and wouldn't even leave his office to speak to me.My attorney is currently involved... will never spend a fine w them again regardless to their selection. Bad business... read more

Great visit!!!! Picking up my stuff was a tremendous experience. Mr. Don was very knowledgeable and patient helping me choose what I needed/wanted and very helpful with his recommendations! So were the guys "upstairs" who completed my order in record time. Last but not least Ms. Emily in the front was also knowledgeable, expeditious and super friendly! Can't wait to get more stuff from them! read more

Living some 85+ miles away, Jim's is our best gun-shop in this part of our state. I have used Jim's for fairly minor service, so far, and their service has been excellent. My Son has bought several new firearms here, and loves it. Jim's stocks of firearms, ammo, accessories, & gear are extensive. I just wish that Jim's were closer to my house. Rick read more

just moved to BR from NOLA couple years ago this was my first gun shop i stumbled upon (and haven't been no where else since).... the service is excellent!!! to say it's packed on some days than others i still managed to get help quickly!! i'm an in and out type of guy, don't like being in one place for a long time besides my house lol! i've purchased a couple firearms and plan on getting more thru them.. i also use their website and if the firearm you want is in stock it'll take about a day to a week to arrive...also purchase firearms from other retailers and the transfer process was a breeze!!! if there's grammatical errors oh well i was excited to quickly put this review in read more

I received the worst customer service here. I have never felt so unappreciated as a customer at a place that sells their used guns at new prices and all of there inventory is 30% over MSRP. I personally wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. read more

Horrible. Not enough people working and they didnt care who was waiting first. We have bought several guns from here but never again.

Bought a brand new scope from Jims. The salesman advised me it may not work on the particular gun but it should be fine. It ended up not working out and when I called back to see about partial credit or exchange the manager has absolutely no interest and no desire to be accommodating. Had I been warned there was a no return policy I would've went a different route. Ended up purchasing two shirts that are now in the garbage. It's sad when you try and support small business and shop local and comes back to bite you. I'll never spend another dime at Jims firearms. read more

Just purchased a Smith and Wesson 9mm. Did a layaway plan. Sale of the gun was great. However, when going to pay the balance and having intentions of buying a holster, ammo, and a gun cleaning kit the clientele that was being serviced led me to change my mind. Several individuals literally having their pants well below the buttocks. I have no desire to be surrounded by such individuals. When advising personnel of my concerns I was advised that the employees were advised to keep quiet. Needless to say I purchased my accessories else where. read more

I have been looking for a particular firearm and it seemed like it was like looking for the Holy Grail or Fountain of Youth. Jim's firearms had what I was looking for. Never purchasing a gun online I was skeptical so I researched the company and they were solid! I called the store and talked to the personnel there to ensure that what I was buying was actually in stock and new in the box. I was placed on hold so they could go and put their hands on it instead of relying on computer inventory. They also helped me during the process of ensuring that my FFL's information was correct. After the purchased was verified they put my name, state and order number on the box. So impressed with their customer service! The price for this firearm is inline with what I have seen at one other store but failed to purchase. Give these people a call for any of your firearm needs. read more

I do my best to support local businesses, but will never shop here again. I came in on Sunday and saw a benchmade knife that I liked, but I had reservations about the material in the handle. I was told I could simply return it if I decided I didn't like the feel of the knife. I ultimately decided against the knife because of the sharp edges on the handle, and brought it in for return today. I had not used the knife at all, and was returning it in perfect condition. I was told by another sales rep that that a return would not be possible. He did not give an explanation of why, and actually didn't even apologize. I asked to speak with the manager and he said "no". The knife was only $100, so not the end of the world, but they've now lost me as a customer and the hundreds of dollars I was likely to spend here every year. Poor business practice, and incompetent staff. Too bad. I would not give these people your business when there are other outfits in town that run an honest operation, and respect their customers. read more

Possibly the best shooting sports store I've ever been too across the world. I'm new to the area. These folks were so gracious and accommodating. Needed a gunsmith. Even though their web-site says they do complete restoration work for fire or water damaged guns or refurbishing an old family heirloom and bluing as a few of many services offered that statement is not true. I went in with an older 30-06 that had been in a flood and needed to be re-blued, they refused to provide the service. I even called and talked to them before I went in and they told me to bring it in. The gun is in great shape otherwise. They said it was a liability to work on an older gun. That they break and when they work on them people come back because it doesn't work. So I take it as they are incompetent as a true gunsmith. So I will call a real gunsmith. read more

I don't usually do this but don't shop here. They lie about their policies. Will take my business elsewhere.

I came here to utilize their gunsmith services and I was really impressed with the best selection of pistols I've seen in any store in Louisiana. They also have a great selection of optics on hand along with a very respectable number of rifles. They had a small ammunition section and then a wide selection of all sorts of other firearm and hunting related merchandise. My only negative is I thought the cost for the very minor and easy work I had done to my rifle was a bit excessive for the work involved and another gun store had actually offered to do it for free since it was such a simple job (which I could've done myself if I would've purchased the tool that would've cost exactly what my bill was). Overall I guess it was worth the price of admission to visit such a great gun store with such a great selection. read more

fantastic staff and gunsmiths. excellent selection of firearms although everyone is hit with the frenzy for arms and ammo. loved the help i got with several different needs. gotta love em. and they got a cool new sign they've been needing for a while! read more

Just as good of a selection as anywhere. Dishonest sales tactics. We were lied to by sales staff about refund and exchange on Optics if they didn't work for us. Now every shot we take leaves us a sour taste of our experience with Jim's. It's very easy to find better prices nearby. You don't have to take my word for it , read the other reviews. When it comes to making such an important purchase, take my advice, go somewhere else. You will feel confident that you have made the right choice NOT to shop here. Those that rely on you to keep them safe, will thank you. read more

This is my favorite place to shop for firearms and it's my family's goto for firearm purchases . They have a great selection of handguns, pistols, shotguns and rifles. So whether your looking for a gun for self defense and home defense of your family or a shotgun or rifle for hunting they have many to choose from. They also have a gunsmith and do repairs on firearms. They have ammunition of all kinds they also carry knives and targets and reloading equipment. If you or the man in your life makes their own ammunition they carry all those supply's here also. They have holsters and many accessories for your firearm. They even sell t-shirts but if you buy a gun you get a free t- shirt, I think by now my husband probably has one in every color. Lol read more

I've been to the store twice and initially I purchased a kel tec cp33 .22lr. I was especially excited to purchase this piece. I can't recall the young guy's name who helped me but, he was great. Today I had to visit the store and today I was helped by a gentleman name Brian. The kel tec I purchased had a loading defect that I wasn't aware of. Brian gave me a set of options to rectify the situation and, thanks to him and the owner Jim, I was able to still walk away today a happy and satisfied customer. The customer service and attention to detail at Jim's was great. In this niche area of retail service, you are likely to get salesmen who are former LE or former military and often make new customers feel intimidated. I have been to Jim's 4 times in the past two weeks, and every time they were nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. I also utilized their gun smithing services and the gunsmith(whose name I did not catch) was very helpful and went over the top to fill my needs. read more

DON'T bring your gun here for TRIGGER JOBS. You're better off checking into companies online that make replacement springs that you can replace yourself ($12) in your own kitchen and not have to pay Jim's sub-par gunsmiths the minimum $35 fee to take your gun apart only to tell you they can't do a trigger job but charge you the $35 minimum anyway. That's like a mechanic shop rotating your tires and also telling you "Hey btw you'll need new brakes soon so we went ahead and charged you for a brake job but we didn't change the brakes". Bad business.... loved Jim's before this experience too... I'm forever a Bowie's customer! read more
