All B&Bs were excellent, good beds, nice breakfast, quiet location and very friendly and helpful hosts. It was very special to really meet no one on the Moyle Way to the crossing of the B?? towards Ballycastle forest. We have had 2 wonderful meals in the Anzac restaurant in Ballycastle after two wonderful days walking. The combination of your descriptions and the maps worked perfectly. Also only praise for the B&Bs in Cushendall and Portstewart they were super cozy. The last walk to Portstewart was also brilliant. It was dry but very windy. Yesterday was a magnificent walk with the great views and surroundings. Again, it was a great experience for us, the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone, including yourself, made a great impression on us. Thank you!

Good value and…read morea good plan of action as my abiding memory of going to a concert at Slane Castle was the endless amount of walking from car parks / bus parks to the venue. And then the huge amount of time spent sitting in traffic trying to leave. It's a great venue, but I have avoided it in the past because of how difficult it is to get to and from there. Slane Farm Hostel was 300 metres from the Slane Castle grounds if the information they provided was to be believed. I took this with a pinch of salt, but it had to be better than arriving and leaving on the day, right? It ended up being just over 1 KM away for a finish (from camp to the gate we were allowed to enter by). Still, it was better than previous experiences. I don't know why I thought camping for the Foo Fighters concert was going to be anything other than a regular festival camping experience. There was plenty of screaming and shouting, which is fine (ear plugs). Other festival camping effects that I wont go into. But hey, SFH can't control people being idiots. And I need to finally accept I've grown out of camping at concerts :) The first camping field did seem to me to be too full by the time they opened the second field. I'm sure the staff controlling this tried to get people to park and pitch sensibly and I can imagine it's like herding cats. Our plans to depart at a reasonable hour on Sunday morning looked scuppered. But we managed to leave before 10 am in the end, which was great. At the moment I'm not sure I can recommend this as an alternative to going to and from Slane Castle for concerts on the day itself. Catch 22. All that said the staff we dealt with directly seemed nice enough. And I saw who looked like the owner dealing with an issue with the toilets down by the yards on Saturday morning - it was good to see they cared about that. And the toilets down by the yard always had loo roll.. If an opportunity to camp here at any other time of the year came up, I would go back to Slane Farm Hostel as their facilities seemed fine.

It had an in - room kettle tea/coffee biscuits, a tv that was a bit of a challenge to get to work and it was so quiet. So the tv is tuned to open at a menu featuring N'flix and it took a minute to realise I had to click along several boxes to reach the tv icon so it's no longer simple just to put on the tv. Our deal included dinner. We had a one course main so opted to pay €7.5 up charge for 10oz sirloins. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Each main included chips, but we held one back as we knew we simply wouldn't eat that much food and we really dislike food waste. While they had English mustard they didn't have the finest - Colman's. Breakfast was pretty good particularly if you are sausage bacon and egg inclined. Most of my breakfast was made from scratch and tasty. There's no fresh fruit, no cold meats, no fish (I realise this is my first visit and the owners will know what works at breakfast and I've been in higher star hotels that don't offer fish) and the mini croissants and mini chocolate croissants do really need re thought and upgraded. I'm aware too that myopic politicians in the country are deliberately punishing small hotels, outside the capital, by taxing hospitality to give the multi national hotel operators a punch in the nose for mercenary price gouging much of which is disgraceful. All the staff were genuinely friendly and the hotel environment was delightful. Hope to return.

It's…read morebeautiful from the outside, really pretty interior, and the woman at check in was exceptionally helpful and gave me early check in. But that was where my enjoyment ended. Couldn't get away from the place quick enough. Walked into the carvery at 12.26pm and 6-8 staff stood at the other end of the room. Carvery doesn't open till 12.30pm and I'm not sure how it works - do I seat myself? Do I get seated? No idea. And if I hadn't shouted down the restaurant at the staff, I'd still be standing there none the wiser. I'd been reassured by the woman at the front desk that their carvery was 'the best,' the meat was delicious and juicy, but beyond that it was rough going. Breakfast wasn't much better - and again, no one was particularly helpful about how the system worked. Lots of staff, just not very helpful. Room was absolutely freezing (in May!). There was a bright light from a corridor across the alleyway beaming into the room all night, and the walls were paper thin so it was loud all night, the room phone kept making an audible dial tone so I had to disconnect it. For the price, I wasn't thrilled at all.

You check in at the adjacent Daly's Public House. Lots of free parking. And breakfast is at the pub's restaurant. Staff are friendly and helpfull. A good choice for an Irish getaway!

A half hour drive from the Dublin airport, Daly's Inn is in the heart of the Boyne Valley prehistoric and historic sites. Rooms are in a quiet location in a tiny village with a coffee shop and grocery store. Across the parking lot is the local pub with great food and full bar. The room is clean with tea making setup, a large shower and tiled bathroom. Walls are thin, but guests were quiet and the pub closes up around 8 with masks only needed when entering and exiting. Check in for lodging is at the pub.

We drive back following the Mourne Coastal Route and wanted something nicer than just standing at a chipper. We saw the front of the hotel and decided to circle back and give it a shot. The hotel is literally just opposite the water and not far at all from Warrenpoint town centre. There was a wedding taking place and most of the hotel was just loud and busy but still, we headed up to the restaurant and SO glad we did! Despite a bit of confusion on arrival of where to go to be seated or if we could be seated, a few different waitresses eventually circled through and took our drinks and food orders, brought out everything while we sipped through ciders and kiddie-friendly bevvies, and enjoyed both the company, the decor, and the vibe. The food when it arrived was awesome. We sampled everything we ordered and honestly, not a single complaint - we shared through a chunky tasty bird-and-beef burger, pizza, spicy chicken curry, garlic bread, steamed fish and veggies and barbecue ribs. All of it was terrific - none of that greasy tasting feeling after - food was amazing and I actually was very impressed. It really did cap off our day trip quite nicely and I'm looking forward to maybe check-in sometime for a weekend and give it a whirl as well.

Most of my stays have been at the Whistledown and I've never had a negative thought about the place. The beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurants (there are two and a pub) are great. In fact the last several times I was there I ate dinner there each night (my stays are usually a week at a time). The hotel itself looks great. They still had some of the holiday decorations up, so it had a little bit of extra cheer this time around. I do know that the place is big for weddings now, so make sure you get your reservations as far out as you can manage. Oh...and you can't beat the view when you walk out of the front door. Carlingford Lough is right outside and you can look across to the Republic and the beautiful mountains there.
