However, I've eaten here for more work outings than I can count and survived, so I've gotta concede to three stars. For a higher end Chinese place, the menu holds some unusual options, including crocodile and venison. The duck is a recurring favorite as are the chicken wings - perfectly crisp and spicy. The chili crab is worth trying. Avoid anything stir or pan fried as it will be greased to within an inch of your life. The lobster though.... Sigh. This is what really kills me. We can't have a team dinner at Pacific House without one of these monsters. Averaging around $350 for a whole lobster, you might expect the kitchen to take some care in preparing your gold of the sea. Lower your expectations, and plan to be crunching on shell in everything, even the other dishes that you didn't think should come out with lobster in them at all. Sometimes overcooked, sometimes under seasoned, the most expensive item on their menu is the least consistent and worst served. The atmosphere is 1980s casino: cheap chairs with white tablecloths and disinterested table service. The restaurant is consistently crowded and loud, so clearly someone likes this place, but it is never somewhere I would choose to go myself.

Very busy even at 9pm, and very much Asian orientated with the clientele (not being racist, but this is usually a good sign). Service was a little bit on the average side, however once ordered, the speed of food coming out was great the food tasted even better. From memory, I think it was the Cantonese beef that was to die for. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

You'll typically have to wait 10-15 minutes for a table. While you do that you might want to get some BYO wine from the bottle shop across the street. I've eaten here on numerous occasions and the food for the most part is delicious. Just how a Parma is a measure of an Aussie pub, I find that the salt and pepper squid to be a measure of a Chinese restaurant. Ling Nam's salt and pepper squid is awesome. Their duck is also a personal favourite. As for the other things on the menu the other dishes are really good for the most part. I'd stay clear from some of their entrees though. The food would probably get an 8/10. The service is not great however. It is not that quick and not that friendly. On one occasion the waiter gave a friend visiting from the UK a tough time. He got heckled for ordering a Wonton soup. Then he got heckled for ordering beef in black bean sauce. When the food arrived the waiter said "Hey Englishman, here is your beef in black bean sauce" as he sniggered and laughed in my friends face. This not so "friendly banter" continued in every interaction. It was kind of a strange experience and my friend who had lived in China for 3 months was mildly insulted. I found it fairly funny but many people would not have appreciated such a mindf**k.

Ambiance: The place is really clean and authentic looking, with beautifully glazed mahogany tables and stools - something out of some old Chinese antique shop really. Customer Service: This is where it gets 1 star off. They weren't very professional or attentive. There was no set uniform, you just had the employees wandering around in street clothes so it's hard to tell who to speak to. You pay at the register and I ended up standing there for about 5 minutes before someone finally attended to me. Plus, they weren't very friendly :( Not particularly rude, just didn't say hi or smile much. The food did arrive quickly though so that's pretty much the only positive bit of the service. Food: I had Xiao Long Bao, which is my favourite Chinese dish - Shanghai-style Pork Dumplings with soup inside. Unfortunately, a lot of places mess up and the soup dries up or the wraps break and the soup leaks out. But the Xiao Long Bao here were AMAZING and this is coming from someone who is obsessed with sampling all the Xiao Long Bao Melbourne has to offer. None of the wraps were broken and all of the soup were still inside, even when you picked it up with your utensils. Great value, large, plump, soupy, delicious. Ohhh boy I'll be back for the Xiao Long Bao. I also had the Salty Chicken and Fish Fried Rice, which was really filling and tasty - all for 10 dollars. --- This place has great value, delicious food, and a very extensive menu. I recommend it to all those interested in Chinese food! They can improve on their customer service though. Maybe the uniforms aren't necessary - but be a little more kind and welcoming?

Reminds me of wonton noodles in Asia. Unfortunately the serving size is just too small with only 5 dumplings and too little noddles. Its a real pity that after enjoying such delicious food, I left the restaurant still hungry and unsatisfied. For the price, they could've easily added more noodles to make sure hungry customers (like me) finish their meals with a positive impression. For this reason alone, this place has lost one rating star from me. Service is... well this is a Chinese noodle shop... so not applicable. Just order, eat quickly and pay up.

China Bar Signature is a buffet of Asian cuisines. They have towers of Yum Cha style dumplings, soups, rice, sushi, seafood, traditional meat dishes, duck, Asian flavored ice creams/desserts and much much more. There is freshly cooked food constantly pouring out of the kitchen and into the serving trays as this place becomes over popular and busy at night. The Yum Cha dumplings are always a hit and people can be seen walking back to their tables with 5 or so bamboo steamers stacked up. Don't worry; the kitchen works hard so if they are out of something, it'll probably be back within a few minuets. The food here is tasty and satisfying, but like most buffets the quality isn't the best out there. I definitely would still suggest coming here at least once- just to try it out. The atmosphere is very lively and loud thanks to the hoards people. When I came I found the table service to be very quick...but too quick, they were trying to take away my plate before I had even finished it (this happened a few times). The only other downfall is the size of the plates. They were saucers rather than plates; you could hardly fit food on it, which meant multiple trips to the stations. The prices here are around $50ish at night, and only $30 for lunch (but seafood, sashimi and peking duck are only available for dinner).
