After securing tickets, we received detailed instructions via the 1iota website. We were told to check in two hours prior to the taping, along with guidelines on attire, bag size restrictions, and the strict no-recording policy. They also made it clear that once filming begins, there are no bathroom breaks. If you tend to get cold (like I do), definitely bring a jacket. Attending the taping was a really fun experience. The stage was much smaller than we expected, and we were surprised to learn that the desk and chairs are actually rolled out each night. I'm giving this experience a 4 due to the waiting time. Waiting over two hours to watch a show is a bit much. My husband and I decided to attempt to go to a live taping of Jimmy Kimmel. He signed us up online to try for tickets. Just because you sign up for tickets they are not guaranteed. About a week before we were going to Los Angeles he got an email confirming that we got tickets. On the day of the show we showed up about 2 hours before the show. There was a line beginning to form on Hollywood Blvd. My husband and I stood out there along with a ton of other people waiting to be let in. After waiting for about an hour the line started moving. Next someone checked our tickets which were on my husband's phone and then they waved us into another section outside where we had to wait again. We stood out there for over an hour. It was brutal but at least the weather was nice. After waiting for what seemed like forever someone told us that we would have to put our phones away in pouches for the show so no one was able to take out their phone during the taping. They slowly handed them out to everyone. After locking our phones up we were finally shuffled through a security section and on our way to the theater. In the building it was really cold. Luckily I had a light jacket with me and was fine. As we walked in they told us where to sit. Once everyone was seated someone came out to explain what would be happening. He was friendly and funny. He announced that they would let people use the bathroom prior to the show and release people in groups by sections. It seemed like everyone in every section got up to go use the bathrooms. Once everyone was done and seated the show began. The show went really fast. Jimmy Kimmel came out on the stage and gave his monologue. After being done he sat behind his desk getting ready for the guests. The guests were Martin Short and Jackson White. It was really cool to experience watching a live taping with celebrities. The interviews went really fast and the actual taping only lasted about 30-45 minutes. Overall this experience was interesting and entertaining. The wait prior to entry is way too long. Waiting over 2 hours for entry is a little extreme. The monologue Jimmy Kimmel gave was interesting and the interviews with the guests were entertaining. Despite the wait time prior to the show I am glad that I got to attend the show. It was an experience I've never done and am glad I got to go. An extra note. The pictures that I post from the show I took from my TV screen as it aired. Because our phones were locked away in pouches nothing was from the actual taping. I recorded the show to watch and see if I could catch myself and my husband in the audience and to get pictures of Jimmy Kimmel and his guests. read more

It's actually incredibly easy to get tickets to see Kimmel. I signed up spontaneously and then completely forgot about it, checked my email the day before the taping and saw that I was given guaranteed seats. We were only told that Robby Hoffman (Netflix comedian) was our guest but were pleasantly surprised to see that our secret guest was Kamala Harris promoting her new book (it's easy to see why her appearance was kept a secret). It was such a crazy experience to see her in person. We also saw Mark Hamill, who was there on a whim for a smaller segment where he just wanted to see if people would recognize him if they saw him on the street lol. I think we got lucky with the guests we were able to see. A few things to point out if you're going: 1. The studio IS very cold, so dress warm. 2. The studio is a lot smaller than you realize it is on TV. 3. You most likely WILL be on TV for like a millisecond or so, so don't be caught sitting with anyone you're not supposed to be with *cough cough* 4. You DO need to keep clapping and cheering very loudly through the entire hour. You may leave partially deaf with swollen hands when you're done. I did and had trouble taking off my rings until the swelling went down. Maybe just don't clap as hard as me lol 5. It's best to not bring any items with you. If you have a phone or Meta glasses or any sort, it goes in a Yonder bag until the end of the taping. 6. It's pretty cool to see Jimmy go through different segments and things he needs to tape promotion-wise like clockwork. He and the staff move like a well-oiled machine and it's very cool to watch. He also might have RBF when the camera isn't on lol. 7. Jimmy's wife is there too, so that's cool. 8. The person who hypes you up before the show starts definitely recycles what he says to each group (although he will say that he doesn't) ;) 9. Park at the mall across the street for free. Not sure which mall it is, but it's the one next to the Chinese theater. 10. Oh yeah, and they throw free Kimmel T-shirts at the crowd to hype people up. I didn't get one because they don't throw that far. People go rabid for these t-shirts. I think that's it. Tickets are totally free and it's a cool experience if you've never done anything like that before and have some free time. Highly recommend everyone to go to a live taping at least once. read more

When we booked our Los Angeles trip, I quickly put in an application to get tickets to Jimmy Kimmel Live. I didn't hear anything for a long time but just a few days before we left, I got the email saying we were in. I arrived a little earlier than my scheduled time and was immediately escorted to a shared lineup. And it's a good thing it was shaded because the wait turned out to be over an hour. (Apparently rehearsal went long.) As others have noted, you have to lock up your phone in a pouch that you get to keep. I brought a physical book with me, so that helped pass the time. Finally we were escorted into the studio, which is substantially smaller than you'd think. But the chair was comfy and we were given a bathroom break, which was definitely appreciated. The taping itself was energetic and fun. Jimmy wasn't there but guest host Diego Luna did a really superb job. It was very cool seeing him getting genuinely emotional during an interview with Dolores Huerta. And, to top it all off, everyone in the audience got free tacos! That was awesome. Happened to be in LA and really enjoying Jimmy for a long long time plus his musical guest was YungBlud whom we just saw a month a go at Hollywood Palladium venue down the road a month prior. The staff are great, friendly and they will answer all the questions you have. Parking can be tough but you can park right across the venue at the Ovation for cheap. The theater is amazing building right across from the TCL Chinese theater and the Dolby theater where the Oscar is hosting yearly. Plenty of things to do prior the taping. I've been to Jimmy Kimmel tapings twice now and also one of his outdoor summer concert series. The summer concert series was AWESOME and FREE! I hope they do it every year because to rock out to 5 songs of an artist in a parking lot in Hollywood after work, then still be home by 7 is a dream. Legit, the concert series was one of my favorite events. If you're a fan of the show, in town visiting and want to see what a late night talk show is like, or you like one of the guests a lot, it's a great time. It's not something I'm going to be going to on a regular basis, and it ain't for that anyways! Tickets are easy to get and it's nice because you can see the guests on your show day, too. I'm glad Jimmy Kimmel tapes right here in Hollywood because I've gotten to see: -Avril Lavigne, Yungblud & Travis Barker perform in the studio -Noah Kahan perform right in my face at their indoor stage -The Offspring at the outdoor concert stage -seen Kristen Bell who I'm obsessed with. -seen Kourtney Kardashian supporting her mans They put me on TV for one segment...a joke about me getting out of parking tickets with cops. The studio is small--holds 160 ppl. Taping is fast and efficient. The funny thing--the desk/carpet/guest chair is all brought out (not a dedicated set like Colbert). Fun environment. I was able to get last minute tickets to see Jimmy Kimmel Live for me and my parents! You have to request tickets so on the website, you have to say why you are a super fan! We all got sat towards the front and it was such an amazing experience. The staff definitely welcomes you and they're super helpful so feel free to ask any questions you have. I recommend getting there super early especially if you only have general admission to give time for parking and walking over to the venue. You can also park across the street at the Ovation and it's $3 for the first 4 hours. After they charge every 15 mins which is not bad at all and did I mention, the show tickets are FREE! I travel from Milwaukee to the Jimmy Kimmel show just for that reason got tickets approved got there and was turned away at the door stating they were full to capacity even after we had tickets I don't think the show realizes how much trouble people go through to be there and to just turn us away. I have gone to a total of 3 outdoor mini concerts at Jimmy Kimmel Live. The first 2 were in 2013-2014 (Fall Out Boy and Paramore). The third was Incubus. So you get the tickets via 1iota (the tickets are free and if you happen to snag tickets make sure that you go because they'll hold it against you if you cancel last minute or do no-show), and there are two options: priority and general. If you have priority, try to arrive before the designated time which for me was 5:15. For Fall Out Boy, since I had general, I remember arriving at 4pm-ish. if you want to get barricade try arriving at 4pm. (I was able to get barricade with fall out boy - but keep in mind there was a long line at that show and be prepared for a long wait). Also if you arrive early, you might hear the band doing a live soundcheck. This happened with Paramore and Fall Out Boy. For incubus, I arrived to the gate at 5pm, told the guard my name and showed them my ID. I get a wristband and then I go in to give my purse to another guard for them to check and then I go through the metal detector. After I get my purse back, I go into the concert space. I didn't get barricade, which was fine with me, I was able to see the band from the middle of the crowd. There are bathrooms to the left side of the stage but it helps to go before the concert starts which for me was 5:45-5:50pm. The website said that you weren't allowed to bring a hat or sunglasses. But given it was a sunny day, I saw lots of guys with caps on with minimal logos and sunglasses. If I were to go again, I would bring a cap and sunglasses because the sun kept hitting me. About five minutes before the show starts there will be a comedian who will hype up the crowd and he did a fantastic job of it. Then they'll tell us to put our phones away while the "recording is in progress." At 5:50pm, Jimmy Kimmel comes out on stage holding the new record the band is promoting and introduces the band that starts performing on cue. They performed "Wish You Were Here," and "Nice to Know You," in front of the cameras. After they performed in front of the cameras. We are treated to two-three additional songs as a thank you, hence making this a free outdoor mini concert. They performed "Anna Molly" and "Come Together (Beatles Cover)." Now what happens next depends on the band that performs. Before the show, Paramore sold CD's for $10 and if you bought one, you got to meet the band and have all members sign the CD after the concert. For Fall Out Boy, if you waited in the parking lot near the alley, you would have found Patrick Stump give everyone who waited a high five before he left. But because I was exhausted (I'm getting older ladies and gentlemen), I just went home. Overall, I had a lot of fun, I was dancing and singing along to one of my favorite bands. and if you get a chance to check out a favorite band while spending time in the city of stars, please do so. read more

WHY do they want us there so early?! It makes ZERO sense. We waited close to an hour and half to be let in after getting there close to the middle time range that they requested us. It made us even more upset that it didn't matter if you had early access or got there early because they move people around once you get to the door or once you get to security or once you get to the "bleacher" seats. There is no need to pay more for entry or get there early. Also, make sure you use the bathroom right before you get there. The set had chaotic energy--we loved everyone other than Don. He was a bit much and a bit off-putting (unfortunately he also graced us with his presence incredibly intoxicated the next day at The Comedy Store where he threw everything off the table in front of him and drunkenly attempted to sit on the table, legs spread wide open to the crowd. Gross. We immediately got up and left). If you remove Don from the set, the experience was interesting to watch and exciting to partake in. It moves so incredibly fast! I was surprised at how quickly the set managers, directors and other staff members were interchangeably working together. Perfectly sewn staff. Pure fluidity. How they didn't run into each other or have some sort of banter is shocking to me. Also, do not book if you think this is some sort of meet and greet. It is not. You are there to partake in watching the show from lights off to on to off again, laugh and listen. Jimmy makes a quick thank you remark at the end but that is about it. Short and sweet! Once you're seated you're entertained by Comedian Don Barris who's the funniest guy I've heard material from. Once the band and announcers come out the show begins. It's nonstop laughs and fun at the tapings. During the breaks, Jimmy will interact with the crowd and sometimes Don throws out some shirts and other swag. This post is actually about Jimmy Kimmel hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: while I understand that Jimmy and Matt Damon have some long-running gag about about Jimmy disliking Matt - the episode in which Matt teams up with Ken Jennings (from Jeopardy!) is just painful and distasteful to watch - as Jimmy repeatedly bullies, insults and belittles Matt - supposedly for laughs ???!!! Jimmy's repeated verbal attacks were far from funny and made me cringe. Especially considering the climate of our current political administration, words matter and bullying is simply unacceptable (and not remotely funny); even Ken Jennings appeared to be uncomfortable. This was definitely a different setting than what you see at home and not what you would expect. I've been waiting to see if the dates were open while we were visiting LA. To get this priority ticket, I checked the calendar on the website for over 4 months or more. And as soon as the date I wanted was open, I submitted my request. They asks few questions on there. I think I waited 2-3 weeks to hear back on my tickets. The day of the show, there's a line forms for priority tickets and regular tickets and standby tickets. We've got there at least 2 hours early and the line already started. We were at least 3rd people in line, which isn't bad at all. The line is form by the tmz place outside. The roof is covered at least. Around waiting for an hour, a guy comes out and tells us all about the show briefly and who are the guests. He also mentions the gift shop that's located outside. This place is very small, it's more like a booth outside with some mugs and shirts. I didn't check how much they were. We finally form a line to get into the building to sit down, they gives us at least 3 chances to go to the bathroom as you cannot leave the room when the show is filming. And you cannot use the bathroom after the show. And the phone and your smart watch much be turned off. The priority people are say close to the stage and after that for regular tickets, you just are being sat however they wanted you to seat. There's no bad seats since the place is fairly small but able to fit 200 people. There's a guy who entertains the people in between, how we should be laughing loudly, asking questions to the audiences, and throwing around free shirts. Jimmy came and talked with the audience once, with the guy seating in the very front and that was about it. The show itself was short. The whole experience felt forced. I had to force laugh loudly even when it wasn't really funny. Clap when it was appropriate. I guess this is Hollywood. Definitely something to see if you are die hard jimmy fan, but for me, it wasn't really worth waiting two hours and watching 40-50 clips of the show. read more

I "applied" for two tickets to see the show a week and a half in advance and was notified 3ish days before the show that I had "gotten tickets". However, you don't have a seat until you actually get to the show, wait in line for 2+ hours and then are welcomed in. I arrived early like the website recommended and got a good spot in line. The workers were friendly and answered all our questions. The check in process was just having them scan our tickets and showing our ID. They asked us to power off our phones and were then sealed in a locked bag that were eventually unlocked when the show was over and left the building. We walked through a metal detector and somebody took us to a seat that would fit your party and also seemed to suit you. I was incredibly excited when me and my best friend were placed front row about 7 feet away from where Jimmy does his monologue. The studio is very cold so absolutely bring a jacket! 30 minutes before the show was scheduled to start we had a crowd warmup, had a audience talent show, and even got to dance with the band and Guillermo! They gave our free t-shirts with a shirt cannon and really brought the energy. We were told some guidelines like when we needed to clap and that we should laugh even if we were confused. We got to see the clips that would be played on the TV for regular viewers in the studio on multiple screens around us. Jimmy interviewed somebody in the crowd and that was me! I've been to a lot of TV tapings, and this one was fun and well organized. The line seemed to go by quickly, and everyone was put into their seats on time (instead of last minute - which can happen). Jimmy was friendly and personable, and it was fun to see all the behind the scenes action. We were placed in the seats at the front behind the director - there's NO leg room here! So if you're tall keep that in mind. he one thing I appreciated was how many times they offered bathroom breaks! Some tapings I've been to you can't leave AT ALL (and for 4ish hours, that's not always fun haha). The only downside was that some of us wanted to leave before the music performance to beat traffic - I understood why they wanted to keep us (for the crowd, can you imagine if everyone left? Awkward). The music guests perform at the front in a separate area so they move the crowd out of the studio. It was nice that you could bring your phone in as long as it was off. No water bottles are allowed though which made it tough on a warm day! They sell merchandise at a pop up gift shop outside the studio. No snacks/food or anything like that (just shirts/mugs/etc). I suggest getting there well before your check - in time. And dress nicely! They do seat based off how they want the audience to look / your place in line (combination). read more

Jimmy Kimmel is a good one to see because since it is Live and a comedy show, they don't do retakes like a normal television show- you see everything once, so it doesn't get repetitive, and that's what goes on air. We lucked out and got tickets from "1ota.com" for Jimmy's special Halloween show with Harrison Ford!! Woot-woot! Jimmy was dressed up as Princess Lea, and the rest of the band were also dressed up in Star Wars theme. The wait wasn't that long. We got there around 3pm, lined up for half hour, and we got seated about after 4pm or so. Taping began around 530pm. I envisioned the studio to be bigger, but surprisingly, it was much more smaller and more intimate. The staff was super cool and just so you know, you will need to turn off your cell phone (they will check) before you head into the studio. I've been such a huge fan of Jimmy Kimmel, and really felt I was very lucky to have been able to see him live. He seems so cool in person. Loved this experience! The check-in staff were very gracious & accommodating. Lots of energy and crowd friendly to us. Once inside the studio for the taping. The two MC's were hilarious. They kept the audience engaged with jokes, questions and details about the show before Jimmy arrived on stage. Jimmy is naturally funny and vibes with the guest and audience well. He was able to incorporate aspects of his life( family man, friendships, political views) throughout the show using comedy. The guests on the show were Ben Affleck & Dane Cook...both were pleasant to watch. The show's band plays well. It's nice to see raw talent. And!! We got a surprise from Toys R Us "Geoffrey The Giraffe"... hilarious skit. read more

I've been twice to the filming of Jimmy Kimmel Live, though many more if you count the outdoor concerts I used to go to. Last year I made a new friend in line and got to see some celebrities I didn't care about get interviewed. A decent way to spend an afternoon. I went back last week and George Clooney turned out to be the guest. I'm not a huge fan, but in the late night talk show lottery, I think it's a win. Both times it was just ok, I didn't laugh out loud (other than when they told me to). But why am I giving it just 2 stars? Because the taping went excessively long, and my bladder couldn't make it. I politely told a staff member I'd need a bathroom as soon as the taping ended (rather than leave mid-show and ruin their taping). She assured me that would be no problem, but as soon as the show ended and I tried to bolt downstairs to pee, a security guard decided to pick a fight with me and call his supervisor and tell him I was threatening him. I'm half his size, but when I put my hand on his shoulder and tried to explain how dire my bathroom circumstances are, he decided that was a threatening gesture. Anyway, he caused an unnecessary scene, and then his polite supervisor told me where I'd need to go to the bathroom... across the street in a mall with a big line. Way to take care of your audience, Kimmel. They use us to make their show, then can't be bothered to make sure there's a bathroom available after sitting for 2 hours and acting like sheep to their directions. I won't come back to another Kimmel taping unless there's a REALLY good guest. read more

Jimmy Kimmel Live - Waiting in line at Jimmy Kimmel - Studio Taping Near Me - Hollywood, California

This is a review for the Outdoor Concert taping, NOT the studio taping. FIVE STARS FOR THE EXPERIENCE AND FREE TICKETS! Was incredibly fortunate enough to get 1 ticket for the John Mayer concert on Tuesday, Sept. 18th through 1iota. They were completely free! John was absolutely amazing! The acoustics and sound from the stage was good quality. Very sophisticated set up of the stage, complete with a giant screen and a fantastic light show. This was my first time at the JKL concerts, so I arrived early around 2:30pm and parked at the Hollywood and Highland parking garage across the street. JKL does validate ($2 for 4 hours), but I ended up paying a whopping $17 to park since I was there for more than 4 hours. BUT, I got to see a free concert so it was worth it in the end. There were some people already lined up at 2:30pm, but I was still in a decent place in line. I waited in line for a good 2.5 hours in the hot SoCal sun, but came prepared with some snacks, a 1L water bottle, a hat and SUNSCREEN! Should've brought an umbrella like some other people but wasn't sure they'd let me in with it. Around 3:30pm, we could hear John doing soundcheck which allowed us a preview of night's setlist. Also, there are some small slits in the fence outside of the concert stage so we could see John and the band doing soundcheck. We were checked in by 1iota staff and let inside around 5pm. I brought a small cross-body bag inside with me as well as my water (took the label off though). Even though I was in the middle of the line, I was still able to get a really good spot near the stage, about 2 people behind the rails. But no matter where you stand, you'll get a good view since the capacity of this concert was about 200. If you want to nab a good spot near the front of the stage, be prepared to come a couple hours early and to stand for a while. WEAR COMFY SHOES AND CLOTHING! At 5:20pm, they filmed the show inside the studio while we waited outside in the concert stage. At 6pm, Jimmy came out to introduce the band, and the concert began. They filmed the first two songs, and then JM played 4 more. The whole concert was about an hour, which was awesome! One of the best concert-going experiences of my life, would definitely do it again. Got to see John Mayer up close and personal for FREE. If he was on tour, it probably would've cost hundreds of dollars to see him in the first 5 rows. Plus, the show was very intimate compared to arena shows. read more

I have been a big fan of Jimmy for long time, I watch his shows on TV almost every night. That was why I asked hubby to take me to his live show, took him a while to do that, he had to schedule it on his vacation so we could catch it on a week day. We got priority tickets online, if we got there before 4 in the afternoon, we could by pass the line and get in first. Too bad we got there too late, had to wait in the end of the line for a while. But it was ok, it didn't take too long for us to get in and get seated. They put us very close to the stage and in the middle just next to the stairs. We had a very clear view of the show. Glad they didn't put us in the far back even though we were among the last people to get seated. Another staff moved us even more closer to the center of the stage, had no idea why he did that at the time, but when I watched the show on ABC player the next day, I know why, there was a camera on us the entire time of the taping, we were on TV many times when they showed the audience.... I was so excited to see Jimmy live, he is even more funnier in person! The host did a great job making the audience to cheer and applause at the right times, he was a funny guy too. It was amazing to see that many staffs work at the live show, it's really a lot of work to do an hour and half show! The guests were so funny too, just like all the guests I watched on TV. I couldn't stop laughing and applauding, everything went so naturally and smooth. After the taping of the show, we were brought to the Budlight mini concert in the back. That part was OK, I didn't like the artist Ne Yo too much, and it was too cold and tiring to stand there. We just went to the gift stand to get a few mug glasses and shot glasses. A very cute white boy staff walked up to us to tell us that we were easily easily the best dressed people there, hope we enjoyed the show very much, it was so funny! I thought I over dressed or something! He also said good bye to us very friendly while we leaving the concert before it was over. Actually all the staffs there were very friendly and helpful. I was so happy that I got to see Jimmy Kimmel live! I plan to do that again soon! Ps. They only validate parking tickets from Hollywood and Highland parking structure, validation machine is right next to the exit of Budlight concert. read more
