Jeopardy is filmed at Sony Studios in Culver City. Although there is free parking, I opted to get a ride to the studio rather than endure the LA AM traffic. The guard in front of the entrance was super nice and pointed to the walkup entrance which I walked through for about 30 feet and was met my another friendly guard. I was then directed to the booth preceding the audience waiting area for the show. The employee at the lot booth was also nice and chatty as I was early. He directed me to the red carpet area in the parking garage where I checked in w/the ladies at the desk. There are benches to sit on while waiting and there is a soda and snack machine. You can bring snacks and beverages for the waiting areas but, will not be allowed to take them in the studio, so make sure your snacks and beverages are disposable. There is a first group that goes through security which seems to be a priority/VIP group. Then the general groups go through security (not airport style) which is just running your bag or stuff through the machine/ The staff then walks us in groups to another waiting area in front of the studio where there is some waiting but not long. A lot of folks are taking pictures of the Jeopardy signs. The staff then tells us the rules for being inside the studio. No filming inside the studio except for the visitor's center designated areas, phone turned off during the taping, no yelling out answers, there are restrooms available in between episodes or use it now kind of thing. I went to the taping by myself as the Mr. was at work. I got to sit in the 2nd row which was great. Jimmy, the stage manager is so energetic and leads us in getting excited about the show, when to clap, and reminds us of the rules. He also was part of the Clue Crew years back until the long time stage manager retired. There was also a raffle for a Jeopardy duffle bag at the end. The show taping itself is fast paced. During the commercial breaks, the host Ken Jennings talks to the us-the audience and even cracks some jokes. He also does a Q&A. He is very respectful of how the late Alex Trebec did things and one of them was engaging with the audience. They also do some retakes to correct some parts. With my AM ticket, I was able to watch 2 episodes of the new Wildcard series which was of former champions that won either 1, 2 or 3 times but, may have lost to a super champion. There was an option for folks from the AM to also watch the PM tapings. There is a short lunch break to do that but, I only opted to watch a 3rd episode as I was kinda getting tired. Things that could be better are better snack or beverage options other than the machines in the waiting area. The visitors center is cool but, there is no gift shop for merch. I guess you'd have to check their website for that. Overall, watching Jeopardy tapings is a fun experience. In fact, my friend and I have tickets for an AM taping next month! read more

This is a must do for any Jeopardy fan! Super easy to register and check in. You park in their large parking structure, and meet in the lower area of the lot to check in. We had to fill out a form, and we walked as a group to the sound stage. Once inside, you get to see tons of jeopardy memorabilia and during the filming Ken Jennings talks with the audience and shares some fun stories! I felt so lucky to be a part of it especially since we just happened to register for a day where they were filming the Tournament of Champions! We got to see and meet past Jeopardy champs and players. We went to the afternoon taping and saw 2 shows back to back. You do get a little 15 minute break between shows to use the restroom or take pictures of their displays. I highly recommend this experience! read more

Fun experience! Every staff person was amazing, professional and seemed happy to be there. We arrived at 9:15 (ticket states to arrive by 10) and we were about 30th in line (they take something like 100 audience members and others will be turned away so the earlier the better). Parking is free and easy. Check in is easy...ID...sign a NDA...security. There is a vending machine at check in (if you want food, this is your only chance before roughly 1:30). Once inside there is some photo ops, a bathroom and a drinking fountain (some merch to buy but mainly for Wheel of Fortune). The actual show is fun (we saw 2 shows). There is roughly a 10 minute break between shows to stretch/take pics in the lobby (none allowed in the studio). Advice: 1) it is cold in the studio, layer up 2) you won't be able to eat between roughly 10-1 so plan accordingly 3) your phone is off and off some more between 10-1 so also plan accordingly...they are strict on this and 4) they do expect total quiet when they are taping so no whispering your answers (which someone behind me kept doing which was annoying) and make sure your child (my son is 12 and was fine but the girl behind me was probably 9 and she was squirming quite a bit) is able to sit for a few hours in silence happily. read more

We were fortunate enough to get two tickets to see the filming of Jeopardy hosted by Ken Jennings! David confirmed our tickets once we arrived. He was EXTREMELY helpful and oh, so courteous! My husband is recuperating from hip surgery so David arranged transportation from the entrance to the filming studio. From there, EVERYONE with whom we interacted treated all of us as royalty! This....is....Jeopardy!!!!!! In LA and want to see a taping? I very highly recommend Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune (which tapes in the next studio over). I went to Jimmy Kimmel, the Voice, Chelsea Handler's talk show, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy while I was living in Los Angeles. The last three were all located here at Sony in Culver City, they were the best experiences because they involved minimal waiting and very organized. The Voice was an 8 hour experience that involved way too much sitting around, so I don't recommend that one. FYI, all of these tapings I have mentioned are FREE! I took my parents to one Jeopardy taping and my friend to the other. The one session involved a taping of 2 episodes and the other was 3. The crew has this recording down to an exact science and it runs super smoothly. You arrive at SONY studios and park in the FREE garage. Any time you can avoid paying for parking in LA it's a bonus. There are some nice padded benches in the parking structure for you to wait on until you are taken to the studio. My mom was recovering from a hip injury and she greatly appreciated having a place to sit. After you wait in the garage, you are taken over by a guide to the studio. They give you a chance to use the restroom too. I think a bag search or metal detector was involved before entering the studio. You won't be bored in between takes. Johnny Gilbert, a sweet old man, is the show's announcer. He talks to the crowd and tells you some interesting facts about the show. Alex also chats with the audience in between tapings. My husband and I got tickets for Jeopardy as we are fans of the show. We initially weren't sure if this was actually going to happen since Alex was on medical leave for a month already and we figured this would wind up being canceled. However, we called a week before and we were confirmed which was very exciting. We arrived almost exactly 45 mins before the time on our ticket and we probably should have come a little earlier. We were towards the back of the line which wasn't a problem at all but we were more towards the back of the audience. However, there are so few seats (~100 I think) that sitting anywhere is great. Free parking in the garage is really cool. You really do feel like a guest of Jeopardy, not like they are doing you a favor for letting you be in the audience (ie the way CBS runs the Price is Right). As for the actual filming, it was actually a really great experience. For each group of people, they film either 2 or 3 shows and each show takes about 28 minutes to tape. The commercial breaks and the breaks between shows is pretty fast. I think we were done at 1pm for our 11am show. What was really surprising is that we never felt bored or like we were waiting too long, everything moved quickly. The actual game was really exciting in person and a lot of fun. It was pretty difficult to not shout out the answers. However, the most exciting part about Jeopardy is Alex Trebek. During all the breaks, he walks over and talks to the audience. Alex is actually really really funny, so much more so than you would ever know by the show. He is really personable and it not fake at all. He is very honest in all of his answers. Someone asked a really good question-"if you could put up a billboard with any message, what would it be?" Alex's answer after about 30 seconds of thought was something to the effect of "Acceptance, not tolerance". It was incredibly profound statement that pretty much sums up how he views the world and who he is. I was not a big fan of Trebek before the show but I gained a new perspective on him and think he is so cool now. Overall, if you are even considering going on Jeopardy, do it! It's well worth it and is a lot of fun. read more

I got my tickets through Tvtix.com where you can also get Wheel of Fortune as well as some sitcoms. Jeopardy tapes 2 separate shows on Tuesdays and Wednesday at 10:45 and 1:30. Parking is free in the Sony lot and a studio page walks everyone over to the set. They tape a few shows back to back but overall the you aren't there too long. I always liked Jeopardy because I feel like I am learning many random yet useful facts. In general, this is a really chill taping. You don't have to deal with the normal BS from being in a studio audience like constantly being told to cheer, clap, or be more energetic, waiting in line for a long time, or getting stuck in standby hoping you'll get in. Jeopardy does not care if they fill their audience like most other shows so the whole experience is pretty relaxed. You just have to show up and absorb knowledge. Alex Trebek answers audience questions in between commercial breaks which I thought was pretty cool. I think this is a must do for fans of the show or showing out of town guests around. Go before or after a Sony Studio tour. read more

Some are difficult. You learn by watching this show. It's educational. We have watched this show for years and enjoy it very much. We've always loved Jeopardy, and Alex Trebek, but have had to stop watching the show. James, the professional-gambling, know-it-all game-show zombie is a REAL turn-off. Yeah, he's smart, but so are the other contestants, who are being bullied. James reminds us of that robotic "Star Trek" android, Data, but WITHOUT any of his warmth, or charm. read more

I love going to TV shows, so now that I'm living three blocks from Sony, I thought I'd take the gang to Jeopardy one Wednesday morning. The ticket said to confirm our seats 5-7 days via phone, which I didn't do, but we still had seats. No one checked on that. Security was extremely chill. We were in the studio within 10 minutes. It was cool to watch the game in person, but it gets old soon, especially when they make you sit through three shows back to back. Alex Trebek answers questions during the commercial breaks, so prepare one! It's not the most exciting show to be a part of, but if you're a fan, you should check it out. read more

This was a really cool experience since I'm a regular watcher of the show! When you get tickets they tell you to call a week in advance to reserve your seats, I completely forgot to do this and it was still no problem to get in! The show moves quickly, Alex takes questions from the audience on commercial breaks, and Johnny Gilbert was very sweet and funny! Be careful of what you say in line as family members of the shows contestants may be near you in the audience (and past contestants as well!) Don't forget to bring a sweater, it is a bit chilly in there. For morning filmings they do 3 episodes and for afternoons they do 2, I went to an afternoon. I was waiting (as requested) at 1:30, taken in and seated by 2, and we were in our car heading to lunch by 4:30! Overall a very quick and easy entertaining day. A cool look around television history as well! (In their lobby they have their Emmys on display--very cool!) If you enjoy the show I'm sure you'll have a swell time. In comparison to other tv and film tapings I've been to this was an extremely relaxed ordeal! read more

I've watched Jeopardy for over 30 years. It's the one show I've always made time to watch, everyday. But sadly, they are no longer screening out some of the most obnoxious contestants ever. Several years ago, a co-worker told me his friend had auditioned to be on Jeopardy and was turned down due to his personality and not being a good fit to televise. I never met his friend, but in recent years Jeopardy has had contestants that are so arrogant and awful to watch that I've turned it off, and waited until the horrible contestant was gone. (The current one is one of the worst - jumping all over the board, making a viewer almost sea sick, and his arrogant smile of self-satisfaction is too much). At least in the days when a contestant could not be on for more than 5 days, you knew the rare obnoxious contestant would soon be gone. Not anymore - you can wait weeks before the horrible ones are gone. Please bring back the 5 day limit so we know the horribleness will end. Please stop the awfulness. (Some friends and family who used to watch and discuss it later with me, are no longer watching because of this. 5 days is enough, even when viewers enjoy a contestant). read more

I've attended a Jeopardy! taping twice and absolutely loved it both times. I'm local and can't wait to go again. I've been to a decent number of show tapings and this is by far my favorite. One reason is they are efficient and respect your time! So many tapings take forever--they make you wait for hours, stand in multiple lines, and sit through set changes and multiple takes. Not so for this show. Each episode literally takes the same amount of time that you see on TV, so 30 minutes (they do take breaks during the "commercials" but usually you get to interact with Alex Trebek at that time!). There's not a ton of time between when you arrive at the studio, get checked in and seated, and the show starts. It's all an extremely well-organized system. Another great thing about Jeopardy! is they don't show the audience, which means they don't really provide a dress code. And they don't ask you to cheer or laugh--in fact, that would probably be frowned upon! It's actually an introvert's perfect taping. One tip is they tell you on the ticket not to bring cell phones, but actually they don't enforce this policy at all. They don't even collect them, so you can actually bring your phone and just keep it off/silent. The reason I say this is the first time we didn't bring phones and couldn't take pics in the lobby. There is an area to take a photo with fake contestant podiums, and there are some other cool memorabilia items. So you probably want to bring at least one phone to take a picture! read more
