Greer Gardens - Driveway - after

    Greer Gardens

I hired Greer Gardens because we were preparing to list our home, and I specifically explained…read moreduring the estimate that I wanted both the front and back yards to be show-ready. The estimate was for a three-person, full-day cleanup at $2,517, including pine straw and "the cleanup items we discussed". The crew did improve parts of the property, particularly the front yard, but the overall result was far from what I understood "show-ready" to mean. Much of the debris, pine straw, branches, and overgrown areas remained, especially in the backyard. The backyard was mostly mowed and lightly trimmed, but substantial cleanup was still needed. The backyard required enough additional cleanup that we had to arrange for a small dumpster to be delivered that same week. We filled it with debris, pine straw, branches, and other material left behind, and there was still more that could have been removed. Afterward, the company explained that the estimate was essentially based on the amount of time the crew would spend on the property, rather than completion of a clearly defined scope of work. That was not clear from the estimate email. They did say that during the estimate, they said they would "see how much they could get done in one day" although I don't really remember that. I just remember saying what I wanted the outcome to be. The representative was courteous and acknowledged that the work did not reach the level I expected. The company ultimately reduced the invoice to $2,000, but I still felt the completed work represented less than half of what I had requested. I told them I would only be comfortable paying half of the invoice, but they said they could not do that because of their overhead. My advice to future customers would be to get a detailed written scope that clearly states what will be completed, rather than relying on a "full-day cleanup" description. As the professionals, I would have expected them to recommend the appropriate amount of time and labor needed to achieve the result I described. A time-based estimate may leave the customer paying for hours worked even when the agreed-upon outcome has not been achieved. I would have been much more comfortable receiving a quote for the project as a whole, so I knew I was paying for the finished result I requested. In hindsight, I wish I had gone with another company that quoted a higher price and planned to complete the work over two days. I chose Greer Gardens because they were available one day sooner and we were in a rush to get listing pictures taken. But based on the final result, that decision was a mistake I am now paying for.

Eight tea trees were planted and all were and still are very healthy looking but 7 have never bloomed. I have been questioning the lack of blooming since they were planted. I decided to wait until this year and still no bloom on 7. The one that is blooming is not even the same variety. Looks completely different. I ask for them to be replaced and was told at my expense they could. I feel this is not acceptable as I did not get what I wanted. Some privet hedge would do what the tea olives are doing which is nothing. He wanted to charge me to remove the ones not blooming. He offered a small discount to remove and no compensation for the plants. Only sell me a different kind of shrub. No thanks. I just would have liked some compensation to replant a different plant and return the non blooming plants. Responsive to my calls but I'm disappointed in their customer service. It always ended with trying to sell more services rather than resolve the issue at hand.

Within a couple of weeks after completion, the grout started breaking and crumbling. I contacted the owner Molly Mosley and sent her pictures of the damaged grout. She said she'd send them to her son to get it fixed. He didn't contact me. When I text messaged him, he told me that he had a few other jobs that he was behind on and it would be a few weeks before he could fix it. Multiple weeks passed and he never contacted me so I reached out to him again and got no replies. He blew me off. I then tried contacted the owner Molly who wouldn't reply to my text message until I said I'd start legal action. She told me her son was out of town on a job and would contact me within a few days to schedule him to fix the grout. He never did. When I tried contacted Molly back, she ignored my text message and neither one of them replied back. Grout isn't supposed to crumble and crack two weeks after installation and especially when I paid 13,000$ for this stone work. It's just terrible workmanship. This family owed business is terrible, they're liars and can't be trusted. Service after the sale doesn't exist with them. Stay away! Not worth the headache.
