Unfortunately, Jim has left us stranded with MAJOR problems in our new home and we have now filed suit to recoup our loses. We hired Jim to build our home which was completed in December of 2017. Very soon after move in, we had several issues arise with our home. The two major issues that the lawsuit will address are the flooring is coming up and the custom shower which is leaking into our basement. I have had two 3rd party inspectors come through for the flooring and both have pointed fault at the installation. The installation was completed by a contractor Jim hired and that he no longer does business with. The other issue is the shower. It has leaked into the basement on and off since we have moved in. That is in the process of being torn out and repaired. Our new contractor, who specializes in custom showers, has confirmed that the issues are due to faulty installation of the base/pan liner and has gathered evidence as he has worked. He has to remove the entire base and the subfloor due to rot and mold. It's a mess. Based on Jim's refusal to remedy these issues, we have filed suit. No one should have to deal with these issues in a new home. Another concerning thing is that Jim had asked me for $20,000 before our final payment was due - he said that things were tight and he needed a payment ahead of the schedule. I did provide this to him at the time since we were on good terms then but looking back, this is a bad sign financially for a business. My advice is to utilize a different builder. read more
