Worst experience I have had buying a vehicle. Sleazy salesman and unfulfilled promises. Was told 2nd key FOB would be included but they could not find it and would send it to me. Also, keypad on door had double-sided tape used to repair broken clip. Was repeatedly told these issues would be resolved, have text messages to prove these interactions. Was just notified (8 months later) from their sleazy sales manager that these issues would not be resolved. I hope this review steers people away from this company as they are an example or an outfit with a "big" name and sign but are still just sleazy used car salesman. read more

I had a great experience with the dealership as well as my salesman Jonathan Bay. He took the time for find the exact truck that I was looking for, and also was very knowledgeable about the vehicles that they are selling. He was prompt, professional, and was patient with any questions that I had. I was referred by a family member who also had a great experience with them. I would not hesitate to send any friend or family member to work with Jonathan or with this dealership in general. If you are frustrated with the "big dealership" experience of high pressure sales tactics and are looking for an easy going professional environment to purchase your next vehicle then look no further. I will definitely go back whenever I have a need again. read more

I worked with Darrell on a new truck and was completely impressed with his professionalism and honesty. Having spent hours on Autotrader looking Jim Butler Chevrolet was a breath of fresh air. All the other dealers I called were not willing to honor the price that was shown on Autotrader. Some of them were $5,000 - $6,000 more than advertised. Not so with Jim Butler. They had a $495 ish doc fee and that was it. Priced as advertised. Give Darrell a call. He will take care of you. read more

Drove 4.5 hrs one way after substantial due diligence about the advertised vehicle. Salesman was polite and had been helpful sending additional photos via email prior to the trip. The vehicle was in the best shape of any we'd seen of the same year/model, and clean. The test drive was uneventful and we decided to purchase. The sales price advertised was $18,000, but we found out there was a catch to it. We had $18,000 cash in hand, but to use it the price went up to $19000+fees. Only if we financed it, would the price be $18k. Their financing terms (discoverable only after all the finance applications forms, with personal information disclosed, were filled out, followed by a long wait to see the business official) were set up so that the max down payment was $3k, and the remainder stretched out over a year and a half with limits on the amount we could pay off per each six months. Apparently the salesman is not allowed to know/answer those associated questions. So their advertised price was just a means of getting people in the door and manipulate them into paying the dealership more either on the front end or in the long run via financing. They named this "Dealer Financing Assistance." At the least, I found the process unethical, if not downright manipulative in intent, and misleading advertising. We chose to leave the vehicle with them, and cut our losses to the cost of fuel. It was beautiful weather and a nice drive both ways. Found same yr/model vehicle the next day, less mileage, more options, same condition, one owner, no accidents, private sale, for a comparable price, no BS, and hours closer to home. read more

Jim Butler Centralia is an oasis in the car buying desert. The sales, service, and management staff are very responsive to customer needs for vehicle variety and any aspect of the purchasing experience. They flat out take care of the customer. Friendly when you come in, attentive when you are there, standing behind you and your vehicle when you leave. We have purchased a number of cars and trucks from them and have loved every minute. They deserve the very highest recommendation. read more

Buying my new truck (April 2022) was an excellent experience. The salesman and the team even stayed late that night to do my paperwork. Fast forward to July 10th I scheduled my service online. I need oil changed, tires rotated, warranty work, key pad set (they didn't have the machine at the time of purchase) and for them to check a noise. I got an email follow up on the 11th stating they would contact me to confirm appointment. On July 26 I emailed again wondering why no one would contact me about service. Since I have called, left messages everything and still nothing! I recommend them to so many friends after the positive buying experience and now I wish I wouldn't of. read more

We came to Jim Butler to trade in our car for something bigger to accommodate our growing family. We chose Jim Butler because they had a specific car that fit our needs for our growing family. We were told that we would have to bring the car back to have the license plate bracket installed, the windshield repaired and touch up paint completed. While driving the car home we realized the rotors were extremely warped. In the following days we also realized that the rear hatch leaks when it rains and leaks a substantial amount of water into the car. We also had the stored codes checked and it had a transmission code stored for the shifter knob not functioning properly. We had no issue bringing the car back although I will add that the work took far longer than they had estimated, wasting my husband's entire day off just about. They checked things out and said that the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. Nothing was actually taken care of on our first visit back. They set us up for an appointment to have the windshield replaced in Columbia and we were able to have that taken care of at a later date. We took the car back for a second time to have things fixed and they fixed the brakes and rotors and said that they fixed the hatch and the shifter knob as well. We had the codes checked in the car again and the shifter knob was still not working and the hatch still had a leak. We were very frustrated by this. We called to speak to the dealership and we agreed that they would replace two of the tires since they were below the treadwear indicator and that would be compensation for our time and inconvenience. We were told that they were ordering the tires and we could bring the car in at a later date to have that fixed with the other things as well. They called us when the tires were supposed to have came in and we took the car in only to learn after my husband drove back home again that they simply just rotated the tires and the same old tires were left on the car. The fourth time we took the car back they actually had the tires in and were going to work on the hatch again and diagnosed the shifter knob problem. It was at this visit that we learned the shifter knob actually needed to be replaced because there was a bulletin out on it and they said they needed to order a new seal for the rear hatch. We were told on our fourth visit that they would fill our gas tank before we receive the car back and that they would send someone to come pick up the car and bring it back home. on the day that they were supposed to come pick the car up for its fourth visit they called that morning and told us they were unable to come get our car so we had to reschedule yet another time. Today they came and got the car for the fifth time and said again that they would fill the gas tank. The car has returned and it appears the issues have been fixed but we will see when it rains. They also didn't fill the gas tank this time. Additionally we did not receive the title to our new car until 5 days before it had to be titled and registered in the state of Missouri. We bought this car March 8th and it is just now completely ready for us to own. We absolutely 100% do not recommend anyone buy a car from Jim Butler, this has been such a headache and annoyance. read more
