We thought it was a regular sit-down type of restaurant when we first popped in before we realized it was just a much nicer fast food burger joint than we had back home. The menu isn't super descriptive and I don't speak German, but I was able to make out some of it from the online menu and photos. I got the regular size (one patty) JB Champignon, which came with mushrooms, cheese, and sautéed onions. I decided to make it a combo with their freshly made lemonade and garlic bread instead of fries, because I had never seen it as a side to a burger before (not thinking there would be an excessive amount of bread). I'm a big eater but the burger turned out to be larger and wider than I had expected, so I was glad I only got the one patty instead of two. These are the kind of burgers you might want to eat with a fork and knife! The burger also came with lettuce and, unexpectedly, this creamy, mayo-based type of sauce, which was good but got to be overwhelming and very heavy near the end. I ended up scraping some of the sauce off the bun and then later gave up on the bun to eat most the garlic bread instead. Like some other restaurants in Europe, my husband had to pay extra for ketchup, which was their own chain brand that came in a big packet. I also took a couple sips of his Fritz-kola, which is a soda brand made in Hamburg. My husband was also very stuffed with meal (I think he got a two-patty JB BBQ, but I can't remember). We were both really impressed with some of the people around us who were licking their plates clean. It seemed to be a pretty good bang for your buck, though more expensive for us in general with the conversion rates from Canadian into Euros. Clean washrooms, quick and fast service, less waste because of the real cutlery and plates they give you - I can see why this place/chain is so popular! read more

Though the burgers are a bit expensive, they are a joy to bite into when you are craving a burger similar to something you would find in the US. Their burger sauce is pretty good, and everything is fresh and made to order. Another downside to it being a bit expensive, is your not full after one burger. read more

Gorgeous, the food is really good, but also a little bit expensive. For sitting and eating it's perfect, but not if you take just one burger by the way - fast food. All in all, delicious and big (burgers). read more

This used to be a five star place. Unfortunately, the quality seems to have taken a dive. Service is fast and it's so busy you have to fight for a seat. This hasn't changed. These are the reasons I'm disappointed: 1.) My favorite items, the salad and the sandwhich with thinly sliced filet has been discontinued. Only variations of burger patty are available now. 2.) They ran out of carbonation for their fountain drinks. They offered a bottle of Fritz Cola instead, but didn't have any in diet. 3.) I ordered a salad with balsamic vinegar and got one with French dressing. 4.) They remade my salad and it tasted like both balsamic and French dressing combined. Was the mixing bowl clean? 5.) It used to be that their salads used the finer parts of the leaves. My salad tonight consisted of at least 50% white parts, the tough and tasteless sections of the lettuce leaf near the stem. I ended up eating less than half of my salad. Even my husband who happily gobbles up my plate and his took just a few bites and gave up. Honestly, with the filet strips no longer on the menu, I have no reason to return to this Jim Block or any other Jim Block. read more

I went inside to investigate…read more Apparently it means that it has two counters, a normal McDonalds one and a very Starbucks-esque one that sells all manner of coffee and cakes. I'm not sure I totally see the point, but I guess being able to choose the coffee you want at a drivethru would be good. Inside the place is pretty randomly decorated. One third of the seating area is like a starbucks, another third is how you'd expect a flagship McDonalds restaurant to look - very shiny, and the middle third is some sort of weird hybrid. One final thing worth mentioning is that they have a children's playground and a drivethru.

The food was hot and even the fries were crispy. The burger was tasty and had fresh ingredients. The last time I ordered there, I had a burger that is not going to be my favorite, but thats because I like my burgers simple and just with cheese and vegetables. I would say it's a solid burger, but you just can't compare it to really good burger like at In-n-out. The diner itself is held in a 60's style, red furniture and chrome. It's a nice place to get a bite to eat.

Also ich war vor einigen Tagen das erste Mal in Wandsbek essen und ich muss ja sagen, dass ich schlicht weg begeistert war. Der Service war sehr engagiert in den wenigen Sekunden des Bestellvorgangs ein richtiges kleines Verhältnis zum Kunden aufzubauen, was im Vergleich zu dem Standardfragebogen den die Kollegen von nebenan mit entgeisterten Gesichtern und schlechter Stimmung runter leiern, sehr erfrischend war!! Jim Block ist wirklich richtig gut. Ich gehe sehr gern hier essen. Es ist halt fast Food aber viel edler und besser als in anderen Fast Food-ketten. Darüber hinaus finde ich es auch gut, dass das Essen hier wirklich frisch quasi vor deinen Augen zubereitet wird und das schmeckt man auch. Die Portionen sind für die Preise wirklich üppig und absolut ausreichend, dennoch hat man die Möglichkeit seinen Burger upzugraden. ps. Die Mayonaise hier ist die Beste. read more

Im Vergleich zu anderen Fast Food-Ketten ist Jim Block wirklich nur zu empfehlen. Das Essen ist sehr frisch zubereitet und die Portionen sind mehr als üppig. Natürlich sind die Menüs hier etwas teurer, aber auch nicht übertrieben. Wenn man die gleiche Menge an Essen woanders haben möchte, muss man auf jeden Fall schon tiefer in die Tasche greifen und dann ist die Qualität ja trotzdem noch nicht unbedingt die Gleiche. Der Vergleich zu McDonalds dürfte für den Betreiber eine Beleidigung sein zu Recht! Die Qualität ist echt nicht vergleichbar Bei Jim Block schmeckt das Fleich frisch, das Burgerbrötchen ist knusprig und die Pommes sind einfach nur traumhaft. So macht Burger Essen Spaß! + Qualität + Auswahl + Frische Zutaten Die Preise im vgl. zum McDonalsmenü ok, allerdings natürlich schon im oberen Bereich. Weiter so! read more

Bin immer mal wieder in diesem oder einem der anderen Jim Block Läden. Meinen Favorit (BBQ Burger) gab es heute mit Salat (Balsamico/Öl-Dressing). Die Qualität also Geschmack wie gewohnt/gleichbleibend lecker! Es war lediglich der Burger nicht richtig heiß, sonst hätte es auch die 5 Sterne gegeben. Der Salat an Stelle der Pommes ist mein persönlicher Tipp! :) read more

Das Essen war wie immer sehr lecker! Nur leider fehlt der Bedienung einiges an Freundlichkeit! In der Anfangszeit war es noch nicht so. Nur leider arbeiten mittlerweile junge Frauen da, die überwiegend pissig bzw. aufgesetzt freundlich mit den Kunden umgehen! Ich war in mehrerin Jim Blocks aber kein Burger schmeckt soooo lecker wie in Wandsbek es wird schnell und lecker vorbereitet. Die Mitarbeiter sind nett und begrüßen Kunden mit einem herzlichen lächeln. read more
