I called earlier to ask for the cost of a basic conventional oil change, and the guy on the phone said $25.99. I thought that was odd since that's quite cheap! I decided to go the next day anyway to try it out. I went inside the shop and the guy at the counter said that cost of conventional oil change is $45.99. Not sure if the guy on the phone said it wrong and trolled me or if I had heard it wrong, either way, I went with it since I would get a 10% off at the end. The guy asked for my car model and then proceeded to drive my car into the garage. They opened the hood and within a minute the guy came back to me and said that my car needed synthetic oil (which is $20 more and pricier, but better in quality. This I knew). I told the him that I have always used basic conventional and that it even said in my car manual. The guy then said, "Well, sure, but I could put cooking oil in there and our company will not take coverage of it if anything happens". This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Basically, he said that he will only care if I purchase the synthetic oil. There's really no choice for me here. If I ask for conventional oil, it will probably screw up my engine because who knows what he will put in there (e.g., cooking oil as he had mentioned).
