Honest, Caring & Exceptional Service!…read more I can't say enough great things about Mavis Tires & Brakes in Leland, NC. Their professionalism, honesty, and genuine concern turned what could have been a very stressful situation into a surprisingly positive experience. I went in for a simple oil change before driving to Virginia. When they removed the motor cover, they discovered that antifreeze had spewed everywhere and immediately told me I could not drive the car. Looking back, I truly believe it was a Godwink that I happened to take my car there that day--because if I had gotten on the road, I would have ended up completely stranded. Gene, the manager, and the team took charge, kept me informed, and worked diligently to locate the parts needed for my Audi. And as anyone with a European car knows, getting the right parts can sometimes be a challenge. Once they received the parts, their mechanics completed the repair promptly and got me safely back on the road. I also witnessed their honesty firsthand while waiting in the lobby. Another customer came in thinking he had a nail in his tire. Mavis took care of the issue, and when he asked what he owed, they told him nothing. No unnecessary repairs, no upselling--just honest service. That kind of integrity is priceless. Thank you, Gene and the entire Mavis team, for taking such great care of me and my Audi. I won't hesitate to bring my car back, and I'm happy to recommend this location to anyone looking for people they can trust!

I was all set to pay and they said their state inspection computer system was down and blamed it on DMV. So all that time and not letting me know? They Had me schedule another day, so I did. But I specifically asked if it came back online that same day to call me so they could try again. They said sure. I got in my car and went straight to jiffy lube a few blocks away and they did my state inspection in 15 min. I then went back to O'Learys to cancel new appt. And they said the computer came back up 30 min ago and they thought about calling me but said they would just wait for me to come in on rescheduled appt which was 3 days time. Wth? Never going back here just solely based on that statement and also for making me wait 40 min without an update.

They have bent over backwards for me several times when i have been in need. Also, from a year ago: Went to these guys for a full synthetic oil change on 5/23/23 -- their price was $30 cheaper than Jiffy Lube! Then, coincidentally, as I was leaving town at 1230 on 5/26 on 74, my steering wheel started shuddering whenever I steered toward the right at high speed. Immediately turned back to Grease Monkey. Alan accompanied me on a test drive all the way from Monkey Junction back onto 74 to troubleshoot, ordered two control arms on the spot, shoehorned me into their schedule and had me back on the road by 4:30PM. Incredible! Nicest, most respectful guys and so relieved to have found a dependable, trustworthy shop. I had no idea they did all sort of mechnica work!

I was told it might be the alignment, or the tire balancing; I had them do both. I was told my brakes were "worn" (whose aren't?!), but didn't have that done. I was also told the age of my tires might be leading to dry rot. (5 years) When I got out on the highway, the vibration was WORSE! I had to drive at a slower speed to a Subaru dealer in VA. They told me I had a bubble in one tire, & they were "feathering". I had them check the brakes, & they MEASURED the brakes pads at 3 mm, which indicated they needed replacing. Tires were on sale. So I replaced! My Master mechanic son-in-law, When he had taken a look at my tires & heard my story, said: "You need to find a new place to take your car." Wasted $175!
