I made the first of what will be many trips to Jiaozi 88 today. I was looking for something light for lunch so put in an online order for the shrimp dumplings (har gao) and tom yum soup with chicken. Everything was fantastic, bright and fresh. The sauce for the dumplings was delicate and nicely salty, the dumplings were fully stuffed with perfectly cooked shrimp. The very hot temperature and richness of the tom yum was just right on a cold and rainy day. I am looking forward to eating my way through the entire menu. read more

Incredible service! So friendly and welcoming. Loveeeee the pad Thai! Super basic to get and actually not what I was going for but I was recommended to try it so much so that I did. Literally perfect! The Cambodian egg rolls were delish and even when I heated the leftover ones in the oven the next day, they were yummy! The soup dumplings are what are hands down the best ever! If there isn't a lady wielding giant scissors, pushing a cart full of covered dishes, yelling "HAR GOW???" at you, is it really dim sum? Still, while you can expect to pay more than you'd expect- $7 to $8 a serving, you do tend to get 5 pieces. Selection is limited, but pretty tasty. The soup dumplings were quite nice, as were the Cambodian egg rolls. The har gow had tasty filling, though my husband felt the wrapper was too thigh. The shu mai was ok- could have had a bit more flavor. If you want dim sum around Utica, though, come here. The person behind the counter was very kind. AMAZING. Seriously. Great prices, but the food is next-level good. Every single item exceeded expectations. The veggie spring rolls were scrumptious and filling on their own. Tldr; order anything because everything is perfect. Details below. We're looking for local dumpling offerings and lucky to have found Jiaozi 88. The Peking Ravioli were delicious and served with a wonderful sweet sauce. The dumpling skin was hearty and enjoyable, good texture with a soft and flavorful pork filling. We were looking forward to trying the takoyaki but it was unavailable so we substituted with a calamari which was delicious. We had to wait a little longer than expected for pickup and the owner was very gracious and gave us Shanghai soup dumplings on the house. They were incredible! So good, we ordered again the next week and made sure to add Shanghai dumplings. We're taking a tour of the menu and enjoing all the offerings. Pad Thai was tasty with a perfect texture and flavor. Yakiudon delicious and the udon noodles cooked perfectly. The takoyaki was available and we couldn't be happier! Should have ordered 2 portions! Bibimbap hit all the right notes making for a perfect experience. Soup, wonderfully light miso udon soup with complex flavor and simple offering. Our first order was the vegetable miso udon, the vegetables were still firm giving a nice texture. Our second order was chicken miso udon and I say this as a professional cook of 15 years, the chicken is the most tender I've ever had in a soup. We will continue happily ordering until we have tried the whole menu because there has not been one disappointment. All of the offerings have been fresh with without the greasy heaviness found with some other restaurants. This place is awful.. rude staff right when we walked In. Got our order wrong. Overly pricy for crap food. This is the chow fun, consists of gelatinous noodles and drenched in a nasty thick gravy. For the most part was clean but the issue I had when trying to get a straw for my drink all the straws are unwrapped and just exposed to all the germs and who knows how many peoples hands have touched them. My boyfriend ordered the Oyakadon and it came out 3/4 mushrooms which is weird because he's been to Japan and reported that in fact should not have mushrooms period, especially most of the dish. The food and especially the customer service are awful. I was treated poorly for coming in one hour prior to closing. If you wish to close at a certain hour, close early. Don't take it out on others trying to pay you for a meal. It's not like I came in 10 minutes prior to closing, and it was a simple take out order. Found this small, hole in the wall restaurant while visiting family in the area. Dim sum was excellent! We had the soup dumplings, har how and shiu mai. Super delish! Also ordered ramen bowls- I've had better. Missing the depth of flavor that I've had at other restaurants. They have seating but counter service (didn't know that until we arrived. ). AMAZING. The food here reminds me of time spent in Taiwan. The soup dumplings are (literally) bursting with flavor and taste just like the authentic Xiaolongbao I know. I also have had their soups, which are very large portions and also delicious. The menu is quite diverse (Cambodian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and more). If you like any kind of Asian food you'll definitely find something here you will like (or probably LOVE). The owner was very nice when I went in for lunch and even gave me two complementary dumplings that were also really good. Everything was hot and made fresh, so yes you might have to wait 10-15 min for the order but it is totally worth it. I would definitely recommend this for someone searching for great tasting, authentic, fresh Asian food. Went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who's eaten there many times. We were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable the food was great. We did not order ahead of time and we ate in the restaurant. It was only about a 10 minute wait for the three of us the food came out hot and delicious.
