Just finished my first Brazilian wax (in forever) w/ Johnna & she's such a sweet woman! The vibes were kind of awkward at first but maybe it's also because I was super nervous to get waxed for the first time since 2017! After getting on the table, she was able to keep a conversation going with me so I was distracted from all the pain LOL. I knew it was going to be painful considering it's been a long time since I've gotten waxed but she told me it'll just get better & better the more that I go :) The wax felt a little painful (kind of like a rug burn) while she was coating my underarms (this was my first time getting my underarms waxed) but I think it's because she had to wax it a few times! She also insisted to wax a few areas that she noticed on my legs for free; I thought that was very considerate of her! Not the best experience I had for a wax and I will not go back. I had a Groupon so I texted her to schedule an appointment. The first thing she said was "I am not taking Groupon during the middle of pandemic." This was past February and I have redeemed several Groupon at different beauty salons with no problem whatsoever. I was shocked with how she responded (definitely not professional) and asked then why she was selling Groupon if you are not redeeming them. Her word was that Groupon screwed her over and she couldn't take her Groupon off blah blah blah. So I told her no thank you...then she offered me to wax me for a discounted price. So I was like okay, asked what time she was available on the day I wanted to schedule. She said 5:30pm....did not give me any other options. On the way there, she texted me saying "I'm here if you wanna come in".... I left the house accordingly to the appointment and just because she has extra time doesn't mean I can come in early now....it would have been different if she told me that like an hour ahead or something, but she literally texted me 15min before my appointment. The whole text messages up till this point seemed unprofessional and it was all about her, not clients. Once I got to the building, her room was completely shut, dark and I could not even tell if she was there. So I walked around and make sure I was at the right suite... came around and she slightly opened the door said come in. She was laying down on the couch with her feet up, no lights and watching a video on her phone like it was her home....surely not what you expect to see from a business owner at a business setting. Like other yelpers said, she told me to fill out the paperwork, not anything about the procedure, but about how I was not going to be able to use Groupon ever.....again something I have never seen before. Before I got on to the bed, she said mask is only optional (during the time mask was mandated). I told her I would keep my mask on.....she was not wearing any and coughing at the same time (very nice), and told me how she was sick and tired of covid and mandatory masks etc..... While the procedure was quick and painless, she kept watching the video as she was waxing me.....and once I got home, I noticed that she missed a couple spots. I just think she is not professional enough to own a business and for people who are not looking for that, I guess she would be fine. I could find someone who is professional and friendly at the same time so I won't be going back to her. read more

I don't like giving bad reviews, but I will always give an honest review. TIP: Check-in on Yelp in order to get 20% off any service. Just got back to the office from my first visit to JG Skin. Feeling a little, irritated/disappointed in my experience. Let me tell you why. I arrived on time to suite 112 for my 1:15p appointment, but saw the sign on the door was for some other company. Nice girl at the front desk said the massage place was in suite 105, as they recently switched, so their business goes to 105 & vice versa all the time. (Weird since I just made the appointment earlier this week & was told suite 112) Ok, no problem. When I walked into suite 105, I was greeted by the lovely typical aromas of a massage parlor. Receptionist desk was empty, but there was signage to please be quiet due to sessions in progress & therapist would be out shortly. Saw on the counter there was a form to complete, so I began filling it out assuming I would be greeted by a person soon. Checked out the spot while I waited (see posted pics) then decided to call Johnna at 1:30p when I had yet to be helped. She answered, saying she had some sort of iPhone download/backup issue that caused her calendar to get messed up, but that she had just parked & would be right in. Ok, I thought. Explanation could've been given when you arrived. All I needed was that last part. Upon her arrival, she was somewhat pleasant & inviting by saying hi but then inquired if I had filled out the form. No sorry, no how are you doing. As I signed the form, she showed me to her room. I didn't get a good scope of it, but it seemed decent & clean enough, although I did notice a small stain on the pillow case she put down for me. She asked if she quoted me for the service, which I told her she said $40 but that I had purchased a Groupon after making the appointment. Right away, she had this demeanor of disappointment, mentioning "they take 1/2". I then told her I checked in & got the 20% deal, if she rather me do that. But since I got a better deal with Groupon, I told her I'd save the 20% for next time. We proceeded with the appointment & as I removed my garment, I explained to her that this was only the 2nd time I've ever gotten a Brazilian, so I was a little scared. We continued on with small talk but when she pulled that first bit off, I naturally screamed my head off. I'm then told to keep it down because there was a massage client in the room next door. Seriously??!?! Maybe you should find a better location, cuz who doesn't yell/scream when getting a Brazilian? Ok, I pulled it together & did what I could to be quieter. Small talk continued. She's been doing this for 3yrs, is in the early stages of pregnancy, & used to clean houses before getting recently divorced. She double checked that I wanted it all off, meaning the inner & outer labia. Yup, sure `nuff! But told her I still wanted the landing strip. 30min later, she wrapped it up & began talking about aftercare product. As she talked, I examined the job & noticed a few hairs still, specifically 1 fairly long one. Upon being called on it, she tells me that she didn't want to continue going over the same spot, as that could cause skin to come up. Oh! I don't want that to happen. But there must be something that can be done. Perhaps TWEEZING the stragglers would be a good idea, as that's what others have done! As I got dressed, she asks how I'll be paying (cash or credit) & says it totals $67! "I'm sorry, what, $67?!?!" is what I said to her. She said it was for the product, to which I respond, "Is that really necessary?" She insists it is in order to avoid bumps & stuff, adding that it can be used on your face, further selling it with "& your husband can use it too." I think all it is was something similar to a face scrub & moisturizer. At least that's what it sounded like. & She didn't even give me the option to purchase, she just said it's necessary. Well, I guess so. But Johnna, I personally think a customer should have the OPTION to purchase. Perhaps if you had done that, I may have wanted to come back for your services. Granted, I probably still wouldn't have bought it, but maybe I would've the next time if I noticed/realized that you were correct & that I did in fact need it. But now, it's too late & I've already made up my mind that I won't be returning. One last thing I forgot to mention: she did offer to trim my eyebrows, as they apparently were needing a little trim-up, so I took her up on it. That was nice of her, but as I look at myself in the mirror, I see she did an ok job. Only ok since I see a hair or 2 still a bit long & she didn't even wipe off the cut hairs from my face! Summary: Johnna was nice & sweet enough, but I feel like her waxing-game needs to be stepped up a notch. IDK if it's prego-brain or what, but hopefully she'll get better organized with her business. I had a Brazilian wax and also my legs waxed by Johnna. I regretted getting my legs waxed I ended up with many bumps and hair was still on even though length was the "rice" size. $60 for leg wax not a groupon/Amzn Lcl deal that's avrg cost. I got home and shaved the areas she didn't get to. Johnna talks about the products & how you need the after wax care. 1st she should send her customers home with a small sample as most places do and we will decide it after. Besides you can google after wax care & find cool recipes one can make at home using sugar & honey I didn't buy any products from her. My husband found JG after we had moved away from our usual waxer. He saw Johnna for a back wax and a man-zilian (that I had jokingly told him to try... and to my surprise he did) For such an awkward service Johnna was very professional and put my husbands nerves at ease. She talked to him the whole time which proper distraction is very important when in an uncomfortable situation, and the actual waxing itself was done perfectly, not a hair was missed nor was any skin damaged. I use the strongest out of the three types of glue . I also get that sometimes with lashes. If I feel too itchy I pay for a 20$ take off sometimes. I'm so sorry to hear this . If you want to continue I can use a brand new bottle of glue on your next fill . Last time I noticed that my glue didn't look the same . I think it may be getting old . I will through it away. Hopefully it goes away soon . You can use eye drops and also dial soap to wash the lashes . If there is bacteria growing the dial soap suds brushed on will Don't make an appointment with her new please!!!! read more

Johnna's technique for brazilian waxing is great, quick and not too painful. I like the Cirepil hard wax she uses, which leaves a nice smooth feel with hardly any bumps. I also got a face peel which was supposed to take off the top layers of my skin down to the whiteheads below my outer eye. It is acid based and was very painful, which I didn't mind if it removed those stubborn whiteheads. The next few days my face got extremely dry (which was expected because of the acid) to the point that I couldn't go out. I bought the Peter Thomas Roth Peeling gel ($48) at Nordstrom and it quickly took off that top layer of dry skin so that I felt comfortable going out in public. However, after my face got back to normal I did not notice a difference in the whiteheads as promised. The peel helped my face, but I was disappointed that it did not fix the area I was concerned about. Perhaps another facial or two would do the trick. Also about the product selling at the end: I like to do my own research about products before buying anything so I will rarely buy products on the spot. Overall: great professionalism and services, not a fan of upselling. read more
