This is by far the best tile shop that we found on our recent search for tiles, and we visited…read morequite a few tile shops! Big fancy ones. Ones that don't even display the prices so you have to ask (never a good sign). Ones that had tiles crammed in everywhere on big boards you have to pull out. Those shops were torture! Topps Tiles have much nicer tiles than anything else we saw, plus their prices are great. The prices are clear, and the tile mock ups are well displayed and easily accessible. They also have good photos of the tiles 'in situ' which helped us imagine what they'd be like in our flat. Topps make choosing tiles easy. They have a wide range, but the tiles are pretty stylish I'd say, and modern, but not in a 'I'm gonna regret that choice in two years' kind of way. I didn't see anything that was utterly hideous, which in my recent experience of tile shops, is a bit unusual. We got great service both times we were in. The first chap we saw on the Saturday couldn't have been more helpful, and got us sorted with tiles, adhesive, grout and everything we needed. He checked that we'd calculated our measurements correctly, and had infinite patience while we fretted over just the right shade. He happily looked out samples for us to take away, and even hauled everything out to the car for us, even though it was howling with rain. When we went in the next day, to just buy more of the same style of tile we'd bought the day before, we were served by another guy, and he was great too. I feel quite reassured that I've got everything I need. If I ever need to buy more tiles (and I'm hoping that's not for a long time), my first stop would be Topps.

They have an amazing range of vinyls, linos (?) and all other cold floor coverings in an array of colours and patterns. I'm not that into my DIY and luckily the staff in here and really friendly and gave me very clear instructions on how to lay some vinyl (or something) in my tiny bathroom. After much huffing, puffing, the odd swear word and a bottle of red wine it was done! Good job done all round! The prices are very reasonable, there's a wide range of stock and they are also open seven days. Top marks.

I went in today to get a piece of glass cut for a bathroom shelf. The chap was very friendly and helpful, took the measurements, advised on the thickness of glass I would be best with, and it was as easy as that. It was also only £6.86! I'll collect it in just under a weeks' time, which also seems pretty reasonable. They have other services too such as picture framing, and can cut mirrors, make mirror wardrobes etc. According to their invoice, they are also aluminium shopfront manufacturers. I will just have to take their word for that one.
Auldhouse Retail Park itself doesn't look too hot and this has got to be the shop, or one of them,…read morewithin it that looks particularly uncool and dated. It can't help it with it's yellowing sign and cheesy tick at the 'Right' in its name. But, I find this quite endearing kinda like when the boy is drunkenly eating pizza and ends up with tomato sauce streaks on his chin, you know? You know it shouldn't be endearing, but the fact remains it is - every once and a while. Indeed, this is a place I have been in a few times but these have been few and far between. Due to this, I really like the place. It's massive (as all of these retail outlets are) and has a wide range of stock: carpets, vinyls, flooring tiles and even a few rugs. These can be acquired in almost any colour, shade, pattern, quality and price. There's even a specific bargain bin area when there are cut offs of different flooring materials that have been found or used in a display etc. Many of these are not especially pleasant or are so small you wonder what you'd be expected to do with them - line the bottom of your wardrobe? Anyway, this is worth having a little look in as every now and again you'll find something that might find your needs. Though, obviously if you live in a mansion it's not going to happen but a new build or Glasgow flat - you might get lucky. Meanwhile, they have a weird little showroom section at the front with dated three piece suites (last time it was a warm pink one with tassells - sexy!) which I always find amusing and slightly creepy at the same time. The other bonus, is very helpful and friendly staff that happily let you browse but are on hand to answer any questions or provide flooring advice, hints and tips. Excellent for all of your flooring needs.
