I'll start this review with at least noting that the staff are friendly and seem happy to help out, but I would seriously recommend avoiding the Jewelry Dr. The quality of the craftsmanship (or lack thereof) that they are comfortable with leaving their store is astoundingly bad. For some context, I decided to purchase an unused engagement ring from an acquaintance that was built new by the Jewelry Dr. a few months back, with receipts documenting what was purchased. I figured it would be a good idea to meet at the Jewelry Dr. to have them inspect the ring, check for any issues and ensure that it was legitimate. We both met at the Jewelry Dr., and had the owner examine the ring. He confirmed that the ring was legitimate, built by them, and had no issues. I was happy with their endorsement and purchased the ring on the spot. I am no expert in jewelry and took their word on their inspection. Only when I got home did I notice that the center gemstone was a bit crooked. No big deal I suppose, I have no issue with getting a small issue fixed. I brought it to a very well-reviewed jeweler (shout out to Green Lake Jewelers in Seattle), which is where some very big issues were brought to light. They informed me of the overall shoddy workmanship of the build (the center gemstone was loose and able to be moved by hand, over cut and genuinely hacked up prongs, sanding and plier marks from construction, and a very visible re-size). They professionally showed me under magnification all these issues that I had no idea about. This is my first jewelry purchase. I knew that I was not an expert and wouldn't notice these issues, which is why I brought it to the Jewelry Dr. in the first place. None of these issues were from wear and tear, but from poor craftsmanship. Now I am completely aware that I purchased this ring from another private party, but I genuinely expected a lot more from a professional inspection. I reached back out to the Jewelry Dr., and respectfully let them know of all the issues with the ring, and if there was anything they'd be willing to help with since nothing was mentioned during the inspection. They happily insisted that I bring it back in and they would repair these issues it right free of charge. I'll give them kudos on at least being appearing to have good customer service. After a week of the ring being with them for "repair", I go to pick up the ring. I'll mention that they did not bring out any magnification to go over the work they did, and seeing as it was done free-of-charge, I wasn't in the spot to scrutinizing it before accepting. As soon as I got home, I took out my hand lens and was honestly floored. I don't know what they did, but it looks like they simply hammered the prongs and polished the ring. There is now a bunch of hammer marks and scratches on the prongs, with the kicker being that the gemstone is still loose and able to be moved by hand. None of the issues were fixed. I wanted to give them a chance to make it right, but I would have preferred to simply pay a legitimate jeweler to repair it instead of going through this headache. Suffice to say I will not be bringing this ring back to them again. The fact that they let this ring leave their business multiple times, after: 1. Originally building this and selling this ring with poor craftmanship for nearly $2,000. 2. Giving it a glowing pre-purchase inspection despite clear issues 3. Failing to actually repair it, and causing further damage/marks to the ring. Its frankly astounding. I don't write almost any one-star reviews, but this has to be the most frustrating experiences that I've had with a business - especially when purchasing something as important as an engagement ring. If you care about quality, go support a quality jeweler and save yourself massive frustration by avoiding the Jewelry Dr.

New ring and setting

I wish I had an image of the ring before I took it in. I asked a Jewler in another state to make my ring look like the below photo and he said no problem. When I got it back it was a band 5x thicker than this & not a claw head. I took it to Jewlery dr and showed them the ring I really wanted & he custom made the ring and got a setting with the claw like I wanted. It was done within a week & I even brought my very dainty gold bracelet with me during pick up & he fixed it on the spot and handed it back. I love my ring. It's finally everything I wanted it to be.

Prices seemed reasonable (and I had been to several jewelers that day on a shopping trip with a friend so I had concurrent pricing). Will definitely be checking back for new pieces. The shank broke on 5/11/2026, and I took it back on 5/12/2026. The lady who waited on me made a loud production about their one-year warranty and how the damage to my ring was outside of the year. It was 3 weeks outside of the warranty. It was unprofessional behavior and there were other people in the business who could hear her admonish me. She said she would speak to the owner and get back to me. I received a text message on 5/13/2026, stating that I could pay $40 for the repair. I picked up my ring and took it to another jewelry store who looked the ring over to give me an estimate. Attached is the picture I took when they explained that the work that had been done was faulty. There are bubbles in the shank and you can see the lines where the metal was added to upsize the ring. So much for over 30 years' experience in the business. I would expect this type of customer experience with a corporate owned business where profit is the goal over everything else, not from a "locally owned business that advertises that you can trust your precious family heirlooms with them." Update/Response: The ring was not bent nor had it been sized before. I hardly wear this ring, and I never wear it for work, around the house or in the garden. I received this from a grandparent, and it was a size 4 or 5. Fircrest is the only jeweler that I have had size this ring, and that was in April of last year. It broke at the seam of the metal that was used to upsize the ring to a size 8.5. The jeweler that looked over the ring was not impressed with the work and there was no discussion about the ring being bent or sized multiple times.

Brandon was the first to help us and apologized saying he didn't realize we were waiting. Again, no big deal he got right into figuring out what we had come in for. We said we wanted to look at engagement rights together and wanna see what we like and don't like cause how can you know unless you go try some on. We were then sat down with another associate, Sean. Idk if he was just looking to make only money that day but customer experience was horrible. He was asking what I was looking for I said I'm leaning towards a Dutch marquise but know they're hard to come by so I wanted to see marquise in person on my finger to get an idea if I'd like it in real life. Brandon had already laid out some marquise for me beforehand so Sean showed be them again and then talked AT me and explained what I wanted was an elongated hex... thank you, thats great to know although both are correct. He explained what cut and clarity were. Not something I was confused about but again, thanks. He pulled up some from his source and told us how much they were and it felt as if he was trying to make us leave or scare us away by mentioning the prices. Then he asked for timeline and my boyfriend didn't wanna say exactly what the timeline was in front of me and it's like a switch went off and he just wanted us out of his store. He was like okay well here's my card and lmk when you guys are ready. And then we just sat there in an awkward silence for a moment cause he dismissed us so fast we couldn't even process we were being kicked out lol. Anyway... I would not recommend coming here unless you can be perceived as being loaded, if you get what I'm saying. Horrible customer service from Sean. Brandon however, was great. Really wanted to support a jeweler local to us but I could never spend money at a place that treats their potential customers like this.
